Flashed at in France 7 Feb 2004 (Forum)
Unfortunately there was a bliding flash which I presume was a camera taking a pretty photo of my face. Am i likely to be fined etc etc. BTW for those of you who are off to France, the police are now stopping anyone doing more than 136 kmh on the 130 kmh stretch of the autoroute. It is incredible how much slower the French drive now! -

Driving to France 31 Oct 2018 (Forum)
I've familiarised myself with everything I'll need because I was quite rightly told to have a look at their driving laws which slightly differ to here in the UK. Since this will be my first time driving in France I was wondering if anyone know s of anywhere which sells everything required for driving over there? I know of a few places but I was just wondering if there's anywhere which sells it all so I can save money on shipping. -
n/a - Tanker drivers striking in France - again. 2 Jun 2017 (Forum)
Yes - they are at it again - striking for more money. So if you are coming to France, probably not a good idea to arrive with a near empty tank. You might be ok for a fill up, you might not, it depends where you go and what the local situation is - it's a bit hit and miss at the moment. -
N.E. France from 'above the Midlands'? 17 Aug 2011 (Forum)
Best so far is Portsmouth Caen 7am sail and there by afternoon. One pundit suggested Hull Zeebrugge, then thrash across France. At first sight this appeals as zero traffic to Hull but full overnight ferry and just can't sleep on them. Flying Leeds to Rennes might be a better use of time.. Any bright ideas? -

Ford Fiesta Saloon 1.25 Zetec 1996 model. - Damage to Engine Following trip to France 2 Oct 2010 (Forum)
After 5 days in France and 3 tanks of the new E10 French Petrol the engine started to vibrate with a noticeable loss of power. On return to the UK and using British petrol the car is the same. New plugs have not improved it. -
telepeage 11 Jun 2007 (Forum)
When you get yours ask for two or three - I gave one as a Xmas present to my ageing father who still visits France regularly. Bills go to my credit card - he gets toll free motoring in France. Allez salut maintenant! -
French trip 24 Mar 2007 (Forum)
We are going to France in April. The journey will be from Richmond, North Yorkshire to just South of Troyes. There's very little difference in mileage to our destination from Zeebrugge, Le Havre or Calais. I used to enjoy motoring in France but haven't been since 2001. -
Holiday observations 8 Aug 2006 (Forum)
Observations from France just in case anyone is interested ;-) 1. The road surfaces are atrocious out of Dunkirk, which is the most depressing entry into France I have seen. Can recommend Norfolk Line, though. The Kids like Buffalo Grill. 2. -

For those of you who live in the south, I have just returned from a day trip to France. In the supermarket at Cite Europe, they are selling Mobil 1 (4 litres) for £20 (195 Francs), compare that to over £30 in Halfords !! Also for the same price is Shell Helix Ultra (Synthetic) Turbo Diesel but 5 litre size -
Speeding in France - the latest facts 25 Jan 2005 (Forum)
There was a long thread about scameras coming to France on this site just before Xmas. Well, I and dozens of others were caught yesterday by a load of gendarmes on the motorway... Yes, I was speeding and I'm not going to excuse my bad behaviour. But "foreigners" only get a cash fine of 90 Euros - no points, no follow-ups (unlike the French motorists). -
Left hand drive in UK 24 Nov 2004 (Forum)
(Though the petrol equivalent does.) Both are standard in France, where admittedly they are more use. However, the other aspect of the equation is whether it is easier/safer to use a left hand drive car in the UK than to use a right hand drive car in France. -
