  1.8sri (140bhp) auto astra with a/c During colder wet and damp weather the front windscreen refuses to completely demist. There is always a 1 to 2 inch strip along the bottom edge that stays. The rear side windows also are very slow to clear. Normal or points to clogged drain hole or heater problem?

  However, this happened 10 or so more times - with me turning it off with the fob) before it finally stopped. All nice and quiet so i got in and started it up. First thing I noti>ed was the heated rear screen light was on (when i turned the ignition on. I couldnt turn it off) Then i noticed that the front heated screen button didnt work. Ok... I thought i would give it a run round the block to see if it would clear.

  I have checked there is no drop in the brake fluid level. The garage also say they checked the condition of the pipes to the calliper. The car had not been used for 2 weeks when it happened this time. I drove 10 miles, no problem. Drove home, started to smell heat just as I got home.

  They mentioned that the front windscreen was not the original screen and may have been replaced at some point. The screen has bubbling and that's why the sensor is not working. They cannot fix under manufacturer's warranty as the screen is not an original BMW part and advised me to contact the dealer I bought the car from.

  Hi All I have a 1991 VW Golf (81,000 miles, 1300cc). I noticed that the exhaust clamps and bolts near the front of my car were rusting. I therefore applied some copper grease to them in order to delay the onset of rust. I have now noticed that the copper grease has changed from a copper colour to black. Is this due to the heat and have I been wasting my time?

  Was overtaken on M8 today by an Octavia Estate which had 4, or maybe even 6, small stubby aerials on its roof in a rectangle shape. It also had a phone aerial on front windscreen and the radio aerial at rear of car. Any ideas what these would have been for and what the car was used for? The aerials were similar to what you sometimes see on traffic cars except they weren't as tall.

  I noticed a damp smell in the car yesterday. I checked under all the floor mats and found the front passenger side carpet quite damp but luckily not waterlogged. I removed the pollen filter and found some leaves in the tray which may have impeded the exit of rain water.

  Can anyone recommend a decent shampoo that doesn’t smear the windscreen please? I’ve given up on my local car wash as they spray something all over the car that leaves the windscreen in a dreadful state. I also find that washing it myself with the branded products has a similar impact.

  Hi all, Iv been trying to find the current price for an audi a6 limited edition saloon but I actually can't find it anywhere apart from one being scrapped. Iv had a friend who works for a main car dealer do a hpi that all clear and a cap id price but the car doesn't show up nor does it on most websites.   I was wondering if anyone's got any advice, We are thinking of buying a 57reg ford s max and when we took it for a test drive I noticed that there's a gap between the dashboard and the small window at the front next to the windscreen. It's not like that on the other side and not sure if it's anything to worry about. Any help would be much appreciated
