  Hi, I have a Peugeot 307 2lt Hdi XSI, before christmas I got a de-pollution system faulty fault pop up.. I had the DPF taken off and cleaned and all faults reset and about a month later the fault came back.. I was advised to take the car for a long blast and to get some Forte DPF additive to try help resolve the issues.. for 3-4 months now the fault has been coming and going, going into limp mode a couple of times, each time getting the faults reset..

  Hi I have got a 2011 vauxhall insignia cdti (a20dth) engine , when I bought it the sign on dash came up with diesel particulate filter full carry on driving and service vehicle soon , so I thought I could drive it home and like they say drive it like you stole it to clear dpf but it didn't work so I took it to garage for forced regen , he phoned me and said that it had diesel runaway and they checked oil and was about 10 litres of oil and diesel in sump , so he said he didn't want to do it , so I picked it up and it was only running on 3 cylinder and smoking like mad but drove it about 3 mile down road and smoke cleared , thought I would do compression test and number3 cylinder no compression

  Hi Hope someone can help Bought a new Isuzu Dmax just over a year ago and having some problems. The oil level is rising. Doing some reading on this apparently it's something to do with the DPF cyle and the fact I do a lot of short runs. Can't change my work so need to go on damage limitation. Had the oil changed once between services as I did not like the idea of diesel swishing about in the oil but the level is rising quite quickly and still not got to it's first service at 12000 miles.

  Reading all the dire warnings about turning off a diesel whilst the DPF is regenerating causes me to wonder about the “intelligence” or otherwise of the Stop-Start system on my Toyota Verso (with the BMW derived 1.6 diesel engine). Since retirement I only drive 9,000-10,000 miles per year, but as 90% is on French autoroutes I don’t worry about the DPF.

  My understanding is this valve controls the flow of gasses/heat to ensure efficiency of exhaust system and the correct operation of particle filter/Catalyst and DPF. My problem is that my particle filter/catalyst is now full of soot, I think this could be related to the failure of valve previously mentioned. Nissan obviously think otherwise and states that this is wear and tare and they want to replace it at a cost of £500.

  Hi, The silencer has come off my Zafira, the pipe has split away at the join to the box, so as it looks I should only need to replace the Silencer unit, good news, nice and cheap(ish). My concern is the sensor within the central part of the exhaust system that houses the DPF etc and whether any will be effected, causing the centre section to need to be changed as well. Making the job then much more expensive.....! I'd like to get some suggestions if I can as I'll need to get the exhaust done at a convenience garage rather than my usual place so want to be well prepared for any possible attempts to suggest work that might not need doing!

  Hi was hoping for some advice, and opinions on my problem, I have loss of power, black smoke, the car with spanner light on after checking forums seemingly common fault with vauxhall combo 1.3 vans, no one seems to have the answer map/maf sensor, turbo, ecu/egr all syptoms I think of DPF not doing what it should. I was wondering what you thought and if you think it's worth getting the dpf removed? Van went down hill fast now very bad I'm thinking it maybe to late for me and not salvageable even if I remove dpf, should I give it a go or cut my losses?

  My mother in law purchased a 1.7 diesel astra brand new in January 2011.  The DPF warning light came on last week and she followed the instructions in the manual to give it a run. This did not improve matters and a further warning light came on to inform her to contact a dealer.

  My car has a DPF, and in light of the many stories of problems with these filters, I wonder if other forum members have any advice or tips. Most mileage on my car is done on motorways in rush hour traffic, at 60-75 mph indicated, which relates to about 1750-2300rpm in top gear.

  Apart from the liquid needed for some earlier filters on PSA cars (FAP filter needing Eolys).... nothing more than diesel needed. If the temperature is high enough it burns off the DPF filter. If not more DIESEL is added so it burns it he exhaust to burn off the particulate matter on the DPF. This is verging on technical so may be moved there if that is how the thread goes.
