Accident Advice 18 Jan 2020 (Forum)
The old man is fuming that his insurance have gone behind his back and done this. I now refuse to use the hire car as I have no intention in carrying on with the claim. My car is still in use at my home address. My question is- "can a insurance company do this to a policy holder after they had informed them we had a private mutual agreement on repairs? -
Audi A3 Fsi Sport 2.0 petrol - Audi; repair or scrap? 24 May 2013 (Forum)
November 2012 head gasket gone again. Garage claimed new gasket and bolts under warranty from VW and old garage said as a goodwill gesture they would only charge me £300 to fit (labour wasn't covered under VW warranty as not a VW approved repairer). January garage finally finished the car. -
Vauxhall Astra - Brake pad problem 7 Sep 2013 (Forum)
At the time of the service, the mileage was 13962. On 1st August, the car passed it's MOT but I was advised to get the rear brake pads replaced. I took it to Kwik Fit on 6th September for a brake inspection (I had only used my car on rare occasions since it's MOT) and they called me to say that the offside rear brake pad had worn away completely, as well as the brake disc. -
All makes and models - All cars are unreliable according to this site 11 Aug 2016 (Forum)
What surprises me even more is that BMW, Audi and VW are always way down the list of most unreliable cars. Could it be that most of these sites cut/paste details off the Warranty Direct or Warranty Wise sites so the source of these so-called best/worst cars are all coming from one place and that WD and WW use all sorts of algorithms such as ‘cost to repair’ (which is why Bentley comes up as most unreliable car according to their site)? -
Honda Accord UK (2003 - 2008) - 04 Tourer diesel at 100k miles 18 Mar 2008 (Forum)
It has 10hp less than the Passat it replaced but I would consider it to be as fast (if not faster) and the performance is far more usable. It is also a useful car for single carriageway overtaking. Lights - headlights are great, never seen anything with such a well defined beam edge on dip! The fog lamp is actually on the wrong side of the car (LHS) but I belive they have corrected this on the later versions. -
Skoda Yeti - EA189 Emissions Update - my experience 2 Apr 2018 (Forum)
I'd assumed the worsening fuel economy was a direct consequence of the increased fuel injected to facilitate frequent active regeneration? As the car is approaching the end of the manunfacturers warranty I was pondering options - keep the car long-term, sell it (it was advertised on here for several months, with no interest, despite being the cheapest 140 TDi 4x4 currently onsale) or possibly part-ex. -
New Ford Focus 1.6 TDCI Estate - Clutch Pedal Problems 3 Jan 2016 (Forum)
After multiple visits to a dealer they traced the issue to a faulty clutch pedal return spring which once they found a part (which took 3-weeks) they replaced it under warranty and all was ok for a couple of months. However now when the car hasn't been used for a few days or if on a motorway for a long period (i.e the clutch hasn't been depressed for a while) when i depress the clutch pedal the gear engages but the pedal only comes 1/2 way back up; I again have to flick it all the way up with my foot. -
Passat TDi Sport - Suspension too soft? 6 Feb 2004 (Forum)
I\'m not too happy with the way my Passat behaves on rough roads - at the NSL it tends to be fairly bouncy/wallowy with too much tilt/lean on sharp bends, and has even scraped the ground, which is obviously not something I want to happen again. New shocks all round (fitted FOC under used warranty) helped to reduce but not eliminate the yo-yo problem - dealership has since checked again but found no problems (so they say). Anyway, I reckon that if I want to keep the car I\'ll need to sort this out myself, but I don\'t feel I have enough basic knowledge about the way shocks, springs, bushes etc work - I\'ve come across various brand names (eg Koni, Bilstein) and ratings but have no real understanding of their meaning. -
Mondeo corrosion problem 31 Dec 2003 (Forum)
Quite simply, my brother is amazed that Ford can claim that seven Mondeo's can all have corrosion in an identical area, and nowhere else and that a stone could squeeze under the door, right up into a tiny corner and chip the paint, and on both sides too! Now the question is, is this a known problem on Mondeos, certainly there is nothing in the Car-by-Car Breakdown, and have any of you out there experienced the same. Any feedback would be useful as brother is not going to let it lie and I get the feeling he feels a campaign coming on, not for the first time! -
Diesel - Engine tuning the truth 7 Apr 2016 (Forum)
