  • Honda Jazz engine failure. 8 Feb 2010 (Forum)
Regarding the earlier thread on the ride "quality" of the Jazz a few of you might recall my past criticisms. of our own car known to us as "Mr Bumpy". Anyway to get to the point. For a while now we have noticed a noise coming from the engine from cold untill it was warmed up. this was mentioned to the garage and it was left to me to arrange to leave the car overnight for them to check it out.
  • Problem with service history 14 Oct 2006 (Forum)
I have been the proud owner of an 02 vectra 1.8LS for two weeks. The car was purchased from a used car dealer and all the documents are in good order. The only problem has been the intermittent appearance of an engine block warning light on the dash. The dealer honoured his obligations under the warranty and I took the car to his preferred garage to get it checked out.The garage managed to fix this problem and I was happy enough with this.I enquired about a price to service the car and the mechanic asked to see the service booklet. On studying the history he was a bit suspicious that the timing belt hadn't been replaced at 63000 miles and called the garage in question to enquire about this.He was told that the belt had not been replaced. This makes the belt overdue and he has quoted me £200 to carry out the work.By my own admission I am a bit green when it comes to these things and I'm not sure that I should be shelling out this money so soon after purchase and still well within the three month warranty.Does anyone know if I have a claim against the garage that didn't replace the belt, were they obliged to replace it?
  • Peugeot 307 SW (2002 - 2008) - 2002 2.2 Unblock diesel filter warning 17 Oct 2008 (Forum)
We were heading home after a day out and had been cruising at 40 - 50 mph on open country roads. The car drives ok with no loss of power or rev limit. The light is now off again. The car was bought from pug dealer as an approved used car in November 2007 and the service history is almost complete (the car was a demonstrator then sold and serviced by the dealer then sold to me).
  • Do dealers know what they're doing? 7 Jan 2007 (Forum)
The car will be going back on Tuesday and they will have to spend more time looking at it, why cant they do it right the first time? I am just pleased that its got a years warranty and another 5 years TLC because I wouldnt want to pay them for their service!!
  • Mazda 3 - Car sold with no service history. Advice/Feedback 21 Jun 2017 (Forum)
In addition the istop stopped working, and the dash section that shows you current gear and suggested gear also stopped working. I booked the car into Mazda (as advised by Stoneacre since it was under warranty), but when i took the car to Mazda I was told that I may not be covered for the work, as there was no service history with the car so the warranty could be invalid.
  • KIA Sorento - Kia Sorento 2015 automatic transmission problem 5 Dec 2019 (Forum)
Other than that, the car is nice and priced low. It’s done around 30 000miles. I'm in real dilema should I go for it or look for another one? The sales person stressed that any mechanical issue with the gear box would still be covered by the balance of the 7-year Kia warranty.
  • Do you recognise your car's cries for help ? 13 Mar 2008 (Forum)
Neither bro-in-law nor his missus had thought anything was amiss; they thought it was road noise from the fat tyres and had been present since they bought the car. Sis-in-law thought I was trying to find fault because it was a Skoda and got a bit prickly, but the bearing has since been replaced under warranty. It made me think of a few noises that I can diagnose by sound alone; driveshafts clicking, propshafts clicking (but differently), worn brake shoes and brake pads grinding, cracked coil spring rattle, door seal whistle, big end rattle, main bearing rumble, timing chain clatter, tappet rattle and exhaust blowing.
  • Fiat Punto Power Steering Problem 14 Jun 2005 (Forum)
Last night she was driving home from work when the power steering failed for no apparent reason. She managed to get the car home and when she turned the car off and restarted it the steering came back. She says that it just went when she was driving up quite a main road. Not long after she got the car the power steering warning light came on, the steering remained though.
  • Honda Civic - Honda Civic deal from drivethedeal.com 11 Jun 2018 (Forum)
I'm considering buying a Honda Civic petrol 1.0 VTEC Turbo SR Manual and was contemplating a nearly new 67 plate with 2100 miles for £17,500 at Arnold Clark https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201804095362530 However I just checked out drivethedeal.com (as well as car wow) and got a quote for a brand new car including optional metallic paint choice (with obviously longer warranty and save £140 on 1st year road tax) for £19,300. That's £1,700 more for a brand new one when you factor in the road tax saving.
