  • Any - Wolf in sheep’s clothing 8 May 2020 (Forum)
Not massively powerful, but a fast comfy saloon . Discreetly flaired wheel arches , it could be a 200e , to the uninitiated. Left drive only , but who cares .
  • Holden closing down 20 Feb 2020 (Forum)
Holden was always a well loved Australian brand and had a fierce rivalry with Ford, more like the enthusiasm that people show for football teams.  It is going to be greatly missed.  It looks like GM is giving up on right hand drive cars totally.
  • 306 leaking boot 13 Jan 2020 (Forum)
Ive tried the obvious of sealing the weather strip with silicone but without success. I get the feeling its comming in when driving as aposed to just 'running in'. The water seems to pool at the very rear of the boot where the jack and wheel brace sit. Just wondered if there are any places I could seal check? Thanks all

Usually on the drivers side door jamb of most cars, there is a sticker showing the range of wheel sizes homologated to each model, so surely it would be worthwhile for OEM's to offer different wheel sizes, either as NCO's, or at an in lieu of price, to cater for the growing numbers of buyers who don't want to lose their fillings at the first twig they drive over?. What are your thoughts?.

  • Mercedes A180 CDI - Mercedes A180 CDI Alternator causing Transmission 1 Feb 2019 (Forum)
I have an A180 CDI Avantgarde 2005 (automatic). Have been driving it for 1 1/2 months without any problems. Last weekend I got the alternator error on the dashboard and drove it to the local garage. It appears now that the car won't move at all as there is a transmission problem.
  • n/a - Parking at work 24 Jan 2019 (Forum)
If you park outside of the employers premises and walk in how does that work?  I assume that if you drive a Rolls Royce then you don't have to work!
  • Seat Leon 2010 - Seat Leon - dashboard illumination dies 6 Oct 2018 (Forum)
Hi all, Intermittent problem with my dashboard - the lights for the speedo and rev counter randomly turn off while driving, although the trip display remains on. A picture is worth 1000 words...  https://ibb.co/k793de I intend to check the battery connections and reconnect them and cover with vaseline, and also check the fuses for a loose connection.
  • Ford focus 1.6 TDCi 2012 onwards - "plastic turbo" 26 Sep 2018 (Forum)
i've been looking at buying a ford focus 1.6 tdci on a 2012 plate, my mechanic has told me to avoid the diesel as it has a mainly plastic turbo that has a habit of shattering under hard driving and going on to wreck the engine, I do 12000+ motorway miles a year, can you tell me if anyone has heard this before
  • Marked x5 on bridge above me just pulled up 19 Sep 2018 (Forum)
I was driving down a dual carriage way around a bend doing maybe 80-85, when I saw above on a bridge a marked x5 that literally had just finished pulling up, I slowed down instantly, windows were all up etc, what’s the chance of them having a radar gun pointed at me?
  • Any - most awkward car to change a bulb on. 30 Apr 2018 (Forum)
There you are driving along and the bulb failure light comes on. Some cars are a doddle, old CLK rear bulbs were simple to do but the rear cluster on a V70 Volvo require several plasters on cuts to my hands after changing them.
  • SEAT Leon ST - engine and road noise 4 Apr 2018 (Forum)
I have a new Seat Leoon ST company car and it's decent to drive but one of the things that annoys me about it is the engine drone which becomes quite noticeable at motorway speeds. It's a 1.6 diesel engine. Is this common with cars these days? I'm wondering if SEat Leon's have always been like this or are they trying to save money and weight by reducing soundproofing?
  • Volvo V60 T3 - Vibration 23 Mar 2018 (Forum)
I don't know if it is my imagination but I am sure there is more vibration at 2500 revs than there was before It's high frequency low amplitude aand can be felt through the accelerator. It could be that I just now drive it harder than when I first got it and didn't notice it before. Has anyone any suggestions.

  • Pedestrian (minor) at fault 2 Nov 2017 (Forum)
If a young pedestrian walks in front of my car without looking, whilst I am driving perfectly legally and causes damage to my car, is there anything I can do? Pedestrian is ok but I'm left with a £1k insurance repair bill to sort, loss of no claims and big excess payment.
  • Honda Accord Tourer - what lightbulbs? 17 Oct 2017 (Forum)
I have been happy with the quantity and quality of light but so far three of them have failed.   I consider this to be premature and possibly a product of "driving" a standard design of bulb so hard for the sake of extra light. Does anyone have a recommendation for good quality but long-lasting halogen bulbs. H7 size?   Cheers   Chris
  • N/A - Insurer that covers use on airfields 22 Sep 2017 (Forum)
Anyone suggest an insurer that covers use on airfields? I'm retired and am considering volunteering at my local air museum. This entails driving onto the airfield past the hangars, but no airside activity. I can't find an insurer that will cover me for this and wonder how many people are uninsured when they visit the site for airshows.
  • Best car under £4k for young driver with no NCB? 13 Sep 2017 (Forum)
Hello everyone. A 22 year old work colleague of mine, has just started driving after four years of holding a licence - he's currently on his mum's insurance, but would like a car of his own. He has his heart set on a Subaru, but that's not going to happen, is it?!  Are there any options that look a little sportier, but still low insurance?
  • Ford Fiesta - Ecboost water reservoir bubbling 29 Aug 2017 (Forum)
I recently purchased a new fiesta (not very latest new model ) with an ecoboost petrol 1.0 100 engine. After returning from a drive in town today I lifted the bonnet and saw that the water in the coolant reservoir was bubbling and the fan was running. After a minute or so the fan stopped and also the bubbling stopped. Is this normal in a turbo engine.
