  Hi, Is there a 'real' reason why HT leads for the Omega should cost so much (As you may know they are manufactured in 2 sets of 3 leads, each set costing £75, ex VAT, thereby incurring a total cost of £176.25 incl VAT to replace the 6 leads).

  My HT leads are connected to the spark plug connecter via a screw in the plug cal and a nut in the HT lead. I cannot find a supplier in the UK. Can you help?

  No spark at No. 4 lead from coil pack, when I lift off the plug lead at the coil pack end. Swapped plug lead 4 with 1, runs even more rough, (i dont have a spare lead to go to No. 1.) Put spare plug into No. 4 lead and held spare plug onto block, no spark (This sparked OK on No. 1 plug lead end).

  Anyone know if a 1989 Pug 1.6 GTI runs on leaded or un-leaded. Read conflicting reports saying some do and some don't. Which is it ????

  Hi All I have a Mk 2 VW Golf 1300 81,000 miles. The spark plug (HT) Leads are the original set. Is there a set time to replace spark plug (HT) Leads? Do new leads increase engine efficiency? The engine sounds fine, i.e. the ignition timing is alright. Thanks

  Has anybody experienced exploding plug leads and resulting small engine fire which I had on my Audi Coupe- luckily at slow speed and blown out! This serves as a warning to renew leads of unknown age?

  So bear with my simple question. Does the old HT lead pull off the dis unit and is the new lead a push fit and just pushed on similarily to the lead being pushed on to the spark plug . I plan to take off the scuttle will this let me see the dis unit.

  A well-know high street motorists' store is advertising in their winter advertising leaflet a lead with a cigar lighter plug on each end which is supposed to be used instead of jump leads to start a car with a flat battery from the cigar lighter socket in each car. Compared to jump leads this device hardly looks man enough for the job when one considers the power needed to turn over an engine.

  Just changed the plugs in my Mondeo (2000W), and want to check the HT leads are ok as the car has now covered 103k miles. Is it possible to do this by measuring their resistance with a common multi-meter? If so, what value should a lead not exceed if it is in good condition?

  Removed lead 3 and put in in place of lead 4, leaving cylinder 3 with no lead. Car starts and idles OK on 3 again, so lead 3 is OK. Swapped plugs 3 and 4, and tried again as above - only will run with 3 disconnected, but proved that plug 3 is OK.

  Please does anyone know whether the HT leads can be simply unscrewed from the coils on this bike. The old ones have been cut off halfway to the plug cap, so an extension will be needed if the original leads cannot be disconnected from the coils.

  A friend of mine runs the same car as me 1996 VW Golf VR6 and has recently fitted new plug leads. He tells me that the car runs much better with improved throttle response and power as a result. The leads on the car are original VW leads and are marked as having a resistance of 5 K ohms. I have tested mine with a meter and they all give a reading of between of 6 and 6.3 K ohms.

  I hear that shortly, lead weights will not be allowed for balancing wheels (obviously only when changing tyres). Is this true? If so it is nice to know that the European parliament is so concerned for our health.
