  I know its supposed to be 50Mpg. Pls advice on how do I get it back to 50 Mpg. There is no diesel leak and the car drived nicely.However diesel consumption seem to be heavy. Im on 130k Miles. Pls advice . Thanks

  I had a test drive in a 2.2 HDI 173 in an 07 reg C5 and thought the engine was a gem and a likely candidate to replace my present car. Does this engine have the problems of corroded injectors like the earlier 2.2 HDI?

  If the car is stood still the temp gauge goes up as normal, doesn't over heat but only a small amount of heat comes out of the heaters. If you start driving then the gauge goes down to nothing and cold air comes through the heaters. Any ideas?

  I thought they might disappear in time, but there is no sign of the seat returning to 'normal'. Any tips? I'm pretty obsessive about looking after my car and they're driving me mad. ('Er indoors can't understand what I'm moaning about...they just don't understand the male mind!)

  Or is it just me? I see my neighbours looking at me as if I'm mad, but I've done this ever since I had a driving licence. Beats standing there with a scraper, or spraying toxic chemicals all over the place. There seems to be an urban myth that the screen will shatter, and perhaps it would with boiling water, but I find that even tepid water will do the trick.

  I need to change the address on my driving licence. The Photocard expires in less than a year so I thought it might be worth updating the photo at the same time. On the DVLA website it says 'you can update the photo at any time'. If I update the photo now will they add 10 years on from the expiry date, will it run from when I update the photo, or will it still expire on the original date?

  hi there, not long been driving and i am a girl so know nowt about cars....i have a strange ear piercing squeeeeling coming from my car. Though it doesnt do it when accelerating, or braking but when cruising along the car is squeeling like mad......what is causing this????

  The problem occurs in a straight line with the car wandering without moving the steering wheel. It is worse at higher speeds and when driving in darkness when the lane markings & road edges are less visible for reference. I find myself continually making slight corrections to the steering to keep the car on track.

  Hi, igot a 2.0 tddi 02 plate mondeo 160k on the clock, runs fine doesen't use a drop of oil but on start up when cold smokes like hell for a couple of mins, been told this seems more than EGR valve although not checked that, any other ideas, car drives perfect otherwise, thanks colin.

  It is a diesel, It is struggling to get up slopes and hills, of which there are many in Gloucestershire.. on the flat it is struggling to find acceleration.... engine sounds fine, recently had new drive belt, although problems was occuring BEFORE that change. Any ideas? Is it bad news? or simple and cheap repair?

  for some reason the petrol pump turns off every few seconds when I try to fill up my jeep its is driving me crazy have I got a dud car, is it a bad design or does it happen to everybody it takes me 10 mins to fill up repressing the trigger at least a hundred times

  On this site, and this site only, my keyboard is very slow to respond to key strokes meaning that this post is taking me twice as long to type as it normally would. Not every key stroke is immediately recognised and it's driving me mad(der)! As always, any thoughts or advice would be most gratefully received. Cheers.

  Released by Communities and Local Government and Environment Agency called 'Guidance on the permeable surfacing of front gardens' sounds like they are trying to blame the householder for all the flooding! because we have carelessly and thoughtlessly hard - surfaced our drives and thier sewers and drains cant cope.   The noise seems to be coming from the gearbox end, and from reading other forums I think it's the DMF. Is this an urgent problem or is it safe to drive until the symptoms get worse? Many thanks, Richard

  Thought it was time to build the perfect car using parts from any and all. This started when i was driving home yesterday in rain that varied between monsoon and intermittent, and my wipers adjustment was simply not up to the job. So my first perfect part are the adjustable wipers from an MG Maestro, 10 seperate settings for intermittent and a top speed that was faster and smoother than the car.

  I've always been fascinated by the idea of a kit car, though the likelyhood of me ever starting a project is as remote as it gets, time and facilities sadly lacking. Has anyone got any experience of them, either building, servicing or driving? I would like to know whether these supercar lookalikes that are built for the price of a hatchback are really as good as they look, or if they are mainly rattley old buckets of nails driven round by proud owners who are seriously kidding themselves.

  Every warning light concerning Brakes ABS Tracction Control and a few others have come up on the dash and my mechanic can't get any code read, He has sophisticated code readers, could it be an ECU Failure, the car drives fine but cant get it through an mot because of the ABS lights on, Most Gratefull For Any Help

  Hi all just a newbie here with a few questions. I have 8 points due to careless driving and had a 28 day ban. now obvioulsy i have to declare the 8 points for insurance but what about the 28 day ban can i mention it or keep it quiet? anyone know if i can get rid of points before there 3 years are up as been made redundant and everywhere requires clean licences cheers all
