  • Citroen Berlingo Multispace (1998 - 2010) - 2005 2.0 Towbar Wiring - access to battery 21 Jul 2008 (Forum)
I managed to get the wire as far as the front passenger footwell using the existing channel located on the n/s under the plastic floor trim, but I cannot find anyway to get from the footwell into the engine compartment. (The existing loom seems to be routed between the inner and outer front wing, but I can see no way to use that same route without removing the front wing!)
  • Rover 25 (1999 - 2005) - 04 1.6 Starting prob - lights on but delayed start 20 Jun 2008 (Forum)
The problem is erratic but it will still happen even if just previously started successfully, also makes no difference if it?s hot or cold. The garage did get the same problem happen to them, but no fault recorded. Any thoughts / ideas would be very welcome! Thanks.

  • Renault Clio III 197 (2006 - 2009 ) - Experience of Renault Clio Sport 197 15 Feb 2008 (Forum)
I spoken around and it seems you either get a good one or a really terrible one. Also consiering a Mini Cooper S which will probably make more financial success. Think is the bespoke naure of the Renault Sports is Very mouthwatering. They are made in their own small factory apparently like much more expensive cars.
  • Selfish use of a dropped kerb 15 Feb 2008 (Forum)
In 20 years of living there we never had any trouble at all with parking, even with 3 cars in the household. The new owner (a lady in her late 60's and has been moved in for about 2 weeks) lives on her own and has one car. Speaking with her the other day she said that she was fed up with people parking accross her driveway (she's means people parking outside her house) and is getting the council to extend the dropped kerb to be the full width of the house.
  • Peugeot 406 (1996 - 1998) - 98 1.8 petrol help with cooling fans 9 Jan 2008 (Forum)
Hi If anyone is able to help I would greatly appreciate your advice. My S reg Pug 406 LX 1.8 petrol (with 156000 on the clock) is starting to do my head in. I know how to drive a car, but when it comes to repairing or diagnosing problems I get really stuck. Everytime I turn the ignition off, whether I've done 2 miles or 100 miles, the cooling fans at the front of the car start to kick in.
  • Volkswagen Passat (1997 - 2000) - 00 TDi won't start 13 Dec 2007 (Forum)
i have a 2000 w reg tdi s, passat. after leaving the car stand for a week, i went to start it but the battery was dead. i wnet to jump start it, but the ignition would not recognise my key, so i was advised to leave the ignition on and let the imobiliser reset to my key. after a bout 10 mins it did and it started. i let the car charge itself up for approx 1 hour then drove it with no problems. i then stopped the car and tried to start it again, but the battery again was completely dead, so again i jump started it, but this time the key would not work in the ignition even after trying to reset it, and a coil shape lit up on the dash.
  • SEAT Toledo III (2005 - ) - Service Due Indicator 4 Dec 2007 (Forum)
Firstly, turn on ignition, wait for instrument display to settle down, press and hold down trip meter reset and distance to next service figure (in 100's) will be displayed in place of mileage. Following this the days to next service is shown. When my vehicle indicated next service due some 750 miles sooner than expected I contacted SEAT Customer Services to seek an answer to why.
  • Ford Focus (1998 - 2004) - Oil cap left off 7 Nov 2007 (Forum)
t really see that well, but I?ve cleaned up as best I can, and topped up a little bit. Again because it?s dark can?t really get a decent dipstick indication. Will have a look again tomorrow. Other than cleaning up and getting the oil level right are there other issues I need to consider here? Obviously I will speak to the garage about this but wondered if there could be any serious effects from this mistake.
  • Small accident, disputing agreed value of 'classic' 15 Oct 2007 (Forum)
Of course I could just let my insurers deal with it and I would normally do this but in this case there is something iffy about the VW's value and the alledged amount of damage. Any advice. Thanks s

  • Why is parking so expensive in the UK? 11 Sep 2007 (Forum)
We felt as if the councils of the places we visited were glad to have us there because of the money we were spending. Can't remember last time I felt that in Blighty. s -- Stevie Lakland 44-02 Sunburst Yamaha YTS-23 Mexican Telecaster Alesis Micron

  • BMW 3 Series Touring 3 Jun 2007 (Forum)
For example, if I get a newer, high mileage example to reduce the cost, could I expect reasonable service from it for the above period, whilst at the same time driving a good quality and capable vehicle that has already suffered a great deal of its depreciation in somebody else?s hands. The image/status/prestige isn't that important but service and quality is, hence looking at what I think would be a 'hard wearing' car.
  • Rapeseed oil in diesel 23 Apr 2007 (Forum)
Smoke seems to be down, and a cold start was much less 'fragrant' :^D I don't want to do it often without paying the tax (It's more due to the fact I like mucking about with this sort of thing than trying to extort ££££'s from Gordorn Brown). So I'd like to pay the tax so that I can safely keep dabbling and seeing what happens. Is this allowed, and what is the status now regarding 'biofuel'? I remember it has to have below a certain level of sulphur and above a certain level of esters, but I'm no chemist.
  • Does Mk3 1.6 Golf have a pierberg carb? 21 Apr 2007 (Forum)
Ever since Mrs S's MR2 got rear ended she has been hankering after another convertible, so having a little time in hand on the way home today we stopped for a impluse look round the local cheap & cheerful cars sales outlet ( ex petrol station; 20/30 cars; £500 to £5k ) 1995 Mk3 convertible, 84k, 1.6 ( I think ) petrol. but it looks like it has a squashed carburettor between the air filter and the inlet manifold; is this the dreaded Pierberg contraption that I read so much about on the forum, or is it a harmless form of fuel injection?
  • Lies, Damn Lies and Fuel computers 20 Apr 2007 (Forum)
Hi, My last three cars have all had fuel computers and they have all been quite accurate. Although I haven't got a great deal of data to go on , I have just got a new 1.8 TDCi S-Max and it does appear to flatter your ego a bit. My last two fill ups it told me I was getting 51 and 49.8 MPG respectively - LIES. Below is a table of my actual consumption worked out brim to brim.
