  Ref the question ' Pressing matter'. The comment about left foot braking on automatics. Will the automonus city braking prevent a runaway incident where the accelerator is pressed instead of the brake? I have a Kia Niro with this automonous braking feature, and because the parking/emergency brake is foot operated I do not consider left foot braking an option.

  A little problem with my Micra... When the headlights are off and i press the brake pedal, the brake lights work but the side lights also come on. When the headlights are on and i press the brake pedal, the brake lights work but are very very dim, probably illegally so. I'm sure i can sort the problem myself, its just directing the hammer to the right part... :) Iain

  hi recently i have noticed that my brake lights are on even when i an not braking ie stationary with hand brake on i have recently had the brake servo replaced is this problem linked to that? Also any ideas of whether it will be a big job to sort out or relatively straight forward will also be a big help thanks in advance

  Just bought a 2nd hand Megane. When braking gently to a halt I can hear and feel a pulsing on the brake pedal just for the last second or so until car stops. No problem with braking function and it doesn't happen on hard braking, just a bit irritating, anyone got any ideas?!

  A general brakes question, not to do with my own car (despite a brake thread a few days ago. ;-) The hydraulic disc brakes on my mountain bike can use either Dot 4 or Dot 5.1 fluid. At the moment they're actually running on a mixture of both as I bled them a few weeks ago.

  Unnecessary braking seems to have become more prevalent recently, and I can’t help think that if we were all in cars with active cruise control, the instances of a driver overreacting to brake lights, and causing a chain reaction of drivers behind having to brake, would be reduced and traffic would flow more freely.

  Brake goes hard and twangs up and down upon braking and basically stops the brakes working properly.. As it doesn't happen all the time, i've had it to the garage on several occasions and they can't find anything wrong with it..

  Just changed all the brake pads on my Rover 75. Can't get brake pad wear warning light to go out. Have checked all electrical connections again, and made sure there is enough brake fluid in reservoir. Any ideas?

  I have a 2000/X Primera 1.8 which has an issue with the brakes. This happened a few months ago where you could hear a "clunk-click-clunk-click" coming from the NSF brake under light braking when driving slowly. The noise would disappear if the brake pedal was pushed harder.

  Hyundai i10   2010  Manual  1.2     Disc brakes all round. I have a strange intermittent problem with the brakes . When the car is left overnight, at first I experience a "long" pedal  i.e. there is a larger than normal travel before any braking effect is felt.

  Engine management light and warning buzzer come on when braking, even before brakes bite, and go off again when released. All brake linings are ok, the brakes work fine and it had new fluid last November. I'm guessing at faulty brake light switch - anyone got any other ideas?

  had a small fire , repaired wiring loom , front head light , all lights working now all electric functions .working burned brake fluid bottle , replaced brake fluid bottle , now trying to bleed brakes using tis techstream , when connected picks up all dtc codes , as soon as i go to bleed brakes , the message comes up lost comminications.

  Very occasionally when braking, the pedal would go down to the floor with no braking. If the pedal was released and pressed again the brakes were OK. Although this only happened at very low speeds, I had the brakes bled, then a new master cylinder fitted.

  the brake pedal on my 306 has started hissing every time i start up and the brakes are really stiff as well taking their time to kick in, the car has 115k on clock and has abs brakes, to be fair i havent checked the brake fluid being a novice and would appreciate any help / solutions i could get thanks contriutors in advance. by the way it is a 1.9td meriidian on a T plate.

  I have a Rover 400 two litre petrol "V" reg. The front offside brakes have a knocking sound felt through the brake pedal when slowing from around 20 miles an hour for instance coming up to a junction. If I brake hard there is no knocking. My local garage fitted new discs and pads around 2,000 miles ago and has said the brakes are fine to use but is at a loss to see what the problem might be.

  Does anyone have any advice on how to prevent the brake bleed screw on brake calipers from seizing ? Would the use of PTFE tape (plumbers tape) on the threads help or coating the threads with red brake grease? Any tips would be helpful. Many Thanks Brian Barker

  I have just changed all brake pads on the car but have found that the parking brake is now lose and not holding the car when parked on an incline. Can the parking brake be tightened and if so how can it be done ?

  Had brake pads and discs replaced 3 months ago due to brake judder it failed MOT, it seems to have started to come back checked front brakes anybody know what thickness new discs should be? only the discs appear quite worn also the pad housing is scraping against the face of disc.
