1 yr old Mondeo versus 3 yr old Accord 15 Jul 2007 (Forum)
I have a budget of ~£10k and am looking for a petrol family car. I will want to minimise risks by buying from a main dealer. I have been considering a 3 year old Accord Executive saloon. I think they look great, but they don't depreciate that quickly - so I could get a brand new one for £16k - but that is outside my budget. -
who maintains a cheap old car 30 Jul 2016 (Forum)
Okay so the words "old" and "cheap" are relative but I have a van that is 8 years old and a car that is 13 years old. I am getting insulting comments about both of them with garages telling me they might not be worth repairing and friends saying it is time I got new ones. -
Mitsubishi Outlander II - Rear disc corrosion on 2 year old car 22 Mar 2010 (Forum)
this is fine except they won't replace them as a warranty issue (3 year warranty). i bought the car a year old from the main dealer in bristol (part of the colt car company Uk) and feel that after 2 years this should really be covered as the car has not been anywhere that should have caused excessive corrosion. -
Abarth 595C - My NEW car is actually 15months old 30 Oct 2020 (Forum)
What to do? I changed car so all the trim and parts are fresh and will not need changing. I feel I was totally mis sold and would have never bought this car knowing it's age. My old car was 2.5 years old when this was made so why would I want it? -
Will any old battery do ? 25 Jul 2006 (Forum)
Anyway to their credit the recovery people turned up after about 30/40 mins and put a meter across the battery which read low. I mentioned that I had already tried to jump start it, to which he replied that most modern cars dont have enough spare 'juice' to do it. With that he got his portable booster pack out clipped it on and the old girl fired up on the first turn. So my main question is will any old battery do or are they specific to the car (2.0Gxli Spacewagon) . -

New Old Stock 22 Sep 2014 (Forum)
Anyone know what happens to dealer spare parts when they become uneconomical to keep? In the motorbike world, places like David Silver buy up old stock and have a good business doing so, but as there are more parts to cars this might not be viable. Had a notion of looking out for a 'new old' DW8 engine and having it fitted if it would be cost effective. -

Renault Clio III - New for old replacement car insurance 13 Oct 2010 (Forum)
(i.e. Would I get a new car to the same spec I purchased, or a new car just to the value of £11,500?) A new car to my spec is now nearly £18,000. How does it work? Tia Paul -
Buying "nearly new" 8 May 2007 (Forum)
A theoretical rule for changing cars is buy at two years old and sell at five years. My daughter has a five year old Honda Civic and want a Mini. Checking the main dealers sites a two year old mini seem near enough the price of a new one, allowing for the price of the "extras". -
(old) Saab 9-3 vs. (old) Vectra 19 Apr 2003 (Forum)
There are often discussions on here about the plus and minus points of the old Vectra and how certain motor journalists really slagged it off, saying that it was one of the worst cars on the road. But why was the 9-3 not categorised in the same boat (apart from the convertible which caught quite a lot of flack despite being the UK's best seller). -
Old barges gone up in price? 24 Oct 2008 (Forum)
10-year old cars with large engines seem to have gone up in price since the summer. Anybody else noticed that what might then have been £750 is now £1500? Is this a result of the rapidly dropping petrol prices? -

Honda Accord 2002 2.0i petrol - Oil change on car, was 1/2 litre old oil still in? 24 Jul 2021 (Forum)

Car prices are like house prices now! 14 Apr 2022 (Forum)
I have been hunting around a new car, as my one is many years old. My budget was around £9k for a family hatchback (or estate) around 40k to 50k (pre pandamic). I was looking at 4 year old cars. Now even at £14k, I get old junkers which have done a lot of miles and interior looks worn out. -
what new car following write-off 20 May 2005 (Forum)
Why is this? I thought the octavia was supposed to be a size class down from a vectra. Is getting a car that is only a year old economically sound as compared to one that is 2-3 years old? Can't spend much above 12k but would prefer 10k or less. Any ideas? -
NCB for two cars 1 Sep 2009 (Forum)
However we do definitely need to use the old car for the next month. This means that to get the ncb for the new car with SAGA we will have to cancel existing ncb policy on the old car and take a month's temporary insurance on old one without any ncb SAGA don't do short term policies. -
Honda Stream - Engine Management light on 'new' 15 year old car 2 May 2018 (Forum)
It still drives fine though. On a car of this age, is this likely to indicate a * serious* mechanical problem?? All suggestions gratefully received.
