I have just changed a rockerbox gasket on my wifes punto 90 1.6 cabroliet which was leaking, when i took the rockerbox off there was a pool of oil which seemed excessive. most cars i have worked with from this era had a drip feed to the rocker arms and had minimal oil residue. -

Removing oil filters 13 May 2008 (Forum)
For several years I have often struggled (but succeeded) in doing oil changes with a chain wrench to remove filter. This weekend the Fiesta's filter (not rusted) was really tight and I ended up just breaking links on spanner. So popped out and bought some Oil filter pliers, one turn and hey presto!. -
Almera oil leak 22 Sep 2006 (Forum)
It's not a bad leak, just a few drops over night. The dipstick tells me that the sumps half full, last oil change was in December 2005. Has anybody on here had experience of such an oil leak in these cars. All answers appreciated. Thanks -

Should I change my auto box oil? 19 Aug 2004 (Forum)
As far as I know, the auto box fluid in my Omega GLS 2.0 16V hasn't been changed. The car is only 3 yrs old and has covered nearly 90,000 miles - probably mainly motorways. I noted in the Haynes manual they suggest replacing the auto box oil in high mileage vehicles after 3 yrs, but when I called Vauxhall they told me it isnt necessary to change it. -

Ford Focus 2005 TDCI 1.6L - Lack of Turbo boost 17 Jan 2011 (Forum)
Ford have a list as long as your arm to replace if the turbo fails, I'm hoping I can get away with just changing the turbo and the oil feed pipe as I understand the oil feed pipe was modded~2007 to recifiy a know issue with it causing turbo failure. I'll also drain the oil and replace with some good quality fully synthetic oil, After looking around this and other sites I'm wondering how best to rectify the problem. -
Mk2 astra 1.3 oil burning quandary 12 Sep 2004 (Forum)
Noticed blue smoke on start-up/take off, found that the air filter housing was covered in oil so removed, soaked and flushed oil separator and hose with parafin. loads of crap in it and this solved the smoking problem. The following week did lots of jobs for MOT,it passed, treated it to an oil change, a week later I have the same scenario, but now its worse. -

Ford Focus 1.8 tddi - focus 1.8 tddi low oil pressure 15 Sep 2012 (Forum)
Hi im having problems with my focus tddi, when on the way up to running temperature the oil light flickers and then on fully at running temperature, oil and oil filter change was about 2000-3000 miles ago, took it to the local garage and they said the switch is fine and had an oil pressure test done which confirmed low pressure, iv now had a new oil pump fitted and iv still got the same problem, the oil pickup doesn't seem blocked either. -
Citroen ZX (1992 - 1998) - 95 1.9d non-turbo gritty g/change & temp gauge. 9 Jan 2008 (Forum)
Hi Have recently bought a 1995 1.9D Avantage ZX non-Turbo have had a few Citroens but never one of these. The car did not come with the owners handbook. I was going to do an oil & filter change and was wondering if the engine & gearbox oil were combined ? If their not is it easy enough to drain the gearbox oil and refill it ? The reason I ask is the Gears seem a Little sticky when engaging they don't crunch just feel a bit gritty. -
Low mileage bmw compact - advice 15 Apr 2003 (Forum)
It's now done 23k and is loosening up nicely! it was serviced by BMW before I bought it and due to it's age they changed the brake fluid, coolant, and plugs along with the oil. It has only had 2 oil services in it's life previously (I guess it was serviced on the "lights", and it has been used infrequently). It has a 4 spd auto box, should I be looking to change the fluid in this kind of transmission to prolong the life of the box, and what about the differential, would this benefit from change at this age or shall i leave it for a few more miles. -

Any make or model: - Lubricheck Oil Condition Monitoring Gizmo 2 Feb 2014 (Forum)
Changes in these parameters tend roughly to correlate with changes in dielectric constant, so (with many but not all oils) you can allegedly use this as a rough proxy index of oil quality. I've seen some independent peer-reviewed-journal research that seems to support this. -
