Skoda Octavia 2010 1.6 diesel - Removing DPF 28 Dec 2011 (Forum)
I have had a Octavia Diesel since February 2010. It is now beginning to have a rumbling gearbox, but it has always had a tendency to have a stutter on the power delivery, and tends to lose power slightly intermittently (as if the brakes have been lightly applied), and fuel consumption has gradually dropped. -
Saab 95 2.2diesel - smoking diesel 24 Aug 2010 (Forum)
I have an 04 plate Saab 95 2.2 turbo diesel, that has started to run very rough. it has 55,000 on the clock, and was serviced @50,000. it starts without any problem, and runs well until it gets up to temperature, then it runs very rough, blows too much smoke, and is using too much fuel (down from av. 45 mpg to 38 mpg). -
Ford Mondeo 1 (1993 - 1996) - 96 1.8 Diesel will not turn off 14 Nov 2008 (Forum)
Friend's high mileage 95-96 Mondeo Diesel now will not switch off, unless stalled in 5th gear. Suggested Cause : Solenoid buried in fuel pump gone... Part cost is less than £30, but labour quoted around £600 at indep. garage... Does anyone know how big a job (hours) this is? -
Warming up a diesel? 11 Feb 2008 (Forum)
I've had conflicting advice on how to correctly warm up a diesel engine. 1) change gear at around 2.2k rpm 2) change gear at around 3k rpm ... changing at 3k does make it warm up a lot quicker and even improves fuel economy but i was told not to rev too high or hard until warm. -
Peugeot 306 (1993 - 2001) - 2000 - HDI Diesel that kangeroos in the wet 15 Jan 2008 (Forum)
I have a 2000 HDI diesel that in the dry runs perfectly. As soon as it gets wet, the engine management light comes on and the engine split second cuts out intermittently when driving. Fine when idling. Local Peugeot dealer states replace some sensor on the fuel pump at a cost of £500. -
Picasso, Petrol in Diesel tank 25 Oct 2005 (Forum)
A neighbour of mine recently purchased a Picasso diesel. After signing for the vehicle, the salesman drove him to the local Tesco, one and a half miles away, and put £40 worth of fuel in to it.On the way back 1 mile from Tesco the engine stopped and was started and driven 1/2 mile to showroom, where he was told that the salesman had put petrol into the tank. After waiting 4 hours he was told everything was O.K. now and he took the car home.He has had no trouble since, but wonders if any long term damage has been done -
Renault and the cold 7 Mar 2005 (Forum)
We will be going in our Megane but should I have anything done to it to prepare it for a rather unpleasant experience. It's only one year old so will still have the factory antifreeze in. Also does diesel freeze up these days or is that something from the past? In the past on the farm we used to put some petrol in the diesel tanks to stop the fuel waxing but I wouldn't want to do that on a modern hi-tech diesel and it may not be necessary anyway. -
Mazda 6 diesel cuts out 2 Mar 2005 (Forum)
Ive got a 2003 Mazda 6 136bhp diesel that on occasion sometimes cuts out when the engine is at tick-over. It can happen at random and there is no warning. The CEL (Check engine light) does not illuminate, and therefore I am thinking it could be a fuel problem, namely dragging some air through the system. -
Big diesel towcar? 23 Jul 2002 (Forum)
It has been a great towcar for his huge double axle caravan with that torquey 204bhp straight 6. However, the fuel economy was pretty dire and the towing took major strain on the tired mechanical components of the car. So now we are on the lookout for a big diesel that will tow a large caravan and still be relatively economical for day to day use. -

Ford focus econotec diesel 2008 - Car chooses when to start - Help!! 21 Aug 2021 (Forum)
The car was towed to our mechanic. He looked at at and said it wasn't the EGR Valve. He ran a computer diagnostic test, a diesel injector leakage test, fuel pressure removal, cleaning and refitting, he changed the fuel filter and added liquid moly diesel purge fuel system cleaner. The car started and ran fine. A few days later it stopped again. -

Toyota Corolla - Unusual breakdown 6 Nov 2011 (Forum)
It seems the lady driving it had just borrowed it and succeeded in filling this petrol car with diesel. The AA guy who was pumping the fuel out said she'd managed to get the large diesel nozzle far enough in to fill without spilling, quite an achievement, probably not appreciated by whoever she'd borrowed it from. -

Fair Fuel UK/Panorama etc 27 Oct 2011 (Forum)
Did anybody see Panorama last night 'The Great Fuel Robbery' mostly about the trading of illegal petrol and diesel in the UK. The footage from a backstreet Belfast petrol station showing cabbies filling up on 86.9p diesel and some of the seizures by HMRC were quite staggering.
