Brakes or no brakes 18 Jul 2001 (Forum)
In Saturday's Telegraph, HJ's column quotes a letter from a luckless couple who had total brake failure in their Daewoo Nexia. I understood it to be based heavily on the Vauxhall Astra, in which case it should have dual circuit brakes. If that's true, then the car should have stopped by application of the footbrake, not by the parking brake as the piece stated. -

EVs and brake lights 2 Jan 2023 (Forum)
The brake lights on both kept coming on for a second or two whenever we were going down a slight decline. The sort of circumstance where in an ICE car, you might lift off the gas and coast. In an EV, when you lift off, you effectively brake, rather than coast and hence the brake lights illuminate? -

Peugeot 106 - Brake 'slipping' when clutch engaged 2 Dec 2011 (Forum)
Hi, When I am at low speed and start to engage the clutch whilst braking in my 106 (2001 Y reg), the car jerks as if I was slamming the brakes on. It feels like the brakes slip. I have booked it into the garage tomorrow, but would be good to have an idea of what it might be and what it might cost so I know what to expect! -

1972 VW camper offside front calliper brake keeps locking and gets very hot. I have stripped down the brake and find that the two pistons are free but won't move independently, i.e. you cannot seperate them to insert the brake pads and if you push one piston in the other moves and vice-versa. -

Ford Fiesta (1995 - 1999) - 96 1.3 Brake pedal nearly to floor. 17 Dec 2009 (Forum)
Parked my sons Fiesta up on Friday, everything fine, nothing wrong with the car. He jumped in it this morning to go to work and the brake pedal went to the floor, we had a look at it and there is no brakes until the pedal nearly reaches the floor. I went a (gentle!) run in it and the brakes do work but the pedal goes nearly to the floor with little or no feeling of them working. -

Replace brake calipers as a pair ?? 13 Mar 2007 (Forum)
Backroomers, I have been advised my local main dealer that my OSR brake caliper has been seizing on and has now worn the brake pads down to a very low level. Not disputing this as the brake pad sensor had already triggered the warning light. The discs were on the way out anyway so I'll be needing pads and discs but the dealer insists that they always change calipers as an axle set.
