2007 Ford Focus 1.8 TDCI - High Fuel Pressure issue 8 Jun 2021 (Forum)
Hi, My focus has developed a problem where upon starting the car runs for a few seconds then cuts out stating 'engine system fault' and will not restart. RAC plugged in and seems the fuel pressure was too high with error code referencing the fuel pressure sensor. Having reset / cleared the errors the car re-started and after a short time pressure went to normal. RAC suggested a bit of dirt as seemed to sort its self. -
Ford Fiesta Mk4 facelift 1.25LX year 2000 - Intermittent electrical wire problem 20 Feb 2019 (Forum)
Good Morning, I am hoping someone can steer me in the right direction, my wife has a very clean year 2000 Ford Fiesta, recently after a no sytart scenario a mechanic diagnosed a faulty fuel pump. A new pump was fitted via a hole that was cut under the n/side rear side pan. The car now starts and runs fine but now the fuel gauge indicated zero ( it has half a tank ) I know the new pump had a combined fuel float device. -
any - how long to get the best from your vehicle 3 Aug 2018 (Forum)
Progress that is, improving your driving for smoother, not slower progress, leading to quite large improvements in fuel usage. I reckon it takes me about 4/5 months before i can get the best from a new to me vehicle, though i don't think you ever stop learning. Was issued a new lorry at work in Feb, and we have fuel consumption displayed automatically on the depot fuel pump every time we refill. -
Peugeot 307 2l hdi 2004 - Fuel gauge not registering refils 3 Mar 2017 (Forum)
After another 60 mile the fuel level was reading lower as you expect, but the next refill again didn't increase on the gauge. What is going on? The gauge correctly shows fuel use but not the refilling. Has anyone any ideas please. -
Jaguar XFR 2011 - Jag XFR Needs New Fuel Injector(s) Post Re-Fuel 11 Oct 2016 (Forum)
Is there anything we can do to claw back some of the repair bill from the main dealer. In addition, could this have been caused by petrol contamination at the fuel station and if so how do we go about investigating this? Should this really have happened at such low mileage? Very grateful for any advice please. Thank you. -
BMW 116d EfficiencyDynamics - BMW 116d EfficiencyDynamics fuel consumption? 4 Oct 2016 (Forum)
I bought my very low mileage 13 plate BMW 116d EfficiencyDynamics 6 weeks ago and generally love it, however I am more than a little bit peeeeved about the heavy fuel consumption! For many a long year I have owned diesel engined cars and I have always managed to achieve quite exceptional brim to brim fuel consumption figures, for instance my last car was a Peugeot 307SW 1.6 HDi and I was regularly getting a corrected 60+ mpg. -
Honda Jazz - 1.2 Honda Jazz motorway fuel efficiency 1 Oct 2013 (Forum)
The acceleration pass 50m/h isn't vey good and I have to keep the engine at almost 3.5k rpm to keep the car at 70m/h. Is this bad for the car and bad for the fuel economy as well? I have taken the average fuel consumption over three days and I have got approx 40 miles per gallon. This is acceptable for a 1.2? For my journey, it is mainly 90% motorway, and sometimes I have to due with traffic jams with the remaining 10% journey. -
Peugeot 306 (1993 - 2001) - 2.0 HDi fuel problem? 25 May 2012 (Forum)
Peugeot 306 2.0 Diesel HDi. History: Car broke down, diagnosis by AA was fuel pump. Pump was seized (This is the fuel pump that sits in the tank) I replaced the pump with another VDO part. Since then intermittently the engine will only rev up to a maximum of 2,300 rpm. Its like it is limited at 2,300. -
Renault Grand Modus - Warranty Repairs 2 May 2011 (Forum)
I own a Grand Modus which a few weeks from expiry of the warranty. On several occasions it has had a intermittent fault in that it after fuel has been put in the fuel gauge does not change. The "gauge" consists of coloured blocks which "light up" on a black ground to show how much fuel is in the tank. Last week it showed one empty block so I filled the tan until the pump cut out. -
