  come on then , the big one.......... i do it and i always have, never noticed any damage, but then again i do polish and wax the car 4 times a year. is that whats saved my paint work or is it aload of old tosh

  My dad wants to replace his 2004 C-Max 1.6 110 TDCi Zetec. It's done 80k, over 70k in his hands since 12 months old. It was bought from a local car supermarket and has only needed routine servicing + tyres over his ownership. The car is liked for it's ease of entry and egress (Mum/Dad in their mid-60s, and Grandmother in her 90s), low boot lip for loading of wheelchair, and passenger space vs size of car.

  would this be about the right mileage to look at diesels? the cars i'm thinking of are the new accord (perhaps 2-3 years old) 2.2cdti exec, 3 series(old shape perhaps 3-4 years) sport/se spec and the a4 2.0 tdi with a SE spec. am not sure which of these choices seems the best option.

  Been to a couple of auctions lately which have included Motability cars. Some of these are three years old but others are as young as 3 months. Is it safe to assume that all Motability cars would be serviced as per manufacturers guidelines so therefore any remainder of the 3 year warranty would still be applicable?

  I'm a long time reader of this forum and find myself with a dilemma I would appreciate some help with. My wifes car needs replacing with a mid size petrol car to do 5K miles a year with a budget of 12K to keep for 8 years. I would expect back room advice would say get a Mazda 3 with the 2 litre engine, the 12K budget brings in 3-4 year old examples of this.

  i have a 13 plate mondeo 24 month old. that has bad corroded alloys. i had the wheels taken off the car and cleaned inside so we coulde see the extent of the corrosion. what a shock we got  .the wheel are corroding from the inside to the outside so i reckon in another 12 month they will be seriously dammaged. the car is only 24 month old and the corrosion isnt coming from damage.

  Our car is less than 4 years old and we have had since new (Sept 2010). It has done 40,000 miles and serviced by Mercedes. Recently we have noticed an intermittent high pitched whine coming from what seems to be the auto gear box.

  I have recently changed by 2010 BMW 320i Touring for a new 2013 model - same spec. I have a set of BMW supplied alloys and winter tyres for old car but can't use them on the new vehicle because the tyre size has changed from 225/45 R17 on the 2010 model to 225/50 R17 on the 2013 car. Given the width of the tyre is the same and the diameter of the alloy wheels also appers to be identical when I measure it, can I fit new 225/50 tyres to my old alloys or do I need to invest in a new set of both wheels and alloys?

• Ford Focus - ESP System Fault 3 Dec 2010 (Forum)
  Help Live in France and have a 4 year old Focus Ghia 2 Litre TDCI. When it was 3 years old the ESP System Fault sign came up. Knowing nothing at all about cars, went straight to the Ford Garage that services the car to be told that the part alone was 1700 Euros - they told me to write to Ford for assistance as something so expensive should not go after 3 years.

  I've recently been driving the wife's Focus and found that the AM reception is poor when the engine is running with all sorts of weird interference some of which sounds like some sort of digital interference as opposed to the normal sort of buzzing I've had in the past on old cars with poor aerials. She never uses AM but I like Radio 5 so is there any easy way of improving the reception? The car was bought from a Ford Direct dealer at about a year old and I've no idea if the problem's always existed or something's happened since she got it.

  No, not the results of a recent curry engorgement but another story in the Manchester Evening News. 5 year old girl walked off the kerb in her own road and smack into the side of a Prius running on electric. Fortunately it was only doing about 10 mph as it was a council 'patrol ' car looking for ASB etc. Little girl received cut and grazes, presumably from the tarmac and told her mum and police that she didn't hear a car coming.
