  Once tyres are set to correct pressure and tyre monitor is activated is there any need to regularly check pressure with a tyre gauge?

  ive been trying to find out what were the original tyre sizes and brand that were fitted front and rear by BMW when the car was made but even by contacting BMW I haven’t been able to get this info! ive spoken to National tyres and another local fitter as well as putting my reg in to quite a few different websites and they all seem to have conflicting information regarding the profile size & speed rating leaving me confused!!

  My thoughts are as follows: Bmw - the car my heart wants more with better quality interior and driving experience but my concerns are the possibly underpowered engine, boot space and possible running costs as I’ve never owned a bmw before and this does worry me.

  The Focus returns anything between 45 and just over 50mpg depending on the exact mix for that tank full. Obviously I will get to test drive the BMW (and others) for a couple of days but any comments on how much difference I will notice in the reduction in torque between the Diesel Focus and Petrol BMW? Anything else I have missed?

  I bought a BMW 318i ES 2004 reg from a private seller back in Feb this year- the car was advertised on Auto Trader and eBay indicating a mileage of 64K (whereas the actual as confirmed from a BMW garage later on turned out to be 111K).

  We've spoken to both BMW and Audi dealers and as you'd expect they all recommend their marque over the competition. I'm sure both cars would be excellent but my head says Audi but my heart says BMW. Our requirements are fairly straightforward - good/big boot space - good fuel economy - annual mileage circa. 8,000-12,000 miles - manual or automatic ( what's best?)

  The BMW service agent's solution (supposedly in communication with BMW) is for the hood to be replaced!!! all for plastic plates that would cost a few pence to manufacture. I would be delighted if there was a repairer who could fix this problem - it must have come up before.
