Subaru Forester XT - Why do Subaru get such poor reviews? 4 Jan 2015 (Forum)
BTW, the situation in the USA is quite the opposite. Subaru generally sell over 40,000 cars a month and the Forester makes up over 13,000 of these per month! I think I read Subaru sales in the US rose last year by over 40% compared with the previous year. Are the British public obsessed with the badge on their car or what? -
Pug 206 XSi Various Probs 5 May 2005 (Forum)
The car is out of warranty, but are peugeot replacing these on request as they are in my opinion under engineered. The car has never suffered any impact frontal or otherwise, from looking at the passenger side unit, I think I could snap both the mountings just using the force it takes to replace the dust cover on the headlamp assembly. 2. -

Mazda - Main dealer taking the michael? 25 Dec 2009 (Forum)
Advice please regarding today?s puchase of a 06 reg 2005Mazda ..... Briefly, I bought the above car from a Mazda main dealer ( I will withhold the dealer?s details ) and I think the dealer has taken the michael--- and I would value BR?S comments. It?s an issue simply about excess mileage when I collected the vehicle today. -
150 k Miles in a Berlingo 31 May 2021 (Forum)
Nobody but me to blame for clutch, I’d been warned at service it was on its last legs. Alternator is a design thing – low set at front of car. Indy though reckoned it should have been capable of at least a temporary repair at roadside. It’s done last 10k miles in 9 months and we’re happily splitting long distance jobs between it and the newer car to keep latter’s mileage in bounds of warranty. -
Vauxhall Vectra 1.9 sri - Advice needed on problems with new car 11 Apr 2016 (Forum)
I have recorded all telephone conversations so far using an app for my phone so I have a record of exactly what was said and when, Sorry for the length of post and any advice is greatly appreciated as I don’t really know much about cars (enough to get by) and anything above is what I’ve learnt from researching forums the last few days. -
Mercedes Benz E-Class W211 (2002 - 2009) - E320CDI - Running Report 1 May 2009 (Forum)
Solid. The car feels solid and nothing has gone wrong with the body and fittings. Roomy. With the rear seats folded, there is 1950l of space. Very practical. Economy. The worst I've seen in haevy town use is late 20s mpg. -
Mazda Mazda 3 (2004 - 2009) - Piston-Slap Issue, Katano 1,600cc Petrol. 20 Mar 2008 (Forum)
I am aware that the 1,600cc engine used across the range can rattle, but the hammer on our car is entirely different and is a distinct knock, especially when pulling away cold (i.e. engine loaded). After much protesting and at my insistence, a Mazda UK specialist was sent to assess the noise while at the garage's premises. -
Used Market Petrol v Diesel Study 12 Sep 2011 (Forum)
When 'total cost' is listed, this will include the purchase price, as we try and work out how long it will take a diesel to 'make back' the outlay. I will only use examples from dealers, trade ads. All cars will be in very good condition, no Cat C or D examples will be used for the purposes of the test. And all cars have full MOT's and warranties provided. The Cars Ok lets kick off with one of the lands most popular cars, the Ford Focus. -
BMW 5-Series E39 (1996 - 2003) - 99 3.0 530d Autobox Issue - ?? 9 May 2009 (Forum)
The oil was no longer Red, more of a really dark brown (not black) did smell burnt.. smelt like old oil. the viscosity I would say was like a 0-5W engine oil....where I understand ATF (yea I know these cars use a special L.Life fluid...) should be more like 30W. It is not possible to drain the Torque converter on these babies without taking said box out or doing the old oil cooler off trick and running the engine. -
BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe - BMW buying experience 30 Oct 2017 (Forum)
The whole transaction has to be done at the Ipswich branch and if I want the car delivered to me, I have to bear that cost - it feels like they don't want to sell the car to me as I am given a cost at every turn. I asked for an extended warranty or a free service etc to lessen the burden. -
Hyundai i30 (2007 - ) - Review 20 Apr 2008 (Forum)
The gear change is still a bit notchy. The four-wheel disc brakes seem powerful to me but I had never driven a car with four to date. I do mostly medium and long journeys, keep mostly to speed limits, use block changes wherever feasible, have the aircon more on than off (otherwise the front windows mist up) and mpg to date, according to the computer, is 42.2 (although I make it 39 ) giving, if true, a useful range of nearly 500 miles. -
new car/ dealer-v-supermarket -v-net 15 Jul 2003 (Forum)
So, based on Natasha's Daddy's current thread 'Help Needed' and my own new car sourcing experience of the last week, thought some comments and advice might be a good idea? Natasha's daddy has bought a new car from a 'car supermarket' which advertises quite heavily in the press. -
My question to an MP regarding Bio-diesel - Reply! 4 Feb 2011 (Forum)
4 November 2010 E-9096/2010 WRITTEN QUESTION by Syed Kamall (ECR) to the Commission Subject: Diesel particulate filter (DPF) I have been contacted by two constituents regarding an EU legislation issue which is causing concern among owners of diesel cars. One of my constituents owns a 2008 Volvo diesel-engined car that was the subject of a safety recall by Volvo owing to concerns that rising oil levels in the engine may cause the car to ‘self-fuel’, thus making the car run away without it being possible to turn the engine off. -
VW TDI crankshaft problems 10 Sep 2003 (Forum)
As i have no confidence in original dealer authorise current dealer to sort problem. £170.00 lighter i pick the car up - seems sharper etc. 1200 miles later flat spot is back and car running like a \'dog\'. Call dealer inform of problem. they say it may cost to sort but I beg to differ and book car in. Car in - fuel pump timing recalibrated and they inform me that \'sorted under parts warranty\'...hand car back with fuel pump timing recalibrated and seems ok. 1500 miles later same problem (car running gutless and problems starting etc). -
Skoda Yeti - My Yeti(s) 25 Mar 2018 (Forum)
Towards the end of my time with this car the timing chain was beginning to rattle and would have no doubt required replacement (under warranty) before too long. Other than the Bolero being slow to load / read MP3's the car was otherwise faultless. -
Choosing an MPV 14 May 2007 (Forum)
Diesel is out of our price bracket, but we are low mileage users and the petrol costs on our Galaxy never crippled us, Grandis should be a little more economical. My wife fell in love with the Warrior, leather stitched seats, flip down DVD player (to keep the kids happy), sports kit, etc. Dealer offered us a 21 month old car with 14,000 miles on it for £13,000, still with 15 months manufacturers warranty. -
Any - Stop / Start Systems 10 Dec 2017 (Forum)
So it decides to manipulate market forces by setting a VED regime that cajoles consumers into smaller more efficient cars, which in turn cajoles manufacturers to make more efficient cars. It uses CO2 as the measure to provide a percieved link between pollution and the size of your car. It's phsycological warfare - trying to shame you into a smaller engined car. -
Land Rover finally admits it has an issue.. 11 Mar 2021 (Forum)
Jaguar Land Rover Highlights 2021 The bad rep can also be attributed to automotive vloggers. Doug DeMuro used to daily a Range Rover, and over six years, CarMax paid him an eye-watering $21,276 in claims for a $3,699 warranty. The Fast Lane also deserves to be mentioned because the four-cylinder turbo engine in their new Defender gave up the ghost after only 167 miles (269 kilometers). -
