  • Strong Bidding at Brooklands Classic Auction 12 Jun 2007 (News)
Arguably the best-value car of the day was the rare 1961 AC Greyhound, one of just 83 cars in the entire production run. Of that original number, just 66 are known to the AC Owners’ Club today. This example, Chassis No. 2523, still had its original West Sussex registration number and had been the subject of an extensive chassis-up restoration at vast expense including a re-paint in Aston Martin metallic green.
  • eBay Auction Report – 12th June 2005 16 Jun 2005 (News)
A 1992J 5dr Citroen ZX 1.4 Advantage made £190, whereas a 1991J Peugeot 309 1.1 Trio with an MOT about to run out made £121. Finally, a sorry looking 1993K, 88k mile, Rover Metro 1.1 Quest 3dr with no tax or Mot, a duff battery, but the potential to run made £50. One to watch: The 52 plate MG ZT-T+ estate with 31,000 miles made it up to £6,100.

  • Hidden Heroes: Volkswagen Jetta GTi 26 Jul 2019 (News)
While everyone knows what a Mk2 Golf is all about and can instantly identify with one, the Jetta is a more specialist cup of tea.  It’s a great car, which shares the Golf’s running gear and much of its interior, but it’s neither uniquely handsome nor as well-known as the legendary hatchback on which it’s based.  As a result, it’s a rare beast, with less than 50 GTis still registered on UK roads, compared to more than 3000 Mk2 Golf GTis.
  • A Grand Monday: Jaguar XJ6 3.2 Sport 4 Jun 2018 (News)
Plus, while no Jaguar will be a paragon of fuel economy, the 3.2 is at least relatively sensible over long distances, with MPG in the high 20s achievable on a run. Droopy headlining aside (they all do that, sir...), the interior looks to be in stunning condition, while the optional 'Dimple' brushed alloy wheels appear pretty decent.
  • A Grand Monday: Yugo 45a Tempo 9 Apr 2018 (News)
.  Known as the Zastava Koral in the former Yugoslavian Republic, the new supermini was based on the platform and running gear of the Fiat 127, but packaged in a new three-door body that, while a little plain, was quite contemporary. Build quality was cheap and cheerful, but the Yugo was also ridiculously inexpensive, undercutting the likes of Lada, FSO and Skoda against which it competed in the budget market of the 1980s.

  • A Grand Monday: Ford Mondeo 31 Jul 2017 (News)
.  But suddenly, they all seem to have disappeared from our roads, victims of a descent into banger territory, be that as run-on-a-shoestring family hacks, or going out in a blaze of glory on the oval.  Here, then, is a rare one-owner survivor .
  • Edd China to pilot wacky racers around Beaulieu 6 Jul 2017 (News)
Joining Wacky Record Breakers is the world’s fastest fairground dodgem, the world’s fastest pram and a mobility scooter that also once held its own speed record. Driven by Top Gear’s The Stig for a record-breaking run, the customised 1960s dodgem topped more than 100mph - far quicker than the 5mph it would have seen when working at a fairground. A 600cc Honda motorcycle engine provides the get-up-and-go for this madcap machine.
  • Fuel price round-up 12 Jun 2017 (News)
Fuel prices are of even more importance since it was revelealed that only one in 10 cars hits its advertised mpg . Misleading fuel economy figures can add more than £1000 to the long-term running costs of some of the UK's best-selling cars. Click here  to check your Real MPG or to add your car's MPG figures to our database.
  • Barn Found Aston Martin DB6 Offered at No Reserve in Historics Ascot Auction 1 Apr 2017 (News)
A tool roll and minimal paperwork accompany this exciting discovery as well as an Aston Martin Heritage certificate and build sheets.  Whether the winning bidder gets it running and leaves it in its delightfully faded-glory (which would be the cool and financially sensible thing to do) or spends hundreds of thousands restoring it will be up to him or her. Other lots include a 1969 Alfa Romeo 1750 GTV, estimated at £25,000 and many more.
  • Classics rev up for Monte Carlo rally 25 Jan 2017 (News)

He joined some of the entrants who’ll be heading off on Burns Night as they proudly posed with their cars in the shadow of a statue of the Bard in Paisley’s Fountain Gardens.
  • A Grand Monday: Vauxhall Vectra 28 Nov 2016 (News)
Rather than spend its life being thrashed up and down motorways, or acquiring sticky stains on the school run, it has had a mollycoddled existence. And as a result, there can't be many Mk1 Vectras left in as good condition. For a few quid short of a grand (and we reckon there's room to haggle) this is one of those cars that, if you buy now, will be something of a curio in the really quite near future.
  • A Grand Monday: Fiat Cinquecento 7 Nov 2016 (News)
At £450, we reckon this has the potential to be an absolute bargain – the Cinquecento’s appeal will surely soon catch on, in common with all small Fiats before it, so this is a sure-fire on-the-cusp classic that really deserves to be preserved. Its low running costs also make it an ideal first classic, especially for younger drivers.
  • A Grand Monday: Renault 11 Broadway 5 Sep 2016 (News)
But it's also the name of a rather basic special edition of Renault’s fair-to-middling 1980s mid-sizers… The Renault 9 and 11 ’Broadway’ models were introduced in 1986 as a run-out special, ahead of the humdrum hatch and staid saloon’s mid-life facelift, which brought in an angular new nose and more plush interiors. And here’s a rare survivor. This 1986 Renault 11 Broadway has been off the road for years, as it comes from a deceased estate.
  • 885-mile Mercedes 190E Evo II heads to auction 9 Aug 2016 (News)
.’ Twenty-five years ago, the 190 E 2.5-16 Evolution II was unveiled at the Geneva International Motor Show. Legend has it that the limited run of 502 cars were sold pre-launch, possibly being squirrelled away by international car collectors. The bitter rivalry between BMW and Mercedes-Benz in saloon car racing at the time throughout Europe helped hone the greatest touring cars of the era.