Hi people I did think this was an honest website but things I have read about remapping/ engine tuning are all wrong . If you have used a good Remapper then the file will not brake your car , so do a little digging into the company you would like to use , find out WHO they get their files from (50% buy good quoilty files) if they won't tell you avoid them as it will be a cheap knocked up crap that will damage your car pritty quick . -
Mazda 6 TS TD 143 - Major problems with my used car, my rights? 14 May 2012 (Forum)
I bought a 2006 Mazda 6 diesel in January of this year. The car had done 85000 miles and was sold to me with a 12 month warranty by a local independent... -
Insurance? Unfair? 30 Jan 2004 (Forum)
With the car being so new I thought I'd take it to the Honda garage I bought it from. Obtained estimate, contacted Ins co with it. "book the car in sir and our engineer will come out and look at it and authorise repairs" Problem 1. -
Dacia Duster - 2014 - Help with Renault/Dacia complaint 11 Oct 2019 (Forum)
No contact from Renault or the garage during this time except for me having to ask for an extension on the rental car as I had Enterprise ringing me to say they hadn't extended it. Eventually after 4.5 weeks I was told my car was ready. I collected my car the keys were just handed to me no apology was made just bluntly told where to find my car in the car park and off I went. -
KIA Picanto (2004 - ) - problem picantos 24 Jan 2012 (Forum)
Furthermore KIa were not prepared to provide even one courtesy car for the 3 weeks it was going to take to fix the cars. In the end our dealer, who also happened to be a Peugot dealer, registered 2 brand new peugot 207s for our use, they were brilliant. I understand from the dealer that this has now happened on several vehicles, some of them just out of warranty so incurring hefty bills for the owners. -
DIY - Is it required? 16 Nov 2005 (Forum)
Since then, whilst I have kept an eye on the famil's cars, even the older cars have not needed any work that I had the expertise and/or equipment to work on. The newer cars require servicing by the dealer or the warranty is invalid and the older cars require an MOT which is included with a £60 service. -
Discovering the joys of diesel 14 Jul 2004 (Forum)
And the thing is, with traffic being as it is these days (even here on the Isle of Man at busy times), it's not like it actually takes me any longer to get to places than it did in the BMW or the Type-S, it just costs an awful lot less. I set off at the same times I used to, I arrive at the same times I used to, I allow the same times for journies that I used to. I've opted out of "cars for fun" or "cars as status symbols" side of things, I just want cheap, reliable, practical motoring. -
BMW 3 Series Touring or Audi Q3 - Audi A3 stolen from my drive. Replacement? 28 Apr 2019 (Forum)
Solid dependable etc Audi Q3-love this but can't seem to find many decent newish models for this price apart from atArnold Clark who I am not using! Paying a premium for an A3 as SUV BMW 3 series touring.320d sport - OK - I LOVE this car. I really do. I have found a 66 plate with 10k on it for £16k. about 6 months warranty left. -
Hyundai Coupe (2002 - 2008) - Not quite so reliable, 40k report 8 May 2009 (Forum)
The fan controls give no control over the lowest three settings, the OFF button doesnt turn it off at all and most annoyingly, unless the fan is on level 4 or higher, the fan surges up and down speeds. It must be said though that Hyundai seem to have no issue with warranty issues and there is never a hint of having to argue your case. The car itself mum loves but myself I dont much like the stiff gearbox or heavyish steering, plus the arkwardness of getting in and out of it! -
Renault Modus (2004 - ) - Modus - short term experience 1 Jun 2008 (Forum)
I keep looking for another 2 gears to change up through I've come to the conclusion that the only function of cars like this is for Renault dealers to use as courtesy cars, so when you get your own car back, it benefits by comparison ! Now.... it was supplied with the screenwash reservoir completely empty. If I fill it up, and leave a half empty bottle of screenwash on the passenger seat, how much would it be fair to charge the dealer ;-) -
Honda Accord power "blips" 4 Jan 2002 (Forum)
Hi all, Just before Christmas I bought a 2001 Honda Accord 2.0i VTEC with 10000 miles on it through the official UK Honda used car network, with 2 years 2 months manufac warranty left on it. Pretty much since Day 1 I've noticed little power "blips", but sort of put it down to my imaginatiom, but it definitely happened 3 or 4 times on the way into work today (16 mile drive) and in my own head I know it's been happening all along.
