Driving an unisured car on your Ins. 3 Jun 2006 (Forum)
Is correct you can drive an uninsured car on your Comprehensive policy providing it has an MOT and Tax, and it will only cover third party. Would this also cover fire and theft. A friend who's car is off the road for major repairs, has been offered an uninsured car to use while his is being repaired. -
Ok to drive with no bumper? 23 Apr 2006 (Forum)
I'll be doing a bit of DIY on the rear of my car, and it would be convenient to leave the rear bumper off whilst continuing to drive the car. Will I be contravening the Construction and Use regulations in any way? Neither the number plate nor any lights are incorporated in the bumper, by the way. What about the insurance situation should I be hit from behind? -
Reversing method 18 Mar 2006 (Forum)
The saga of my daughter's driving continues. She failed her second driving test this week. Going forward, she's a competent enough driver to pass. But her reversing isn't good. As this saga has been going on through 18 months of lessons it's becoming an expensive problem and living in Northern Scotland, with its dearth of public transport, we really need her to be able to drive. -
Left Hand Drive Car 26 Jan 2006 (Forum)
Hi all, Got a car which is left hand drive, which could come over to the UK to be registered and used. It uses LPG already so almost makes sense as the conversion has already been done, and the cost of LPG in our area is still around 39p/l. -

Auto v Manual 16 May 2004 (Forum)
For motorway cruising, I cannot see why it makes a difference. What do others drive, and why? -
rain and headlights 15 Dec 2003 (Forum)
surely a situation even more irritating than the boys who drive around with there fog lights on (at least you can see 'em) its the morons who drive on dual carrigeways and motorways in driving rain and spray with no headlights at all!!! it must be high time for a law that states when you have your wipers on your light go on too? -
When to Discuss Prices 22 Jan 2003 (Forum)
I am buying a used car soon (£8,000) and wonder when should I haggle/discuss the price of the car. Do I do a test drive first and then discuss the price or should I do it the other way round? I don't want to waist time test driving something that latter I wont agree on the a price, should I then agree on the price subject to a satisfactory test drive & inspection? -
(another) Insurance question.... 10 Dec 2002 (Forum)
Would someone please explain why it should be of any concern to an insurer just how many cars an insured has 'access' to? I can drive my wife's car as a named driver - so what? I have a 'classic' (well it's a classic to me!) separately insured which I can also drive - so what? How does that alter the fact that 99% of the time I will be driving the car for which I'm applying for insurance??? -
Driving Licence Renewal 10 Dec 2002 (Forum)
Is this a trick question i.e. if I ring to ask will I will be told "It is up to you to remember" and be penalised if I can't? I am certainly not suffering from any driving disability at present. -
Driving and phones ... 14 Aug 2002 (Forum)
Had a call today in my office, and the bloke was driving along while chatting, burbling along 19-to-the-dozen... I was getting pretty bored with the conversation, and trying to think of an excuse to get him off the line, when I heard the "woowooo" of a police siren over the line. -
Don't Drive Tired 10 Apr 2002 (Forum)
I see the powers that be are pleading that we "Don't Drive Tired" on various motorways via overhead signs. Whilst I applaud the sentiment, do the panel feel that this will really make a tired driver pull over in the next services area for a kip? I also wonder why these signs always seem to have their messages corrupted (certainly the ones on the M27 do anyway) - Is this a national problem or just confined to the south coast? -
Driving tests 2 Jan 2002 (Forum)
I saw a prog' on TV yesterday that talked about taking a driving test in the Scilly Isles. The main island has only 3 roads, totaling 8 miles in lenght. A read too that you can take a test on Barra {in the Outer Hebs}, only 1 road - about 6 miles in lenght, mainly single track. -
What car did you learn to drive in? 11 Feb 2016 (Forum)
However I found a new instructor and found he taught me in a completly different way, suddenly I understood driving and he let me make all my own mistakes without nagging me constantly. He had a Clio III I found the car a bit boring but easy to drive, rather like you're driving on ice but in control. I took my test in October that year and passed with four minors. -
Chevrolet Captiva - Will I get a driving ban? 26 Mar 2012 (Forum)
I was stopped by the police for driving through a bus gate (I didn't think it applied at 7pm) and was just going to get a fine (no points) until they checked my details and discovered my license had been revoked. So they charged me with driving without a valid license (and later phoned me to add driving without valid insurance as having a revoked license would invalidate my policy) they seized my car and left me to walk home. -
Honda CR-V - Honda CRV Auto door lock when driving 28 Dec 2024 (Forum)
Hello I have a Honda CR-V EX hybrid AWD 2021 model. I like to have the doors auto lock when I first drive off and reach a certain speed or just have the doors locked when I put the car in D drive. I can't seem to find this option. There are many youtube videos that show walk away auto lock, but i can't find this option either. -
Supercar driving experience? 5 Sep 2023 (Forum)
I fancy going supercar driving experience days. Since they are quite pricey, want to ensure I get most out of my money. I want to choose cars which I can drive safely while still having fun. I don't want to be in a situation that I floored the throttle, then immediately spun and ended up in a ditch! -
Volvo XC70 - Can I drive my new car without the new keepers ? 25 Jan 2023 (Forum)
I have photos of the v5 all pages and it's insured and taxed. I'm just waiting on green slip with royal mail and the V5. So can I drive it if I don't have the green new keepers slip, but have a photo of it? And if it's taxed and insured? Surely it's just like driving a hire car until it's properly in my name? Thanks
