Ford Focus (1998 - 2004) - 1999 1.8 overheating problem? 1 Jan 2014 (Forum)
There are seemingly many causes of overheating and so far I've been lead towards the following : faulty CHT sensor, faulty thermostat and the blue Ford coolant which has never been renewed, so could do with being replaced. The fact that the temperature gauge can go into the red and then (once you ease of) back again so quickly leads me to suspect a faulty CHT sensor. -

1.4 cvh 55kw 1998 - Ford escort overcooling 12 Jan 2025 (Forum)
I have read about the cvh thermostat housing and it has some kind of plastic ball inside that melts when engine overheats which i think is my problem because last year my engine overheated because of faulty fan when it overheated i replaced the coolant tempeature sensor and the thermostat thinking it would help but it didnt since then i have no heat :( . Now that i know the ball inside is melted i know that coolant is bypassing the thermostat going straight into the radiator. -
Nissan Pathfinder - Nissan Pathfinder Head Gasket Gone Again... 16 Jun 2018 (Forum)
I did note that the area around the expansion tank was damp (the weather on the day was bright sunshine and high temperatures) and there was a pool of coolant below the expansion tank. I pulled over and called the green flag man to get me home. The vehicle starts fine and sounds normal. The only thing I noted was that having topped up the radiator with some water, after 10 minutes of running at 1500rpm and with the temps Normal, the expansion tank was almost full, on inspecting, there was at least some of the original fluid in there (the coolant was bright orange). -

Where do I stand legall 14 Jun 2012 (Forum)
I had a coolant leak and the coolant exchange was replaced, this lasted for 6 months and needed replacing again, the garage did this under the parts warranty but since they have replaced this part I have had to take the car back to the garage about 4 times because the overheating warninglights keep coming on, and the heating failed only blowing out cold air. -
Vauxhall Zafira A - fan and AC continuously running HELP 21 May 2012 (Forum)
I have a problem with my Vauxhall Zafira comfort ( 2002 1.8) , although the car is running fine / hasnt broken down , I keep getting engine management light ( car with spanner) also when the engine is running the coolant yellow line is on as well as the coolant fan continuousily running . When I took the car to the mechanic he did a full service still no change with the lights , so he then changed the temperature sensor switch after that for around 10miles of driving the car behaved ok , the fan only came on when needed, however, its gone back to running continuously , I am also told that the A/C is also running . -
MERCEDES W211 AUTOMATIC - MERCEDES E320CDI W211 GEARBOX OIL GET DIRTY IN 20K 8 Dec 2011 (Forum)
It recently developed a slight judder when mild accelerating. I've read lots of information online about coolant in ATF prolem. Hence, I had the car for a Glycol test at local gearbox specialist last week. The result is good and they found no coolant in the gearbox. They noticed that the fluid level was slight low and fluid was quit dirty and recommended a fluid&filter change. -
KIA Sedona 2.9CRDi 2004 - My MPV has started overheating and juddering 28 Sep 2011 (Forum)
So the coolant top up hasn't resolved it. What could it be? -
Hyundai Getz - Any Engine management experts out there? 15 Dec 2010 (Forum)
After a few minutes idling the coolant was reading 77C and the intake air 22C. It would appear the temp sensors are ok but the lambda reads low when cold. Apparently the ECU's run open loop when cold so in theory the lambda sensor is ignored. -
Ford KA - Radweld on Ford KA 53 plate 30 Nov 2010 (Forum)
Hi, Would appreciate a little help - this will be a familiar story for you lot but looks like I'm leaking coolant/anti-freeze. It seems that I can go 50 miles or 200 miles and notice about the same amount of leakage (from max to quarter full) - it's never gone below that but I guess that's because I don't let it. -
01 Vauxhall Corsa 1.2 petrol Engine cutting out. 21 Feb 2010 (Forum)
I said I would have a nosey this evening to see if anything obvious (and to have a pint with him!) but wondered if you could give any points to a failed HG (exhaust steam, funny coloured coolant and maybe sniff?? the coolant) He called again to say has just used the car to pick her up from work and whilst not cutting out in that trip it felt sluggish and described a missfire type problem so I've no idea what is going on. -
Ford Fiesta (1995 - 1999) - 97 1.25 Heater only hot when driving 8 Feb 2010 (Forum)
On Tuesday I noticed my heaters where only blowing cold air then half way home (driven about 5 miles) the temp gauge hit red. Had a look under the bonnet and the coolant was boiling away but not coming out. AA came out 2 hours later and car had cooled down, he followed me home and all was fine. He said the thermostat could have failed to open and get it replaced. -
Daewoo Nubira (1997 - 2003) - 98 1.6 Location of coolant temp sensor on 1.6 24 Sep 2008 (Forum)
The Daewoo is showing the classic symptoms of knackered temp sensor -- runs fine when warm, but jumpy when cold. Nudge the gas pedal, and the revs dip... -
Peugeot 306 (1993 - 2001) - County Court [Small Claims] dilema. 8 Mar 2008 (Forum)
Following an abortive installation of a radiator to my 1997 Peugeot 306 D-Turbo [one owner from new] resulting in the bottom hose becoming detached from the radiator, with subsequent loss of coolant [no overheating at this point, stopped immediatly low coolant warning light appeared ] I summoned my recovery/breakdown service, whose operative securely refixed the bottom hose, but failed to bleed the system, resulting in an an 'emergency' stop a few miles down the road, with engine warning 'stop' light illuminated, and engine fan operating. -
Ford StreetKa (2003 - ) - Overheating warning and erratic fuel gauge 5 Oct 2007 (Forum)
Certainly, there are no signs as mentioned earlier. The car has done 35,000 miles, and has the original coolant in it at the right concentration and the right level in the tank. My best guess is a good old fashioned earthing fault, but with the unusual places electronics are employed in new cars, who knows? -
BMW 316i - customer options. 18 Apr 2007 (Forum)
So happy with it i paid a deposit and collected the car the follwing day. After 2 weeks of driving the coolant light came on followed by the oil light which were leaking I have been keeping the car topped up with coolant and oil until i could have it checked yesterday. The garage has just told me the head gasket has broken, water pump is leaking, radiator is leaking, and various asscoiated works are required costing £1200 inc labour and VAT. -

Hot and bothered 5 Jun 2003 (Forum)
Before any suggestions are put forward, here's what I've already tried: New thermostat, new temperature sensor (it's definitely overheating - not electrical), new radiator cap, new radiator, new coolant, new water pump, back flushed engine (no blockages) and bled system for air locks. It's not losing any coolant and there's no water in the oil, or oil in the water. Any thoughts?
