  • Honda CBR600F - charging problems? 26 Sep 2006 (Forum)
This was directly after a 30 mile motorway run, which struck me as a little odd. I would expect a fully charged battery after a run like this. Have yet to attack it with a multimeter, but does this sound like a regulator/rectifier issue (or the beginnings of one), or is it simply a slightly tired battery. It does concern me though that the battery appears to be discharging at idle, or again is this normal, and its only a tired battery showing it up.
  • Toyota Yaris Cross - Dead car 8 Mar 2025 (Forum)
Surely this must have been discussed somewhere on this forum   where if you don't drive your hybrid for 6 days it DIES. What the hell is going on when Toyota had my car for two days charging the battery and seeing if there was a discharge. Toyota sent an email offering a new battery for...I have asked them for a battery booster instead of the stupid bottle of tyre puncture included . They even told me how to drive my car with a list of suggestions ..BUT not one solution to leaving it parked at an airport for two weeks and finding dead at midnight ...anyone else got solutions.
  • Can you recommend an emergency battery pack 13 Dec 2022 (Forum)
It was going dark and I saw a flash and a spark, as he connected the wrong terminals and didn’t use the cars earth point on the chassis . Both cars still going at the moment. But can you recommend a small battery pack to carry in the boot ?
  • Honest John's Motoring Agony Column 18-05-2019 Part 1 17 Jun 2019 (Forum)
Please tell us the exact, full and verified circumstances of this Leaf owner who was quoted over 7 grand for a replacement battery because as far as Im aware, Nissan along with other EV manufacturers warrants replacement of the drive battery if the capacity falls below 75%. I can only presume this 'owner' wanted his battery replaced when well above the minimum warranted capacity or wanted to upgrade to a higher capacity pack.
  • Tomtom & Garmin - Sat navs keep getting battery issues 8 Jan 2018 (Forum)
Hi, i have now had 3 different sat navs, two tomtoms & one Garmin & all three have been replaced because of battery issues.  Is this pure coincidence or is it my car?  All have been using different power adapters into the cigarette lighter, one of which has been a USB one which charges other devices without issue.
  • Land Rover Freelander 2 3.2 Petrol - 2nd Hand Freeland Battery Cost / Warranty 3 Dec 2015 (Forum)
Relative bought a 57 plate 3.2L Petrol (Auto Gas Converted) Freelander in June. This week the battery failed. The garage he bought it from were called out and they charged £300 to replace it. Does this seem fair? I could have got one from Halfords for £50! Is it this just a matter of dropping a new one in or will ECU and other stuff have to be checked?

  • Williams ? - Fire at racetrack 26 May 2012 (Forum)
31 people needed medical attention after a fire broke out in the Williams pit-lane after a fire broke out as engineers attempted to dismantle a damaged car. The article raised the question as to whether the fire was caused by a battery situated beneath the fuel tank.  The battery is/ was used to provide a speed boost lasting 6.6 seconds every lap. Am I old fashioned in imagining that locating a battery beneath a fuel tank is inviting that kind of fire ?
  • Vauxhall Vectra CLub 16V - Dead Battery? 4 Jan 2012 (Forum)
After a jump i was able to get it started but even if i turned the steering wheel slightly the headlights would dim and it would lose power - the BAS light even came on and the power steering went, driving straight seemed to be ok. My question is, does this sound like just a dead battery or might there be something more serious wrong with it? Many thanks in advance.
  • Audi A3 - Replacing nearside headlight bulb 20 Feb 2011 (Forum)
Although I can unclip one side of the casing protecting the bulbs, there is not enough room to move it away due to the placement of the battery. The odd thing is I am sure I have replaced bulbs in the nearside unit before, but I have recently had a new battery fitted, so I suppose it could be marginally larger than the original. It looks like the only solution is to remove the battery.

Went to start the car and I would have sworn the battery is flat. Put jump leads on and it was still the same. Now when the ignition is on there is a brrrrrrr sound coming out of a box mounted on top of the engine. (it has two magenta coloured relays? in there).

  • Focus ('99 1.8) - ignition warning light 2 May 2007 (Forum)
Howdy people, Had to recharge my battery yesterday as it had gone flat. When I put it back into the car, it started fine and sounded fine. • Fiat Punto MK1 Flat battery 16 Jan 2005 (Forum)
Any Ideas what could cause this? It has happened about once a year from new after twice failing in the first few months and the battery being replaced, but I've never been able to trace why. It's just done it again today. It can flatten overnight, but on checking lights etc. there is no reason for a drain that I can find. - Lights were all switched off for example.

  • FIAT Cinquecento (1993 - 1998) - 1999 - Parasitic drains and removing alarms 11 Jan 2008 (Forum)
GF is selling her 99(P) Fiat Cinq but we are having a little problem with it.... when left overnight after a run, the battery is flat the following morning and car won't start.... To check the battery, I disconnected the battery, left it for three days, reconnected and it started first time so the battery is obviously holding the charge ok and can't be the problem...
