    The suspension was rebuilt with new bushes while the brakes and fuel system were also renewed. The engine and gearbox also received some TLC. All the police features were restored and work: radio (which cannot be used for legal reasons so is not wired up), stop signs, sirens and blue lights were restored and work.

    Standard equipment includes, electric sunroof, electric windows front and rear, electric door mirrors, central locking, remote boot and fuel filler flap release as well as alloy wheels (that do look like wheeltrims). It's been recently serviced, with new cam belt, rear brake shoes and wheel cylinders, radiator, thermostat and housing, exhaust centre silencer, track rod ends and front tyres.

    It was then sold to Swedish privateer Joakim Bonnier ‘R8’ retired from the 1969 German GP due to a fuel leak. For 1970 the car was sold again to Dave Charlton who used it to clinch the first two of his six consecutive South African Formula 1 Championship titles, 1970-75. Lotus 49 ‘R8’ won nine qualifying rounds in Dave Charlton’s 1970 campaign, and four more in 1971.
  • CMC unveils long(ish)-wheelbase Jaguar E-type 12 Nov 2013 (News)
    Along with the stretch, the roof line has been raised by 1.25 inches above the driver's head and the boot floor lowered and reshaped to build in a 20 gallon fuel tank.  The car has also been built with a host of CMC’s upgrades that range from air conditioning to power steering, upgraded brakes, five-speed gearbox, suspension and handling upgrades.

Several cars have reported mysterious fuel issues, including the Delage of Jan de Clerck from Belgium, and the oldest car in the event, the Bentley from Australia of David Browning (above), and the 1913 Model T Ford (below) of Nicky Bailey and Nadja Saralam was delayed when an oil cap vibrated loose, and rolled across the top of the engine, clouting the fan, which broke one of the four fan-blades.

    Last season the Mazda MX-5 GT demonstrated its strengths in endurance racing, while it is not as powerful as rivals it uses less fuel and is easier on tyres.  This translates to less time in the pits and more time on the track which is a winning formula. The British GT Championship is nine rounds over seven weekends.  The first race is at Oulton Park in Cheshire on Easter weekend, 7 and 9 April.

    Additionally, if the driver or passenger doesn’t fasten their seatbelt then a warning will play and eventually the stereo will mute. A low fuel warning can be manually set, too, so a chime will play when there’s a quarter tank rather than when it’s about to run dry. Besides these restrictions, the car is pretty much normal.

    The Alto SZ2 is well equipped as standard with four airbags, electric front windows and remote central locking plus all Alto models have a claimed average fuel consumption of 64.2mpg and emissions of 103g/km meaning they qualify for an Annual VED charge of just £20. Low rate PCP’s are also available on Alto models and, taking SZ2 at £6,495 as an example, can be driven away after a deposit of just £695.

  • Free Rides to London on 4th January in Congestion Charge Exempt Volvos 24 Dec 2010 (News)
      The introduction of the new Greener Vehicle Discount follows a successful 18-month campaign led by Volvo Car UK, which called for a review of the previous Alternative Fuel Discount of the congestion zone charging by London Mayor Boris Johnson.  Volvo's 'DRIVe for free' campaign will provide a chauffeur-driven service for people attending appointments and meetings in the Congestion Charge zone on the 4th January in a Volvo C30 sportscoupe, S40 saloon or V50 sportswagon.
