• vauxhall vectra 1.8 sri 120 - abs not working properly 26 Mar 2012 (Forum)
  hi guys, my vectra has an abs fault, when i start the car and set off there is a noise comimg from the abs pump, after driving a short while the yellow warning light comes on.   during the mot a broken abs sensor on n/s/f was detected i changed this but the problem is still there. can anyone help please.

  I test drove a 2.2 diesel (200PS)  S-Max today.  6 months old, 2000 miles. At the end of a 10 minute drive the fan stayed on for at least 5 minutes and there was an "enginey" smell. The salesman assured me the fan staying on was normal and the smell was due to the way the engine had been cleaned. Does anyone have any views as to whether I should be concerned please?

  Hi my grandaughter has a punto x reg 1.9d at low speeds /revs its missing quite badly (i know there's no spark plugs) but it the easy way of explaining whats happening it idles ok runs well on the motorway at 40+ but around town its very poor to drive unless you drop down gear and keep the revs high any advice would be appreciated

  Can a dealer fix dashboard rattles without creating new ones? Do they really annoy you and ruin driving pleasure? Which manufacturers are best for building rattle free cars? Will be interesting to hear your answers!

  Is it just me or are there hundreds of cars driving around with one headlight working.It's frightening if motorists won't even keep their cars legal and roadworthy by changing a bulb, what else are they not doing, tyres, wiperblades, rear lights, etc.
• Audi A4 B6 (2001 - 2005) - Clutch judder 31 Dec 2011 (Forum)
  I have a fairly new A4 and suffer from clutch judder on initial pull-away after the car has been standing overnight. The problem seems to go away after I have pulled away about twice or have been driving for a couple of miles. My father who has a newish Passat has the same issue. Is this a characteristic of these cars and what could be causing this ?

  Also, any downside to the version with higher output (240hp) over standard tune (203hp)? e.g is it much thirstier under normal driving condiitons?

  Good evening my lovely old Toyota has started to make a ticking noise when driving straight and accelerating hard, in 3/4/5th gears. The sound comes from around the passenger well, its not the cv's, possibly gearbox. I use the van for towing a caravan. Any suggestions or possible cures please.

  i too have joined an exclusive club this week,fault code 01435 and g201 the car is going into vw on wed for full test to be done,can anyone tell me if it is danderous to continue driving with this faul with the esp and braking system,pritty hacked of here as vw seem to be aware about his prob for a very long time.

  The milage reading shows when first switched on but on starting the engine it goes of  and the speedo does not work when driving. The seat belt warning also fails at the same time. Any ideas ? (short of just relying on my satnav !) Mike
• 2001 ford focus estate 1600 - green oil leak? 16 Nov 2011 (Forum)
  While working underneath found green oil coated to bottom of engine under drive belt area.Cant find signs of any leaks. Also there are no oils or fluids that are green in the car.All fluid levels are normal. Air conditioner works ok. Cant find any leaks on that - only item I thought may have green fluid in.
• Toyota Corolla - Unusual breakdown 6 Nov 2011 (Forum)
  Walking to the paper shop this morning I saw an AA van by a Corolla - not a common sight, Toyotas being generally reliable.    It seems the lady driving it had just borrowed it and succeeded in filling this petrol car with diesel.  The AA guy who was pumping the fuel out said she'd managed to get the large diesel nozzle far enough in to fill without spilling, quite an achievement, probably not appreciated by whoever she'd borrowed it from.

  Tonight she drove 2 miles from home and the engine cut out and refused to restart ,after half an hour the car restarted and she made it home only for the car to cut out on the drive once again it restarted after half an hour.Any suggestions welcome.

  When driving to work this week ive had the heater just on warm to take the chill off. But the heater just gets hotter, even if i turn it right down to cold, Dont know if this is connected but i had a cd player in the car witch would spit the cd out then take it back a few times , then go up through the presets on it's own.

    Now, the fans on the radiator dont seem to kick in and the temp gauge goes to mid way after about 3 minutes of normal driving and stays there.  The needle seems to move quickly straight to mid way and dont think this is right?   Any ideas please?

  The guy who lives there works in haulage - yelled at him a couple of months ago for parking a 10-ton tractor unit on the drive, but that's another story. Anyways, he has a car that's seemingly taxed, but he always puts trade plates on it. Illegal, surely...??? Mr Pickles

  Hi, I have a 55 plate Mazda 3, whilst driving today the Slip Indicator warning light just came on.  I always associated this with adverse road conditions which cause traction to be lost.  I recall seeing this during the snowy periods early this year.
• ford mondeo mk4 1.8 tdci - auxillary belt snapped 30 Jun 2011 (Forum)
  whilst driving on motorway my car came to a halt,after calling AA out they told me my cambelt had snapped, I believe this car as a cam chain and a belt aswell, my local gaarge cant look at it for a couple of days,has anyone got any ideas as the possible damage and cost this will be, the belt was changed 50k ago, thanks

  When started from cold in the morning this vehicle starts first turn of key for the first 6 or 7 minutes of driving vehicle emittes a lot of black smoke and appears to hold back. Once it reaches running tempature smoke clears and vehicle drives100% all day long, No mil light on and no fault codes   Anyone encountered this problem before Regards Mickeybo

  Always fancied driving one of these if only for day or so.  I googled a place in Dorset where you can hire one for £185 a day.   Anyone know of a company closer to London? Presume it's a non synchromesh 'crash' gearbox?
