  Hardly a showstpper problem, but does anyone know where the daylight sensor for the automatic headlights is? SWMBO's headlights stay on in the daytime with the switch  in "auto", so either the sensor has failed or something is obscuring it.

  Main reason for buying my Honda CRV automatic was ease of entry/access due to a stiff back. Now find that short seat squab causes bad ache in right upper thigh and knee. Any recommendations please for a car which will overcome these problems.

  I'm changing the drive belt and 'fan'belt on a 1.8 volvo gdi engine. Does anyone know if the tensioner is automatic on this (no owners HAYNES for this particular engine). Also does anyone know what the tension should be? Appreciate any help.

    Ford automatics are hit and miss (not the powers*** or the newest t/c which are too new), some models, such as the Mk 1 and 2 Mondeo were notorious in the US where it was sold as the Contour for eating gearboxes.. but then we have JohnF's focus which soldiers on without maintenance!

  Hi, My 'other half' has got a '07 Ford Focus automatic with the conventional torque converter auto 'box. She's got an automatic-only license & does 25k a year (most days she's driving round the city all day so the automatic is a real benefit).

  I have owned my car for a few months and it has been working Okay. I seldom have used the trip tronic side of the automatic gearbox. (But it works fine) Generally I just use normal auto driving and all gears have been and still work fine.   Recently I have noticed a “rattle” noise coming from I believe inside the automatic box or around the box.

    Seen two examples of A Class 2009-2012, different engine sizes 1500 and 1700 (manual cars)  Does the bigger engine justify expense ? Are the automatics for this car reliable ?   Thanks for any help.

  The sage wrote something about automatic gearboxes v/s manual.   I read it once and was impressed by the brevity, clarity and style of his writing.   I also remember that it was forthright.   Do any of the BRs have a clue as to where to find the text ?
