  ive seen on other motoring fora a tendency to reset the cars ECU when rough running is present....i think the proceedure is to disconnect the battery for 5 mins put the ignition in the on position,then off and then re connect the battery...then the ECU re learns all the settings and timing etc etc........does it actually work?

  hi im still having problems with rubish mpg no fault codes are coming up local diesel specialst cannot find anything wrong so im thinking the ecu may have been badly mapped please help me its doing my head in now !!!!! where abouts do i find the ecu and is it the same on a fabia vrs

  I have a Peugeot XTB 1.6 1999 modell . Does anybody know which OBD version the ECU is using for this model? (OBDII or earlier..) The plug is J1962 , but a OBDII/EOBD reader I tried ,could not communicate with the ECU , so maybe the french has got their own protocols for pre 2000 modells, does anybody know ?

  Can anyone tell me if a 2001 306 hdi would have an ecu that learns the drivers style? I was wondering whether it is possible to increase mpg by 'resetting' the ecu? I have just replaced the throttle position sensor too so would it learn about how the car is driven over time or is there a way of kind of clearing the data to start from scratch forgive me if this is a daft and/or vaugue question cheers

  Hi, i have got a mk3 fiesta that i was told had a fuel pump problem, i have changed the fuel pump and sender unit, but still wont start, have had ecu diagnosis, and apparently faults couldnt be cleared and need new ecu, engine fires up, and cranks, but wont go that bit further, Have beem trying 2 get the old ECU out, but cant unclip it.........any ideas please!!!

  ecu makes a clicking sound about every 50 secs or so wit the ignition of and if car is not used for 2 days battery will be flat any idea what the cause might be   cheers

  He said that he has never seen this before and it could be the ECU that is a fault, on the other hand he has never seen a bosch ECU go wrong like this before so it is more likley to be a wiring problem. The really odd thing is when he checked the mileage my car has done the ECU is reporting a meer 87,000,000 km (I haven't added extra zeros, it is eighty seven million kilometers).

  Hi, I have a 2002 1.6 16v astra and it won't start! I have been told its the ecu/immobiliser playing up. I haven't got any fault codes I can pass on but I know it could be a hundred and one different things but question is...... Is it worth buying a 2nd hand kit off eBay or similar that consists of the ecu, the transponder ring thingy and a key chip?

  I bought a used but working ECU.  The garage took it and m y car to be re-coded but the re-coding people say they need the exsisting code for this replacement ECU as without it they can not enter a new one.  Can anyone advise.

  I've had my corsa easytronic for 2 years with no problems but then all of a sudden it wouldn't start and F flashed on the dashboard. By looking at this forum it seemed to be an ECU problem, and the code was P1607 so we sent it off for ECU repair. It went to the netherlands and took two weeks and after putting it back on the car it still wouldnt start. The code is now P1730 clutch actuator.
