  • Heathrow T5 high tech carpark - the future ? 4 Dec 2007 (Forum)
VMS minimises queuing and congestion by delivering electronic messages in the form of arrows to direct customers around the car park. In addition, Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) will be used to ensure a swift and efficient entry/exit to the car parks for those customers who have pre-booked. On their return to the Short Stay car park, an additional feature has been designed to assist customers in locating their vehicles. ?
  • Preparing bike for French Trip 11 Jun 2007 (Forum)
(daren't leave the one on there, which is well legal, cos last time i did that i came back with a Dunlop Kojak, praying it wouldn't rain on the journey) then there was the kit check.......took over half an hour to find the insurance as it was filed elsewhere than somewhere i would have filed it, rang them only to find i didn't need to, was already automatically covered.....AA cost 24 quid for 3 days, which seemed a bit steep, but maybe i'm not keeping up with the times. which just left the leathers...and therein lay the big problem.........increasing girth versus bike leathers bought over 3 years ago......my opinion is they'll do.....when SWMBO stopped laughing, she reluctantly agreed they'd do......but i suspect the prosepct of me splashing out 200 readies for a new set is part of her thought process stressed is not the word........hope i calm down enough to enjoy the trip
  • Zafira and faulty petrol 31 Mar 2007 (Forum)
Incidentally, once the car is running warm it does seem to be running not too badly apart from the drinking of petrol and the emissions light on. My car is a 2001 1.8 automatic Zafira with 69k on the clock. Oh, and should anyone have changed the petrol, diluted though it is now. Thanks!!! Julie :-)
  • Parking tickets bring a smile... 6 Dec 2006 (Forum)
It really did, because attached to the ticket was a second piece of paper saying you could pay your parking offence by a donation of toys. And automatically that kind of made me feel good," Ramsden said. "I think all of us want to do something good, but we just need a little nudge and for me it was the nudge," he said, adding he immediately went out and bought $55 worth of toys and dropped them off at town hall.
  • New golf has arrived - first questions! 5 Aug 2006 (Forum)
They don't seem to - do I have to switch them on at the first sign of rain and then leave them to sense how much wiping should be done? Automatic lights - They come on fine when there's a patch of shade or I drive into a carpark, but they seem to take ages to go off again. Is that normal? Haven't driven him in the dark yet so this is the only experience of the lights I have so far.
  • Help me choose my dad?s next car... 21 Mar 2006 (Forum)
An auto box is not a must-have, but it would certainly be a nice luxury, however many of the cars below are not available with automatic gearboxes. My Dad has been happily driving my sister's manual Punto on many occasions over the last months, after many auto-only years. (My mother's car is a 1995 Xantia auto). His budget is between £6000 and £7000.

  • Insurance saga drags on - please help. 1 Feb 2006 (Forum)
4)Finally, is it absolutely water-tight that I am in no way to blame? Is the "pulling onto a main road" rule like the "rear end shunt" rule? ie, automatically to blame and no excuses? I'm sorry this is such a long post. It's a long, shambolic saga! This is all causing so much distress, I feel sick every time a letter comes from my ins.co. I am drowning in it all, and would be very grateful if anyone could offer constructive suggestions.

  • Peugeot 206 hatchback (1998 - 2006) - 01 1.6 headgasket changed, but still have problems 29 Nov 2009 (Forum)
I'll try and keep this short, but please bear with me, it's a longish story! :) I bought the above car (automatic) in May after my beloved Yaris died. I paid about £1700 for it as it was all I could afford. I think I made a hasty purchase, but small, cheap automatics are like hens teeth, I'm self employed and my daughter is autistic and needs running around to a lot of appointments (plus I live in the sticks) so being without a car was a nightmare.
