  • Mazda Mazda 2 (2003 - 2007) - 07 1.4 Coil pack and HT leads. 31 May 2008 (Forum)
Dealer diagnosed that the coil pack needed replacing and replaced this on May 6th. Then diagnosed that the HT lead was corroded and needed replacing. They cobbled together a HT lead together from another car to keep the two running. I had booked the car in for the 27th May (after our holiday) and was told the HT lead was not due from the factory until the 5th June and this may be subject to delay.
  • Ford Fusion 2 (2003) - Coil pack/leads! 4 May 2013 (Forum)
But, my garage put in another NEW coilpack and HT lead set ... and everything is just fine again. I wonder what are the chances of a new pack and leads going "bad" after a few days (perhaps 100 miles of running at most)? Anyone else seen this.
  • Ford Mondeo 2-litre petrol, '54 reg - Lead/acid, calcium or silver battery 5 Apr 2012 (Forum)
I don't know when Ford started fitting their 'smart' charge system. I know that lead/acid isn't advisable with it, but how do I tell if 'smart' charge. The handbook doesn't help.

  • High spec HT Leads for Mk1 Granada 12 Sep 2005 (Forum)
Hi, Does anyone know the best place to get a high performance/quality set of HT leads for a 1977 Mk1 Ford Granada 3.0? My current ones are prone to breaking down when the car gets too warm. A certain car parts superstore isn't much help.
  • Changing Omega V6 HT leads 4 Apr 2004 (Forum)
I have been assured that my HT leads need changing because of a missfire when it gets hot. A new set of plugs seem to do the trick but when it gets to 1000 to 2000 miles it starts to miss again. Can anyone let me know how to get to the dis between the bulkhead and the left bank ?.
  • Skoda CitigoYeti 1.2 petrol - Supermarket fuel 3 Aug 2013 (Forum)
Vehicle under 2 years old. Engine running rough. Simpsons of Colne discovered that number 3 plug lead was burned out. Diagnosed cause to be use of supermarket (Morrisons) fuel. Therefore not covered by warranty. Cost me £183 for new lead and 4 new plugs. I was shewn neither lead nor plugs and on enquiry was told that they had "gone".

  • Starter motor firework display 3 Oct 2002 (Forum)
During removal of the old starter i failed to disconnect the battery (stuupid!} and had a lot of fireworks, consequently i replaced the burnt out negative battery lead and the negative lead from the battery to the starter motor housing located at the remote end of the starter motor (away from the the starter armature end). I have connected the positive lead from the battery to the solenoid main threaded connector, however when i connect the battery up i get fireworks at the battery terminal, so obviously stop at this stage, it is a descallier unit and 1986 renault 5 model. note that when dissambling the unit i could not visually see the connection of the direct battery negative lead to the starter casing,i discovered the loose lead only after my first attempt failed to turn the starter which by the way in this initial condition seemed to activate the solenoid plunger as a click was heard, as i kept the old starter unit i figured that the loose lead must have been taken off when i removed the remote end bolt, as the removal operation involved no visual contact with this fixing so i was not aware that anything had been disconnected. two questions. 1) Is the wiring correct i.e negative battery lead direct to the solenoid casing, positive to the solenoid main pin 2) If so why am i almost fried each time i connect up the battery terminals The remainder of the electrics lights wipers etc: are ok. without the negative lead to the solenoid hooked up of course Appreciate any tips anybody can offer > > joe corcoran >
  • Ford Fiesta Flight 1.3 Endura E (mk4 02) - Lumenition / Splitfire / Magnecor HT Leads 22 Apr 2014 (Forum)
seen a set also on EuroCarParts for Endura engined Ford Ka's exactly same length (and another set that's different)..... but not sure if they're exactly the same... I know you can get Lumenition/Splitfire/Magnecor lead sets for the Ford Ka, but it doesn't mention if they fit my Fiesta too. Was looking at the Lumenition ones at Demon Tweeks (just would be listed in Inches while Eurocarparts has the Herth+Buss ones in metric), and getting 1x 30" (762mm) lead & 3x 36" (914.4mm) leads, but still not 100% positive with the one of the ones in the set listed on Eurocarparts being a teensy bit longer (930mm / 36.614") wasn't sure in case one of them ended up a bit short (unless I route it a bit different?).
