• Volvo S70/V70 (1996 - 2000) - 98 V70 T5 erratic idle and stall fault a mystery 10 Mar 2008 (Forum)
  I really need some advice or help here. The car is an S-Reg Volvo V70 T5 and when the engine is switched on it idles at between 2,000 rpm and 3,500 rpm. It is consistently revving up and down between the rpm I just mentioned. When I put my foot on the accelerator so as to drive it, it just stalls.

  Our company buys our cars outright so no leasing deals to consider, just the value of my car set against the cost of a new one. It is a 2005 / 05 plate Volvo S60 S D5. No extras other than the metalic Magic Blue paint. 81,000 miles on the clock, very good condition and a full service history. Many thanks for your help folks.

  It really looked the part and although it was difficult to get a full appreciation of its performance (the 13-mile test-drive route almost exclusively used 40-50mph inner-city camera-laden sprawl) I would say that Volvo are almost certainly onto a winner here. Only 5,000 destined for the UK market in 2007(?)so a certain amount of exclusivity guaranteed too. Add a bit of leather inside the cockpit and I think I could be tempted?

  I have been offered a V70 on a 51 plate but its a 2.4 petrol the 130 bhp model and an automatic . I really like the look and drive of the Volvo but how worse off will i be financially . In recent times diesel is slightly more expensive that petrol plus diesel servicing is a lot shorter than the petrol . I was thinking in the not to distant future to maybe do a lpg conversion on the Volvo .

  First of all thank you to Cliff Pope for his advice on removing roof-lining on a previous thread. It was a lot easier than I had thought. My problem is that the 8 amp fuse on my 1992 Volvo 240 Brakelight keeps fusing. This happens even when the car is switched off and the keys are not in the ignition: I put a new 8 amp fuse in, press the brake pedal, and watch the fuse glowing away for a second or two then it blows out!
