Citroen dealer near me is advertising a C6 2.7HDI V6 Auto for £25,555.
Car has covered 20mls, is reg Dec 2007 in iron grey metallic.
Plus there's four years 0% finance if you can scrape a deposit of £8,950 together.
They say the price is 'unbelievable', what do others think?

Just what was 4cast when the car came out!
Money pit and potentially a great buy when it is a low mileage 4 yr old and £8,000
Similar story to VW Phaeton (maybe not as extreme)

I think they'll be a lot cheaper than that soon. I am sure that a lot of people still haven't got their heads round the massive increases in ved and what it will do to larger vehicle values when they are 5 or so years old.
They cannot sell the things, which is a pity as they are a wondrous car, if they had the confidence to put a 5 year warranty with the vehicle i think it would have made a lot of difference, this car will be out of warranty in 18 months time, a lot of money to pay out for a citroen with that sort of guarantee.
The C5 will have the same engine soon, that won't help things at all, for all i know they may already be available, but we are only delivering the 4 cyl diesels so far.
Off slightly, but we are mainly carrying small new cars around these days, esp C1/107/aygo , and i can't remember the last large engined mainstream, mass produced vehicle i delivered.

In Germany, the C5 is available with the 6 cylinder engines from the C6. I have to say the C5 is a very attractive looking car, especially the estate. I saw one parked next to a C6 at a dealer and to be honest it made the C6 look ungainly and weird by comparison. The interior looks good as well (at least through the windows).

It's remarkable that car pricing is such a rip-off in the UK (and the rest of Europe) that the dealer thinks £25K is unbelievable.
In the US recently, it was astonishing to see the prices they pay for the same cars we have:
Focus - $8999, BMW X3 - $21999, etc.
And I reckon that C6 would be £4-5K max in 4yrs time, not £8K.

I brought along my wife and visitting father-in-law (he lives in england) to a Citroen dealer on the south side of Dublin the other day. Well, there was a new shape black Citroen C5 inside the showroom ( a black and a red one outside). I can assure you, in black this car looks absolutely superb. The one we looked at was a 2.0 diesel. To my surprise I found the driving seat extremely comfortable. The build quality of the car seems very good ( inside plastics were good). We were all genuinely impressed with it and found it to be a fabulous looking car in black. Unfortunately I have to wait a while before I buy a new car.
On the way home we visitted a Ford dealership and sat in the Mondeo. Being totally truthful,it is a very good and comfy car (the most room in it's class); but I wouldn't put it ahead of the Citroen C5. The C5 definitely has the wow factor. The talk about residual values is important; but it mainly counts if you get rid of the car after about 3 years. If you keep the car a lot longer and do a big mileage, then it doesn't matter so much. The Citroen C5, the Peugeot 407 and the new Mondeo all share diesel engines don't they? Even Jaguar shares the bigger engine? The Citroen C5 felt nice and solid. It did excellently in the crash test. I think it is a car that gives you great value for money ( if you don't sell it too soon).

A colleague of mine used to persuade the company to buy him a series of Citroen XMs as company cars.
As the fleet manager said to me,"There is only one easier way to lose money than buying a large luxury Citroen... and that is to stand at a street corner handing out fifty pound notes to the queue that forms in front of you."
