Lightweight Porsche makes £830,300 at Festival of Speed sale 5 Jul 2017 (News)
A rare 1973 Porsche 911 RS Lightweight sold for an astonishing £830,300 auction. The car was the big seller at Bonhams Festival of Speed sale, which was held at Goodwood on Friday, 30 June. German marques did well across the sale, with a 1962 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Roadster being hammered away for £897,500. -

Fast Fords have seen a rise in values over the last 12 months, so it was no surprise when a 1973 Ford Capri RS 3100, perhaps the best example in the world, sold for £49,500 - £10,000 over its lower estimate. Another car that was in world-class condition was a 1971 Volvo P1800E. The UK right-hand drive car had just two owners from new and had also been treated to a full restoration. It sold for £34,875. As you’d expect at The Restoration Show Sale, there were also a selection of barn finds and projects. -

Barn-finds and restorations top a million for Silverstone 14 Apr 2014 (News)
It was a very good showing for the first Restoration Show at the NEC in Birmingham, and proof that event auctions are gaining even more momentum. A number of fascinating cars were sold including a 1958 Jaguar XK150 Drophead Coupe, which was described as a true barn find. It was discovered in Sicily a short while before the sale, and was repatriated back to the UK. The car sold for a premium inclusive total of £62,100, more than double its lower estimate, and a very good price for an otherwise healthy example.
