  • Ultra-fast electric car chargers to be installed at petrol stations 7 Jun 2019 (News)
    The latest generation of electric cars are capable of being charged quicker. The Jaguar i-Pace can take 100kW, while the Audi e-tron can handle 150kW. The upcoming Volkswagen ID.3 will be able to charge at a rate of up to 125kW. BP Chargemaster's ultra-fast chargers (dubbed the Ultracharge 150) will be able to moderate the speed of charging to suit the vehicle - so cars unable of handling 150kW will be able to be charged at their maximum rate.

    The Ka+ was marked down due to a lack of rear seatbelt pretensioners and load-limiters, which are now standard on the majority of new cars along with a lack of chest protection. In the other results, the new Land Rover Discovery, Audi Q5 and the Toyota CH-R all gained the maximum five star rating for safety. The CH-R was one of the best performers with an impressive 95 per cent adult occupant safety rating while the Q5 was given an 86 per cent child safety rating - the highest rating achieved to date.
  • Racing legend Tom Kristensen to appear at Race Retro 17 Jan 2017 (News)
    .’ Kristensen won Le Mans at his first attempt in 1997 and holds the record for the most wins at the 24hr of Le Mans, with nine victories to his name, six of which were consecutive years. One of the stars of Audi’s near-monopoly of La Sarthe, he helped revolutionise endurance racing with the advent of diesel and hybrid technology in sports cars. He also raced for Porsche, Bentley and BMW in France. As well as his wins at Le Mans, Kristensen also has six victories at Sebring, one at Petit Le Mans, and won the FIA World Championship (WEC), making him the most successful sports car driver of his era.

    The 2000 Honda Accord in which Le Mans legend Tom Kristensen won the last BTCC race held to Super Touring rules, the Ford Mondeo in which Rickard Rydell won three times the same season, and Jo Winkelhock’s 1994 BMW 318i are also confirmed. So are an ex-works Audi A4 Quattro like the one in which Frank Biela won the 1996 title, one of the Volvo S40s used by Rydell in his title-winning campaign of ’98 and David Leslie’s Nissan Primera, in which the Scot finished second in the championship the following season.