  • Renault Laguna Coupe - Help needed after test drive 1 Jul 2013 (Forum)
Also, not completely sure but it only has one exhaust pipe which does not look like the original and only one - the versions from 2010 have two - does anyone know whether the 2008 model had one or two? Complete novice in respect of car mechanics. Car being sold by Jag garage who had it as a part exchange.  Comes with three month warranty. Also gets MOTd by an independant garage prior to us picking it up. Spoke to sales man and expressed my concern - he said it had been through their mechanics who said it was ok but that he would get it checked specifically for the issues I have raised tomorrow.
  • Mazda Mazda 5 7-str (2005 - 2010) - 06 2.0 TCS/DSC error 8 Aug 2012 (Forum)
Have in mind that a Mazda 5 is put on the market to hit families .Im wondering how many normal family have room for a repair like this in thier budget. On top of this, it is not possible to bye a used TCS/DSC modul from a reged car. Cause the modul is programed and has a unic code for each car. According to Mazda. Kalle Denmark
  • Going electric? 29 Mar 2022 (Forum)
The only sensible way to run them or most pricey new cars at the moment is via a contract lease as the leasing firms get huge discounts on the cars from the manufacturers. It typically costs £60/£70 a month less than a PCP and ends in exactly the same way with you handing the car back at the end with no money left in it.
  • Which Option? 5 Mar 2003 (Forum)
We use people totally independent to us who themselves have exemplary reputations. We are the only car dealers they have come across who spend the necessary amount on car services and repairs - their words not ours.
  • USA observations and rip off Britain 31 Aug 2007 (Forum)
Yet most of us over here wouldn't touch one with a barge pole. 10.Jeep/Dodge/Chrysler are doing a lifetime warranty on the powertrain of their cars there. I wonder if I walked into a British dealer and said I'd buy one as long as I got the same warranty the Americans get what response I'd get!!!
  • SEAT Alhambra - sunroof exploded 23 Nov 2018 (Forum)
Both myself and my partner, to this day, still suffer anxiety when driving the car which in itself ruined our holiday as it is nerve racking getting into a car that nearly killed us, as well as having to change our plans significantly. I was advised by Seat customer services that their legal team would be writing to me, as I had been advised not to accept a goodwill gesture of a meal out, due to the injuries, both psychological and physical, the severe inconvenience caused and extra expenses incurred.
  • I need a new medium family car 13 Jun 2010 (Forum)
I hate buying cars, but the 13yo Rover 216 I'm driving at the moment is on its last legs so I've got to bite the bullet. Some additional boot space over the Rover would be useful, but there's only a small space on the drive, so a large family car won't fit, so a Focus/Golf, etc it is .
  • Golf GTD - Buying a Golf GTD 31 Aug 2019 (Forum)
After hashing out a deal with a big-name dealer, I’m financing the car at £250 a month, which includes 2 year Warranty, Servicing, MOT and Paint/Cloth protection. Perfect for my budget.   After putting down a reservation deposit, the dealer rings to say there’s a couple things that need fixing on the car (a scratch on the bumper and new plates needed) and it’ll be with me.
  • Ford B Max. - Well...I went and did it. 2 Aug 2017 (Forum)
I suppose I could try to see this as a project, though hopefully not an expensive and depressing one. Ford extended the warranty to five years on the gearbox, so we have a year of ownership before the cost of fixing any potential problems become solely our responsibility. And for what its worth, the indy dealer who sold the car to me has given 12 months parts and labour warranty, which along with his good reputation and 30 odd years in the business does give me some peace of mind.
  • Audi A1 - Buying Audi A1 from an AUDI dealer 29 Dec 2013 (Forum)
Hi, I`ve gone and put down a deposit on an AUDI A1 2011 (Audi APPROVED) at an AUDi dealership. It`s MOT`d until march and has 1 years Audi warranty. I probably haven`t haggled the BEST deal but at £11,400 it seems ok. I only used my debit card to put down the £400, I didn`t sign anything. Over the weekend I suddenly realised I probably should have got the car inspected by a third party ?
