Nissan Qashqai (2007 - ) - Petrol v Diesel - fuel consumption/CO2 discrepancy 14 Jan 2010 (Forum)
Not only does it seem odd that a diesel engine of the same size as the petrol verison emits more CO2, but to manage that whilst demonstrating better fuel consumption seems contradcitory. Am I missing something here? -

I have replaced the diesel fuel tank in a mk5 fiesta TDi as it had a hole it and failed the MOT. The fiesta is now refusing to start. I tried to bleed the fuel system by filling the fuel filter with diesel and loosened the injectors nuts one at a time while turning he engine over to try get all the air out. -

n/a - Petrol/diesel can be hard to find in France. 30 May 2016 (Forum)
Best advice is to fill before you get on the ferry and top up as you go in France wherever you can find fuel on your journey. Diesel is the first fuel to run out at fuel stations, about 70% of cars are diesel over here. UL95 seems to be more readily available The shortages have been worse in the north and north-west but are spreading south. -
Any - Costco Fuel 29 Sep 2019 (Forum)
Not wanting to start another supermarket vs branded fuel debate, but I’ve just fuelled up at Costco for 123.7 per litre for their Premium Diesel. I’ve no idea if there is a legal definition of what is premium so far as fuel is concerned, but it’s still 4p per litre cheaper than my regular Tesco diesel. -
Kia rio - Fuel economy takes a hit after servicing 21 Mar 2010 (Forum)
I was wondering if other diesel drivers have noticed that after a service the fuel economy takes a hit. I would imagine that the oil has better lubriacting properties after it has carbonised a bit and that the new fuel filter would have an initial bit of resistance to fuel flow. -
Diesel and Water contamination 21 Mar 2002 (Forum)
Would any water residue, however small, remain in this recovered diesel? Would it be enough to damage an engine/fuel pump of a VW TDI ? -
Peugeot 306 diesel 16 Jun 2006 (Forum)

Diesel vehicles achieve fuel mileage superior to hybrids, and are popular in Europe where fuel is very expensive. Five states led by California prevent the sale of diesel cars through strict emissions regulations. -

Ford Galaxy - Diesel or Petrol? 19 Oct 2010 (Forum)
Hi, I want to purchase a 2007 Ford Galaxy and I'm not sure which engine to go for. Which is more economical, the petrol or the diesel? Diesel fuel seems to be priced a fair whack higher than petrol these days, does that offset the better fuel efficiency? I'm not sure whether to go for the 2.0 TDCi diesel or the 2.0 petrol version. -
Peugeot 106 (1991 - 2002) - 96 1.5 Diesel fuel leak after brimming it 16 Jun 2009 (Forum)
New to this car, fill it to the brim and - consternation among the Shell guys - diesel started leaking all over their forecourt. Quickly bought a fuel can and whipped under the leak, but now diagnosing. After around half a litre or so, it stopped, but the fuel was capillaring down to the bottom of the tank, from where I don't know. -

Diesel cetane rating mystery 6 Feb 2016 (Forum)
My car handbook (Verso 1.6D-4D) recommends using diesel with a cetane rating of "48 or higher". Whereas petrol fuels detail their octane rating, I am struggling to find any cetane details for diesel - even fuel manufacturers' websites seem coy on this question. -
Peugeot 106 (1991 - 2002) - (94 L) 1.4 diesel Fuel Pump 20 Nov 2007 (Forum)
They will only fit new parts. One mechanic told me that I needed a diesel specialist as it needs setting up but another told me that is rubbish but he won't do it. The diesel speciallist said it would cost £100 to diagnose that the fuel pump is broken which I have done already and £500 (the value of the car!!) -
Diesel Automatic Fuel Economy 8 Apr 2003 (Forum)
There is a thread in 'Discussion' asking advice about diesel automatics. Somebody wrote: "In theory diesel engines should be better suited to automatic boxes than petrol, because of the way they deliver power and torque." I would also have thought that high torque at low revs - like the big lazy V8s in American cars - would be ideal. -
