  • Honda Jazz IMA - Is this a good buy? 24 Feb 2021 (Forum)
My daughter wants to replace her elderly Jazz Mk1 and I’ve come across a high mileage Jazz IMA which I’m considering. Normally I’d run a mile from a. a very high mileage car and b.a driving instructor’s car. However- this is a 65 plate and has FSH serviced by Honda every 12, 500 miles and CVT fluid changed as per schedule and it’s not a pool driving school car, he’s a one man band and the car is apparently immaculate.
  • Wonderful TV drama haven't seen for years. 5 Jan 2021 (Forum)
As i might have mentioned before, i have DVD's of the real versions of Tinker Tailor and Smiley's People at home, and once every couple of years treat myself to a re-run. Have finished watching something, on Youtube, i haven't seen for some 35 years, namely The Jewel in the Crown. The whole series is there on Youtube, put up by a chap called Daniel Evans, marvellous to revisit and i've now realised i missed the last episode first time around, my life was in turmoil around that time so hardly surprising i missed and never realised, Geraldine James and Charles Damce in some very fine early performances.
  • any - best website to look for a new car 29 Nov 2020 (Forum)
I know my millage at around 10k puts me in petrol territory i've never had a problem with past diesel cars as they always get a good regular run as we live near a fast moving duel carriageway and are always driving along it to get anywhere from where we live. not sure on what car yes as undecided but to date in the 16 years i've been driving I've never bought a lemon.
  • Ford Fiesta - Battery Charging for seldom used vehicle 7 Nov 2020 (Forum)
Unsurprisingly then, this morning - given it was cold as well - it would not start, and the AA diagnosed the battery as being flat. The advice was to start and run the vehicle on the drive for 15 minutes each day. My father doesn't want the hassle of a trickle charger that means connecting / disconnecting to the terminals every time he wants to use it, and rather than start the car every day, I'm wondering if there are any other devices that work through the 12V socket that would trickle charge the battery all the time.

  • Accidentally hit parked car 29 Feb 2020 (Forum)
As I’m at work tomorrow, I won’t be able to report the incident until well beyond 24 hours later. Any advice on what I can do? I don’t want to be done for hit and run. I was focussed on getting a pen and paper so didn’t take a proper look at the damage done to the other vehicle, but there’s a large scratch down my car.
  • Any - Outlook with Gmail - problems 6 Nov 2019 (Forum)
Any ideas please guys and gals, as I'm slowly losing the will to live? Software is Outlook (as part of Office 365) running on Windows 10 Pro. For the record I use Firefox browser v70.0 (to access Gmail directly)
  • Landrover Freelander TD4 2008 - Turbo problems. 14 Oct 2019 (Forum)
Hi, Recently I noticed that my car was not running good. (losing a bit of power). I thought it was a dirty fuel filter, so I changed that and there was no change on the performance. The car has 180,000 miles on it. I took my car to the local garage and he put it onto his diagnostic machine.
  • MG ZS 2017 10000 miles - 10 months update and comfort. 22 Sep 2019 (Forum)
No paintwork problems on mine, and none on a similar white one nearby. ( I asked the owner and we had a good look together) Fuel economy 40 ish MPG, but much better on a "run" and car feels much happier on premium. Got a £2 voucher with shell GO+ app on smartphone against £10 minimum spend on fuel and 3p off a litre anyway. There is a Shell staion opposite a sainsbugs and they are only 1p a litre more, so discount for branded fuel worth it.
  • Flipping Cars: A newbie looking for advice 10 Sep 2019 (Forum)
I have recently decided to take the plunge in trying to buy cars at auction and sell for a profit. I have spent quite some time researching this and purchased my own car at auction as a test run (would have cleared around 800 based upon autotrader prices). I have come across a theoretical problem which I thought I would put out here. -When purchasing my car I received the green slip from the V5C as proof of ownership but the V5C itself did not arrive for around 2 weeks.
  • TV/Satelite Cables 26 Aug 2019 (Forum)
We no longer have sky but I was wondering if the dish would act as an antennae and the sky cable could be connected to a TV set. It would save me running 60 metres or so of new coaxial through the house, loft and onto the roof antennae. The sky cable looks like a twin cable which I am hoping will accept a normal coaxial connector. Any ideas or suggestions would be welcome.
  • Van reliability information 13 Aug 2019 (Forum)
Van to be medium van as small as possible but practical for normal use. Economy to approach 40  mpg on a run if possible. the obvious choice VW transporter appears overpriced and not reliable. Difficult to get reliable information on reliability!  Peugeot expert/ Toyota proace looks good as does Ford transit custom.
  • My life (dentist) ruined from a motorcycle acciden 23 Jul 2019 (Forum)
Throwaway because I am pressing charges from the person who hit me with their SUV. My life has been ruined since getting run down by a reckless driver, while I was on a motorcycle. I am a young professional (dentist), and because of this accident, I am recovering with my parents. This accident happened a number of weeks ago, and I have life-changing injuries.
  • Children damage and responsibility question 1 Apr 2019 (Forum)
What can I do about a number of children aged between 2 and 7 running around my drive where two cars are parked.  The front is open with 2 parking spaces which is my drive, but there are no front gardens and the neighbours also have their own parking bay in front.
  • Suzuki SX4 - Intermittent misfires. 25 Mar 2019 (Forum)
The only way I can create the issue (sometimes!) is to try to accelerate in 5th on a gradient that gives uneven running for a short time. It could be a plug/lead issue I expect and I’ll see my excellent local mechanic in the next couple of days and no doubt he’ll have some ideas but I thought some of the gurus on here may have seen a similar issue.
  • Jaguar S-Type - Blue smoke 9 Mar 2019 (Forum)
Hi I bought an S type Jaguar two weeks ago, the first frosty morning we had I started the engine and pressed the three buttons to clear front and rear screens, the blower started up inside and the screens cleared, I had left the engine running for about five minute's then blue smoke started blowing down from the front right hand side of the engine (as you look at it) , it had a strong smell like plastic or rubber burning. I turned the engine off and had a look and it seemed to be blowing down from which looked like a vent hole on the right hand side behind the front valence.
  • When the default answer doesn’t fit 8 Mar 2019 (Forum)
I’d’ve pointed them towards a nearly new Toyota Auris Hybrid Estate which is proving very popular as a taxi thanks to its proven running gear and economy. They’re not hugely costly for a hybrid and there’s none of the usual diesel reliability woe to worry about.
  • Ford All New Focus ST Line 1500cc - Ford SYNC 3 1 Dec 2018 (Forum)
Honestly it would have been better to abdone Sync and fit an Android notepad, as it least it has connectability and could run apps. This car was not cheap and I am very disappointed in the infotainment system, which I consider old fashioned and not up to modern  technological standards.
  • Volkswagen Passat Estate Audi S4 - What Estate car to buy 28 Oct 2018 (Forum)
Requirement: Quite big, quite fast.  What I want is an Audi S4 Avant.  My issue is that at 20K miles a year the running costs will be excessive.  Looking at the Passat Estate BiTTi which is still pretty fast but way more economical.   it is, however, a diesel and I'm a bit scared of going that route...
  • Ford Focus 2012 - Ford Focus Powershift Automatic Shudder/Shaking 30 Sep 2018 (Forum)
I understand this is a known problem and Ford extended the warranty on the models effected from the usual 3 years to 5 in the UK. Wheras US and AUS got a 10 year extended warranty With my extended warranty running out last year i'm guessing I will just have to take this on the chin and pay for the repairs? Does anyone have a similar situation and how have they got on? Ideal situation would for me to worm my way out of a £500+ bill
