Driving abroad with Xenon lights 28 Apr 2005 (Forum)
Now it seems I have to visit a dealer then dazzle everyone as I drive to / from the ferry port (100+ miles) or else find a dealer at the ferry port who is open when we return at 9.30pm ... unlikely ... or one in France! Any suggestions? -
Mondeo clutch problem 9 Oct 2004 (Forum)
I have a 2000 (old shape) Mondeo which has covered just under 60000 miles (manual). The clutch has started to feel odd and is slipping when the drive is taken up. It doesn't feel like normal clutch failure due to clutch plate wear (and I would be surprised at this mileage as my driving style is light on clutches). When I say odd it seems that when you release the pedal it appears as though the drive is taken up quite slowly even if you release the pedal instantly (makes it very difficult to move into a small gap but virtually impossible to stall!). -
Short Journeys & Gentle Driving 12 Feb 2004 (Forum)
IIRC, it was in a recent Technical thread that someone stated that short journeys and gentle driving (generally in small cars…mine is a Jazz) were the catalytic converters worst enemy. My driving comes mainly in this category (apart from a 60 mile Motorway trip in the Grandpa Lane once or twice a month). -
Fast motorway driving - Good or bad? 19 Dec 2003 (Forum)
I am aware that my fuel consumption at this speed is ridiculous, but i am wondering about the long-term effects of driving at a constant speed at high revs for an extended length of time. -
Two Wheel Drive Danger 12 Dec 2003 (Forum)
A warrant has been issued for the arrest of former Formula One driver Eddie Irvine, after he was caught speeding on a scooter with no licence and no insurance, court officials have said. The 38-year-old was arrested by police in London on July 24 this year for driving at over 30mph on a scooter through the city's Hyde Park, with no scooter licence and no insurance. The former Jordan and Ferrari racing driver, who won four Grand Prix in Formula One, was charged with excess speed, no insurance and driving otherwise in accordance with licence. -
Audi 100 s4 fuel consumption 14 Nov 2002 (Forum)
Hi I have just bought a 1994 Audi S4 Avant Auto, it has been chipped to stage 1 level and has 270 HP, it is a great car, fantastic to drive and fast the only trouble is I am only averaging around 15mpg, for a mixture of town and dual carriage way driving, I do drive the car quite hard but my wife drives it mainly and very sedately and the mpg still does not increase much at all. -

Suzuki Vitara - High pitched sound when driving 24 Apr 2024 (Forum)
I recently bought a 2018 Suzuki Vitara S All Grip Automatic and a few days later it developed a noise when driving. The closest thing I can compare the noise to is a high pitched whistle/buzzing on a phone line. The sound becomes more prominent at faster speeds > 50 mph and also once the car is warmed up (driving for 20+ mins). -
Help me choose-Large Diesel engine Q Barge! 16 Oct 2007 (Forum)
Current alternatives BMW 530d-approx 231 BHP, very refined ,reasonable mileage, however rear wheel drive and cheaper compared to an Audi A6 3litre.However rear wheel drive, which ? may not be an issue, however has brilliant handling and more than adequate power and torque..Disadvantages a mite too flash and provokes resentment from all other drivers-experienced it well in my test drives with the 320d! -

FORD - Cosworth RS 500 28 Feb 2023 (Forum)
I suppose the buyer will only store it and look at it. A lot earlier than this I had a test drive in a Cavalier GSI and had never driven a performance car before. Needless to say it scared the pants of me a bit after only driving a 998cc Austin A40. Has anyone else a memory of driving a quick car for the first time and what was it? -
Provisional Driving Licence - time to receive? 19 Jun 2020 (Forum)
I was just wondering if anyone has applied for a provisional driving licence since the service resumed and received it already? My son did so about 10 days ago, nothing received and no email other than the confirmation of application. We're just wondering how long it might take to arrive and when we might be able to start some lessons. -

Mexican driving 5 Sep 2016 (Forum)
Just got back from Mexico and the driving there is amazing. The roads themselves in the Cancun area are pretty good but the speed limits appear to be put up for decoration. A bus ride is quite an experience, the drivers put the foot to the floor and swerve in and out with gusto.
