How to check for dealers porkies? 11 Jun 2007 (Forum)
I have read a few posts about incorrect or misleading diagnosis of car faults and this must be costing many needless millions to motorists. I recall being told I needed a new differential for a Volvo 340 as it was leaking a small amount of fluid and was quoted megabucks. Fortunately I knew a mechanic who rang his mates at Volvo and apparently this was a common thing and all you had to do was top up the fluid once in a while. -

Volvo V60 - The first 10,000 miles 25 Jul 2017 (Forum)
It's particularly useful when going up a hill slowly (as you often have to in rural Dorset); when left to itself the transmission is in a higher ratio than I'd have chosen on a manual gearbox. - Volvo have some of the best seats in the business, and these are excellent, and adjustable in all possible ways, with standard lumbar support adjustment (scandalously an extra on the BMW). - A lot of ink is spilt by road testers saying how small the load area is, and how it isn't a proper Volvo estate - but if they actually tried using it they'd find it's perfectly adequate for most normal needs (and there are bigger Volvos available if not). -

Negotiating at the bottom end of the market 28 Oct 2009 (Forum)
I'm rubbish at haggling and have always come away from car deals thinking someone else would have done a better deal so I'm trying to work out the best way to approach such a deal. Is it better to try and trade-in the Volvo or leave it out of the deal and try and work on the power of cash? I might put the Volvo up on Ebay and see if it gets any bids in an auction or I might consign it to the recycling centre. Would a small dealer give anything for it? -
Change Volvo for A-Class 23 Jun 2004 (Forum)
She has a Honda CR-V and loves it. Its suits her now and will do so after the birth as well. I have a Volvo S80 2.9 with 44,000 miles from 1999. It is too big for my real needs but is comfortable and I can afford it. But once the baby arrives it will be too small for carting all five of us and luggage on long trips and I don't want a roof box. -
Warning! Volvo & Chrysler a/c 16 Jul 2001 (Forum)
Airbags out, column down, centre console removed, the whole shooting match you see in front of you as you drive. Volvo 850's only need a partial strip, but still a big job. I was at a Chrysler garage last week and they had had 4 in that week alone. Bear in mind I have only done 3 in the last 2 years. Most evaporators last a lifetime, but these are lasting between 2-4 years on average. -
