Windscreen Smears 10 Feb 2006 (Forum)
Whats the best way of making your windscreen smear-free ? I understand that a lot of the smears are due to tiny quantities of unburnt diesel fuel mixed in with the turbulent air on motorways, so how is this best dealt with. -

Nissan Qashqai - Diesel: Still worth buying w/ new emissions focus? 3 Feb 2015 (Forum)
Hey there, First time poster - please be kind! Looking to buy a new car (Qashqai). Currently thinking the 1.5 diesel engine over the 1.2 petrol. Hopefully better for longer distance, fuel economy, better resale value etc. My worry - with a growing focus on the particulate emissions of diesel, if I'm buying a car for the next 8 years or so, is it likely this will be a bad investment - should I opt for the 1.2l instead? -
Petrol or Diesel? 26 Mar 2008 (Forum)
There may have been discussions on this before, but I can't find them. With the growing differential between petrol and diesel, is there any trusted formula that can decide which fuel (and running costs) will be cheaper in the long run? In my area, it is currently 8p a litre in favour of petrol. I was beginning to think about changing from petrol to diesel, but would like more hard information to make a decision. -
Diesel Engines and CC 10 Feb 2006 (Forum)
Of course, I would just never entertain buying a 3.0l petrol car on the grounds of silly fuel economy, but wondered if being diesel made this a more sensible prospect? Cheers. TT -- Top Turkey - the fastest hands in Brum -
Diesel LPG Conversions 12 Oct 2002 (Forum)
The rest of the system is very similar to a petrol installation. Performance was impressive, being able to switch between LPG and diesel on the move - the performance increase when running on LPG was immediatley apparrent. Noise was no different, if a little quieter. The diesel fuelling is apparently dialled back and LPG is fed in, resulting in a real dual-fuel vehicle with a terrific range. -

Any - Less cars 3 Apr 2012 (Forum)
Is it my imagination or are there really less cars on the road now. I think my area has less traffic due to people cutting back mileage due to fuel prices...diesel past £1.50 a litre here and I guess most other places too. My MP has has replied that the Government is doing a good job on keeping prices down....... Aviation fuel is now taxed adding considerable cost to flights, rail fares are high too. -

Hard to start without priming - Fiesta. 12 May 2004 (Forum)
Fiesta 1.8 LX diesel. I just changed the hand fuel pump, primer pump. The car is quite hard to start after an overnight wait unless i prime the pump a few times then start no problem. Its like low fuel pressure which would indicate a leak somewhere but the bolts were all tighened properly all seals were oiled and added so i cant see where the problem might be ? -

MK5 VW Golf 1.9 Diesel - Cranking but not starting 12 Jul 2019 (Forum)
This is what I’ve tried so far. I’ve had it plugged in to the computer and nothing comes up. I’ve changed the fuel pump relay. I’ve changed all 4 glow plugs. Had a new coolant temperature sensor on it. Serviced with new fuel filter. I’ve put some diesel cleaner additives through a full tank. Has anyone had anything the same? -
Kia Sedona diesel 2.9 TS - Sedona cutting out at high revs 21 Jul 2017 (Forum)
Fuel filter has been changed, it's had a good service, the only other code is for one of the heating coils which is being done next week, but the mechanic assures me this isn't the problem. Any ideas? -
Citroen ZX (1992 - 1998) - 1994 1.9 Diesel losing power 2 Aug 2008 (Forum)
I wonder if some-one could help me. I am a disabled person with a Citroen ZX diesel when I was coming home from a long trip the other day my car started losing power on the motorway. LIke spluttering. The fuel tank was at 3/4 full and no other apparent problems. A friend of mine suggested that I should get the Fuel filter and the Cam belt changed so I went ahead with his advise but after spending £160 on it the problem is still there infact it seems to be worse. -
Renault Clio - Fuel gauge incorrect 28 Aug 2022 (Forum)
I filled up my diesel car on Thursday and I did keep adding more when it was tripping the stop signal a couple of times. Got in the car and the fuel gauge had not moved to full, it was 80% full before filling up., So something is wrong. -
Why the difference between Diesel and petrol 7 Nov 2018 (Forum)
Up in the north west of the UK, We often get the cheapest prices of fuel on the forecourt and over the last couple of years, the difference between diesel and unleaded has been 2p give or take a little, Now diesel is almost 10p higher than petrol. Can anyone explain why the big difference . -
Diesel - is it worth it anymore? 27 Mar 2008 (Forum)
The other day I filled the 93 up at a Shell garage and the difference on a litre between diesel and unleaded was 8p!!! On a full tank fill of more than 50 litres that's 4 or 5 quid. Since the car only does 43 to the gallon I'm thinking my days with diesel could be coming to an end as I could easily find a petrol car (admittedly probably a smaller one but that's not a problem) that'll do 40ish to the gallon and I'm saving on fuel costs.
