Need a seven seat 4x4

I'm trying to help my sister-in-law buy a car, but need your help please.

She wants an automatic 4WD with seven seats. Of the choices available the majority are diesels with DPFs and as the vehicle will be used mainly for short trips, school run, shops etc.

I don't think they're suitable, the remainder are large gas guzzling petrol engines which are expensive to run. Any advice/suggestions would be much appreciated.

No choice apart from diesels so she will either have to take the vehicle on longer runs to regenerate the DPF or suffer the consequences. Hyundai Santa Fe, KIA Sorento best bets.
