  • VIDEO: MINI Countryman - big MINI, massive costs, medium fun 19 Mar 2018 (News)
Despite being a full-sized family car, the MINI Countryman is compact and agile behind the wheel; if you want a crossover that's fun to drive, BIG MINI is it.  But it's far from flawless - especially the Cooper S E plug-in hybrid. Mark takes you through it.
VIDEO: Suzuki Ignis - super car with kryptonite looks 25 Aug 2017 (News)
...assuming you can deal with its challenging looks. That's Mark's take on it, anyway. He reckons driving one is like wearing Superman's underpants. It'll make sense when you watch it. Possibly.  Click the play icon above to watch.

  • Forget Speeding in France 3 May 2004 (News)

  • Hidden Hero: Peugeot 307 GT Feline 13 Sep 2019 (News)
No 307 was utterly engaging to drive, but they did have a good ride and an impressive amount of grip. Dynamically (if you could get used to the horrid driving position), it was at the upper end of passable. In 2005, aware that the 307 had been chastised about as much as its 306 predecessor had been praised, Peugeot decided it was time to apply some lipstick to its pig.

  • Hidden Heroes: Vauxhall Vectra Super Touring 30 Nov 2018 (News)
Excitement isn’t necessarily a word you’d associate with the original Vauxhall Vectra, a car that was perceived to be so dull that Top Gear host Jeremy Clarkson refused to drive it. Clarkson was, of course, childishly harsh, but when the best that the original press kit could muster was a chapter entirely devoted to the car’s aerodynamically efficient door mirrors, you did have to wonder.  Of course, the Vectra B was nowhere near as bad as Clarkson projected - but dynamically there were other cars that outshone it and, as a result, it was always a car that was considered average at best.

  • A Grand Monday: DAF 44 30 Jan 2017 (News)
Something sensible, functional, capable and ordinary. It's a far cry from the Dutch manufacturer's car making days, where it offered rear-wheel-drive small saloons. The original DAF Daffodil from 1959 and its successor, the 33, used a 746cc air-cooled engine, while in 1964 the DAF 44 was introduced, powered by an upgraded 844cc engine developing a heady 34bhp.
  • A Grand Monday: Nissan Micra, £599 6 Jun 2016 (News)
