Speed cameras - are we safer now? 20 Dec 2015 (Forum)
Now the evenings are darker, are we any safer from the curse of speed cameras on the gantries over the motorways? I haven't seen them flashing so much on my daily run around the north western part of the M25. And on the other roads, I've not seen any camera vans aiming to catch evening commuters. -
Reversing Camera 19 Dec 2013 (Forum)
I am looking for a reversing camera to give as a Christmas present for a 07 Vectra, been looking on ebay mostly and confused as to what should I buy. How does the monitor that seems to stick on your rear view mirror work, do you need two cameras one for pointing rear and one down for reversing How hard is it to fit? -
Transfering video clips from digital cameras 14 Jan 2011 (Forum)
My old-fashioned camera has broken and I'm going to replace it with a digital one. From what I understand most digital cameras have some video capacity but how easy is it to transfer this to a laptop? Is it normally done using the memory card or do you need some sort of USB device and software? -
Speed Camera (Gatso) Question 3 Mar 2009 (Forum)
I was passing a well known Gatso in Whytreleafe Surrey tonight doing a steady 30 when a motorbike came speeding madly past in the other direction. With un-nerving precision the camera flashed as I was well and truly "in the zone". Is there any chance that I will get a ticket and is this a known phenomena? How did the motorbike set off the camera going the wrong way? -
Speed camera - never seen one of these before? 12 May 2008 (Forum)
On the A414 from M1 J8 into Hemel Hempstead there is a normal Gatso. They have just installed a CCTV camera about 10 metres down the road from the Gatso, pointing the same way but angled down at the road. Any ideas what it is? It isna't a security camera for the Gatso as it has been angled to point away from it, at the road. -
specs cameras in Blackwall Tunnel 19 Jan 2007 (Forum)
I have heard from a reliable source that TFL have installed specs (average speed) cameras in the blackwall tunnell. There are no warning signs and the cameras are hidden. As such you cannot be given points on your licence but you can and will be fined for breaking the speed limits that are 30 in one direction and 40 in the other so causing confusion and inadvertant breaking of the above speed restrictions. -

SPECS cameras 2 Nov 2006 (Forum)
Hope this topic has not been discussed before; there seems to be a fundamental flaw with the use of these cameras according to the Sun newspaper (so it must be true then!) http://www.thesun.co.uk/article/0,,2002410000-2006480146,00.html -
HJ Comments on Average Speed Cameras Telegraph 9 Jun 2010 (Forum)
Re. HJ's comments about average speed cameras in the Telegraph column (published website, 2nd June): "Readers have been done. Tends to happen at night when the roads are clear and there is no justification for cameras because no one is working on the road. -
Average Speed Cameras 27 Sep 2017 (Forum)
If it is the case, if you were travelling several miles within an ASC zone at say 50mph maximum speed limit, and for 3/4 of that distance there was a traffic crawl and you didn't go over 10 mph, could you then go at 70 mph for the last 1/4 and not get a ticket? Or do these cameras act like speed cameras as well and ticket you if you break the speed limit? -
Yet more cameras...... 27 Nov 2001 (Forum)
Not content in having to contend with speed cameras, The Times (261101) reports in the very near future another camera lurking in the bushes and no adjustment of speed will be enough to avoid a penalty. Its is a Pollution Camera which detects dirty fumes by laser beam. -
M8 Specs cameras 21 Jul 2006 (Forum)
Although I would not in any shape or form try to test my theory out, there is part of me that says I wonder if these cameras are real? Unless you know someone "in the know" then these cameras will do the same job whether they are real or not! -

Average speed cameras 5 Aug 2023 (Forum)
I have recently had 3 speeding notifications through the post and thus 9 points for going through the same average speed camera at 54mph in an average 50mph on a dual car ridgeway. The camera was new and the 3 offences occurred within 1 week of each other so I hadnt known that 54mph average was above the threshold. I do a lot of motorway driving and was wondering if anyone knew what (if any) the threshold is for these average cameras? -
Red Light Camera Distance 21 Dec 2021 (Forum)
Hi, Just looking for some information that I was thinking when driving around today. There is a Grey Box Red Light Camera situated on Park Place Road by the New Theatre Cardiff and a set of lights there consequently. If you go straight ahead, there is another set of light with no Red Light camera; I was wondering would the previous Grey Box camera trigger for the second set of lights which is approximately 121 metres away or would it only trigger for the set of lights that it is closest too? -
Not a speed-camera thread (much) 21 Dec 2004 (Forum)
My theory is that they started off with the usual 'flashing from behind' speed cameras and painted the road to go with it. Maybe later they updated the speed cameras to forward-facing ones but didn't repaint the road. I am a bit worried now that the board moderators are going to politely but firmly tell me that speed-camera posts are now banned until further notice and that I should refer to Speed Camera Thread XVII. -
What kind of camera for car vandalism? 22 Jul 2019 (Forum)
I have owned several cars and it happens I come back to find that somone has bumped into them. I have had windscreen wiper stolen. I recall a story, where a guy was caught on camera, when he keyed someone's £100,000 Aston Martin. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n9BnBXsbkcM I am wondering what sort of camera was used?
