Volvo S60 (2000 - 2009) - 01 2.0 TS - recent cold starting concerns 30 Jul 2008 (Forum)
Any suggestions or any common areas of weakness to check? By the way, once up and running, the car is running fine, pulling well, returning mid 30's mpg, and there are no warning lights on. The car is coming up on 132k and has a full Volvo history to 110k, and has been maintained to the schedule independently since. The forthcoming service (due in a few miles) is a simple oil and filter job - plugs aren't due until 144k. -
Mrs Nsar is looking to change - suggestions please 9 Jul 2008 (Forum)
She drives a 53 plate Freelander Td4 S with about 60k on the clock - it was a demo when we got it. A bit scuffed and worn but nothing a bit of tlc wouldn't cure. Trade in price maybe £4500? She wants to reduce her carbon footprint and fuel costs. -
Main Dealers gasping? long service intervals 7 Jul 2008 (Forum)
It`s often been said, that extended service intervals have been driven by Fleet considerations and it seems long service intervals are the last thing Main Dealers want. It seems some are now gasping like Carp in a de-oxygenated pond, waiting for the one-bite-at-the-cherry (courtesy of long life oils) new car to come back for its only service in the warranty period. -
Audi A4 B8 (2008 - ) - Multitronic reliability 25 Jun 2008 (Forum)
ve read nasty reports about the longevity of the Multitronic auto box. I know Audi claim to have beefed it up recently (not before time) and it?s too early to tell if that has improved the reliability. It would be useful to hear the full story of this upgrade if anyone knows it. -
Toyota - Unusual tyre size problem 19 Jun 2008 (Forum)
So what range of tyre sizes can safely be fitted and does anyone know of any good places to get aftermarket wheels? 205/60/14's seem to be easy to get, would this leave the overall diameter of the wheel the same? (i.e will the speedo still be correct?) Any advice or ideas will much apreciated :) Tech details as follows: Tyres 225/60/14 14x7 with +8mm offset Stud pattern - 4x114.3m (4.5") -
True CO2 output 16 Jun 2008 (Forum)
or would a well built quality car beat a cheap one that tended to go out of tune more quickly? etc, etc the figures for my 9 year old auto Jag S Type are as follows: Fast Idle.... CO...............0.003% (limit <0.2%) HC...............12 ppm (limit < 200ppm) lambda.........1.008 (limit 0.970 - 1.030) the car is too old to have the CO output on the V5, but a bit of research suggests that this car is shown as being 259 g/km Will I be entitled to look a bit smug... or will I be shot down in flames and have to slink off back to the shadows with my shoulders down. -
Car Manufacturer's Poor Websites 3 Jun 2008 (Forum)
OK, this is something I really do get a bee in my bonnet about. I've been trawling a few sites today gathering information for Mrs Bong!'s new car. What has really struck me is just how bad a lot of these sites are, cumbersome, hard to navigate, spawning new windows (whatever happened to tabs) all over the shop and so on. It's all the worse for us Mac users, most designers seemingly don't even consider that someone may use the site from anything other than a PC. -
Modern diesels - is there really a problem? 26 May 2008 (Forum)
Maybe we'd got the wrong end of the stick, but it's seeing something like that which puts me right off a s/h diesel. And all these diesels that develop problems in later life ......... how many of those are the result of an earlier mis-fueling? -
Audi A3 cabrio (2008 - ) - Showroom impressions 16 May 2008 (Forum)
No idea what it drives like, but it looks quite smart, very quick roof (but only on the top two models), has plenty of room for two adults in the back seats and has a good sized boot, roof up or down, alloys on Sport model are pleasing to the eye. Downside - the price. Three models - standard, sport and S-line. Standard has a semi auto roof, which I think means you have to unclip it at the front before it opens electrically. Other two models have fully auto roofs and for me that would be a must. The spec across the range is very basic and you need to tick a lot of options to get many features which I have come accustomed to on my A3. -
Vauxhall Zafira B (2005 - ) - A-pillar blind spot 16 May 2008 (Forum)
I was driving my wife?s 06 Zafira 2.2 design this weekend and on two occasions I nearly had an accident. Once at a roundabout where I didn?t see a Toyota Previa (I know its huge) and once where as I was turning at a junction a pedestrian crossed the road in front of me I gave him and me a bit of a scare as he was invisible behind the blind spot which is the very thick A pillar. -
Mitsubishi Carisma (1995 - 2004) - 99 1.8 MOT failed on CO emissions 30 Apr 2008 (Forum)
A colleague's Mitsubishi Carisma GDI auto (107,000 miles) has failed the MOT on CO emissions. Natural idle test gave 0.93% CO (limit 0.3%). Two fast... -
Odd habits re driving/parking 19 Apr 2008 (Forum)
There were a couple of free spaces 4 cars away and the further you went from the main building, the more sporadic spaces there were, until eventually the car park was virtually empty eventually a rather battered Omega estate pulled up with two 60 something occupants, they parked in one of the disabled bays...no problem so far as they had a badge displayed..but then got out and walked off elsewhere towards where all the empty parking spaces were this meant that not only had they parked further away than they needed to, they'd taken a disabled bay right o/s the building that someone else might have needed. I can only presume the mentality was i've got a permit so i'm going to utilise it how strange -

Citroen ZX (1992 - 1998) - 1997 1.4 running hot 24 Feb 2008 (Forum)
t think this is electrical. I am going to change the water and oil this weekend ? I was also wondering if it?s imperative you vacuum fill the system on these to prevent air pockets as the Haynes manual describes using an empty bottle with an ?O? Ring to vacuum fill the radiator while the engine is running? -
Vauxhall Astra F (1991 - 1998) - 95 1.4 petrol - Not Starting... 19 Feb 2008 (Forum)

Suzuki - New AA Warranty Catastrophe Cover: is it worth it? 8 Feb 2008 (Forum)
Costing £8.99, rather than the regular £25 a month, it is intended to provide major mechanical breakdown repairs, but carries a higher excess of £300. Costly problems flagged up by the AA include automatic transmission and cam belt failures. ?It?s the costly threat of a broken gearbox, failed engine or other catastrophic problems that most concerns people when they take out insurance,? said AA Warranty managing director Simon Tennyson. His company specialises in motor warranty and residual value-based gap insurance products". -
Peugeot 306 (1993 - 2001) - 98 electrical problems 6 Jan 2008 (Forum)
There are two minor but annoying electrical problems on my wife's 306. The interior lights do not work when opening the drivers door but do with the n/s door. The door switch is not one where it shorts the power to earth but there should be two wires but there is only one on that side. I have tried hard to find a detached cable in the body space without any luck. -
3 kids - what car? 30 Dec 2007 (Forum)
I would much rather have RWD but I can see the arguments over who sits in the middle already :-( Is there a car anywhere that can accommodate three rapidly growing kids in the back, yet still offer decent performance and handling? New or Used I am seriously considering selling the disco and the supra and buying 2 mini cooper S and accept the fact that when we go anywhere as a family we will take two cars!!! -
Last Chance Saloon Award 15 Dec 2007 (Forum)
Many years ago ( early 1980's ) a company which supplied ours had an "incentive" scheme for their sales reps. The deal was that all reps were issued with identical Cortinas as their standard car. The company also owned one Aston Martin and one Skoda.
