  • Ford Fiesta - Can't get into the car 6 Apr 2011 (Forum)
I decided to remove the door trim to have a look at the lock to see if it was easy to sort, after half an hour of trying to work out how to the get the trim off, i managed to remove the inside door handle thingy (unplugging the power from the speaker), the metal covering the wing mirror, window winder, still couldn't get the trim off, unclipped it but it wouldn't come out of the top. Lifted up the trim and saw that there is a plastic sheet covering the door so gave it up.
  • Ford KA, KA2, KA3 - Ford Ka really low MPG 22 Mar 2010 (Forum)
i have recently covered about 76 miles in my car and it seems to have used about 15 litres of fuel for this, which works out around 20-25 MPG. My car is a 2008 Ka 1.3 Style climate with the Duratec 69 hP engine, so it should be averaging 35-40 MPG. admittedly it was a mixture of city/a road driving, quite a bit of braking involved, but surely 20-25 is very low?
  • Autoaid 16 Apr 2007 (Forum)
Very straightforward journey back home, and then unloads my car outside the house, and as I get my card out ready to pay him, he gets in his lorry and drives off (I had already signed the sheet before he unloaded the car). Now this is the third time ever that I've had to use my autoaid cover in the last 10 years, first time I had to pay, but the last 2 times the drivers haven't asked for any money from me - which was what I thought Autoaid was all about!
  • New Car Time (again!!) 13 Oct 2006 (Forum)
After your quality advice last time around, I opted for an Accord i-CDTI in sport trim, which has been pretty good. Delivered at the end of March this year, it's now covered just over 35,000 miles with no issues to report, other than rubbish paint quality. Anyone looking to cover serious miles should give one a look! However, a bolt from the blue email came through on Monday this week, offering me a new job....and a new car!
  • VW Passat S TDi PD (130) Auto 25 Jul 2006 (Forum)
I have recently purchased a: VW Passat S TDi PD (130) Automatic 2005 (05) which has covered just 11000 miles. My question is with regards to Fuel Economy, I have the computer on board which works out the MPG whilst driving and on average until reset at every refill. This car is driven 75% around town and 25% on a run and only seems to be returning 320 miles to a full tank of diesel (last fill up was 54.00 litres) and the computer works it out to be an average of only 30 'ish MPG and 320 miles covered - seems a tad low to me ??

  • VW Eos - Gearbox - synchromesh fault 3 Oct 2010 (Forum)
My 11 month old VW Eos 2.0 SE Tdi has a fault affecting the 5th gear synchromesh. The car was purchased new by me and has covered 8000 miles. My dealer proposes to remove the gearbox and replace the synchromesh. Is it normal to strip and repair or should I expect a replacement gearbox?
  • Unbelievable price - Citroen dealer 27 May 2008 (Forum)
Citroen dealer near me is advertising a C6 2.7HDI V6 Auto for £25,555. Car has covered 20mls, is reg Dec 2007 in iron grey metallic. Plus there's four years 0% finance if you can scrape a deposit of £8,950 together. They say the price is 'unbelievable', what do others think?
  • Workshop manuals - Vaux Meriva 30 Jun 2007 (Forum)
My Meriva is now out of warranty, and I want to service the car myself. There is no Haynes manual for it, but a search on the net brings up http://www.datamanuals.net/ which list a Vauxhall Workshop CD rom covering it and many other models. Has anyone ever used these CDs ?
  • Motorpoint "add on charges" 7 May 2007 (Forum)
Should I have had to pay on the road charges and compulsary europa £89 breakdown cover which added £174 to the price of my car. It says on the invoice "customer ordered extras and accessories": Prep, HPI and PCI Charge 62.13 Euoplates 25 Europ assistance 89 Seems confusing to me!

  • SORN declaration 24 Apr 2004 (Forum)
Hi, I bought a second hand car 4 weeks ago without a tax disc. I taxed it on the day I got it and I have just received a SORN declaration today from the DVLA. Can I ignore this notice or do I have to contact the DVLA? Sorry if this has been covered before.
  • How good is the 1970s BSA triple? 23 Feb 2004 (Forum)
Who remembers the 1970 CAR magazine cover featuring the BSA Rocket 3, which they pitched against a Lotus? I've had the rather stupid idea that I might like to save up for one. Or perhaps I should be (slightly) more sensible and set my sights on the Z900.
  • Ford Focus Zetec - ECU failure not covered by warranty 21 Mar 2018 (Forum)
On testing the car following this, the replacement engine failed and a third engine was installed. Alex eventually recovered his car on October 24th 2017. The car’s engine started misfiring again in November, and Stewart suggested taking it to Ford in Guildford for a full diagnostic test.
  • Ford Fiesta Saloon - 3 years with ford Fiesta 1.6 TDCi 30 Sep 2010 (Forum)

  • DVLA Online Tax Rubbishness 28 May 2009 (Forum)
Since the insurance industry is quite capable from starting cover the instant they get payment, I didn't anticipate arranging new cover until towards the end of the month. But DVLA can't do me a tax disc online or over the phone because I have no insurance cover in place for May.
  • Ecotec V6 oil cooler info. 22 Jun 2004 (Forum)
When parked facing downhill some coolent tended to appear on the front flange of the sump, having run forward either side of the cooler cover and run down the front of the engine either side of the water pump (I suspected the pump initially). Another sign is white encrustations on the side of the bellhousing flange at the bottom, where the water runs down from the rear of the cooler cover.
  • Nissan Qashqai - Car broken into - what did they do? 16 Oct 2018 (Forum)
Had someone break into my car; they got away with the £2 in coins in the glove but nothing else. They did however remove a plastic panel on the underside of the dashboard (drivers side, just above the levers for opening the boot and petrol cap cover).