Does cruise control use more fuel? 26 Jun 2010 (Forum)
Does cruise control use more fuel? This applies to modern cars. This is my style of driving a car without cruise control. I accelerate gently, not sluggish or harshly. -
ford mondeo - Ford mondeo mk3 petrol fuel pump problem 31 May 2010 (Forum)
In my opinion diagnostics are rubbish they were saying it was the egr valve on one and air sensor on other then another said it was the cat no one said the fuel pump. so can someone tell me is it common ? Thanks Jason -
Citroen ZX (1992 - 1998) - 1993 1.9 starting problem - hot and cold 17 Jan 2010 (Forum)
The car's done 180k but over the last 40k is been progressively difficult to start needing several turns before firing, otherwise runs fine. Of late I have to pump the fuel primer bulb to get it to go. OK to start inside of 1hr after initial start otherwise back to the bulb. I think its either getting air into the fuel or the pressure in the fuel system is able to fall when not running thus being a dog to start as the pump is initially starved. -
Peugeot 205 (1983 - 1997) - 91 1.6 Fuse Box/Fuel Pump Intermittent power failu 8 Dec 2009 (Forum)
I know 100% that it is a problem with the cables(loom) that connect to the fuse box,, the problems is every now and again the fuel pump will cut out, i have had the car specialists in to look at it, since being told to replace the fuse box, fuel pump relay and ecu, the problem still persists, when the engine cuts out i proceed to 'wiggle' the fuse box itself whilst coasting down the road, and the majority of the time, this caues the fuel pump to start working, this fault must be caused by a loose or faulty connector on the loom, ofcourse i have no idea which connecter that connects with the fuse box does what! -
Peugeot 307 SW (2002 - 2008) - 2005 2.0 How do I prime the fuel filter 27 Feb 2009 (Forum)
How should I drain the water and how should I prime the system ? Also, Haynes mentions that when you replace the fuel filter, the housing may break and has to be replaced ... is this true? Thanks in advance for any comments. -

Morrisons supermarkets and fuel price increases. 13 Jan 2008 (Forum)
One supermarkets chain in my area is purposely increasing the price of fuel against those of the like of Asda, Tesco, Shell, Jet, BP etc. It is not the likes of the latter I see increasing their pump prices. It is just one supermarket chain in my area: MORRISON'S. This one supermarket has had and caused all the other providers in my area to have three price increases on all types of fuel in the last month. -
Warranty Issue.. 15 Jun 2007 (Forum)
The car develops a starting issue and is sent to the main dealer. The dealer diagnoses the problem as a faulty 'Pre supply fuel pump'. The dealer calls the warranty company, who decline to pay stating the part is not covered. Here is an extract from the policy: 'FUEL SYSTEM Mechanical and electrical fuel pumps, airflow meter, injectors (including injector cooling system), overrun cut-off valve, pressure regulator, sensors, throttle body, fuel gauge and tank sender unit. -
LPG/bi-fuel Cars 11 Apr 2006 (Forum)
I'm on the market to buy a small LPG/bi-fuel car, mainly to be used to drive in London and also to avoid giving Ken any more of my hard earned cash, when he extends his Congestion Charge area, next year. The other day I popped into my local Vauxall dealer, because I know they make bi-fuel vehicles, only to be met by blank faces. -
BMW Z4 - BMW 2.5 Straight 6 Fuel 14 Mar 2017 (Forum)
Its kept garaged & as its not used we leave the hand break off & use chocks. Talking with a mechanic, he recommended premium fuel which, he said, would help with this engine when left standing. Any thoughts about this? -
Mercedes-Benz SL-Class R129 - Premium v Standard Fuels 2 Dec 2016 (Forum)
An engineer once told me "If you have any respect for your engine never use supermarket fuel. In fact, only use Premium." My Classic Car buddy (retired from the oil industry) tells me that using Premium all the time can have an abrasive effect on the engine, he suggests Premium every fourth fill.
