McLaren T25 City car - Revolutionary - or roll over? 12 Jul 2010 (Forum)
Just what we need for crowded roads, perhaps. But a couple of lads returning from a night out drinking would seem to be able to roll this on it`s side. I can beat 74 mpg in the Punto van too - despite it being twice the weight. Will it catch on though? And perhaps even more importantly will it be the `ice breaker` for lightweight cars becoming desirable? -
Ford Fusion - Tyre Pressure For 175/65 R14 Tyres 9 Jul 2010 (Forum)
I'm glad to have gone down a size because I've always felt that the 15inch steel wheels and 195/60 r15's were too close to the wheel arch. Anyway the 14inch wheels have been fitted with 175/65 r14 Conti Eco Contacts, the only downer is knowing what the "normal" pressure should be, I've looked around on the net and can't find anything, the tyres have a max of 44psi. -
1.8 nissan almera auto 2002 - new exhaust now engine management light on 6 Jul 2010 (Forum)
Going to take it back to KwikFit - they caused the problem after all. What should I be asking them to do? Is this a new sensor(s) issue? Different CAT? Really inconvenient for me so need to get it sorted & not just re-set again. Thanks for any advice. JM -
Ford Mondeo - Speedometer drops to Zero - once on every journey. 11 Jun 2010 (Forum)
I have a Y reg. MK2 Mondeo Zetec-S. My speedo drops to zero after about 4 miles of driving, it then resumes normal operation after about another mile. The mileometer also stops, the car loses a little bit of power, and the volume of the radio suddenly drops. -
Ford Fiesta - Fiesta - engine temperature guage fluctuating 7 Jun 2010 (Forum)
Hello, Recently the temperature guage on my 1.6Zetec S Fiesta (51 plate) has fluctuated quite a lot. For example on a normal 20minute drive the guage would start normal, then go into the red, then back to the middle, then higher, then lower etc. Yesterday when I returned home the guage was in the red, and the coolant reservoir was making what can be described as a gargling sound. -
Would an independent garage repairing a Teves Mk 60 ABS Pump count as a modification? 5 Jun 2010 (Ask HJ)
Hi, do you think if this replacement or modification is fitted, would any insurance company consider this a modification and increase the insurance costs?... -

Recently the tickover varies from fast to normal. I`ve oiled the linkages and tey sem fine. Any ideas? Also the symbols on the dash imtermittently start to pulse about once a second. -
Distinctive motoring `sniffs` 10 Apr 2010 (Forum)
;-) Duckhams Q20/50 stood out as really different to other motor oils at the time I had a Mini van in 68. Not just in it`s green colour but it also smelt great. Wonder why? - I certainly don`t notice anything attractive about the smell of Mobil 1 currently. Wonder if it was a youth thing. Too long in chalky classrooms perhaps, only a couple of years before and experiencing `motor` related smells for the first time. -
Vauxhall Astra G Diesel - Astra radio code entry DRIVING ME CRAZY !!! CDR500 31 Mar 2010 (Forum)
BUT, upon pressing the AS key whilst switching the radio on, it does indeed come up with the display showing the four dashes, for the code input _ _ _ _ HOWEVER, as soon as I release the AS key to input the code, the _ _ _ _'s disappear and the word PANEL comes up in the display. Aghhhhhhhhh This is a factory installed system, been working for ages, no panel swaps etc. Please, before I go crazy (well, crazier), can anyone help ? -
Renault Megane (1999 - 2002) - 01 1.4 Lumpy Tickover 21 Feb 2010 (Forum)
Once warm the engine runs reasonably well but at idle it deviates by around 200rpm. The stepper motor and map sensor have both been replaced with s/h but working units. Any ideas? Thanks in advance. -
Volvo S40 (2004 - ) - Volvo S40 - real life experiences? 17 Feb 2010 (Forum)
Are the seats comfortable for long journeys and has anyone got a realistic MPG for the 1.6 petrol? I had one as a courtesy car for 3 days and was impressed, the spec seemed good even for the 1.6 S variant and the prices seem to be around Ford Focus level as well ( I know the S40 is based on the Focus chassis so the handling is pretty good) -
Volkswagen Polo IV (2005 - 2009) - Variable Servicing or not? 10 Feb 2010 (Forum)
If on variable servicing it may not have had its first service yet. (it has done 11k) Is there are easy way to tell if it?s on standard servicing or variable. I used to have an Audi A4 and on that you pushed a ?spanner? button on the dash and it told you when the next service was due. Does the Polo have a similar set-up? -

Ford Fiesta (1995 - 1999) - Cam belt Change costs 4 Jan 2010 (Forum)
I had the cambelt changed on my 1997 1.25 16v Zetec engined Fiesta by a small local French garage, billed for 2.5 hrs labour (total 110?). Has anybody got the book time? I thought that the book time was 3.5 hrs (with P/S), or is my memory failing? Rhetorical question, I know it is! A good result, because otherwise the car would have been left in an airport carpark at 90?. I supplied the Gates cambelt kit - which had been riding in the boot for the last 18 months as a guarantee that terminal failure would occur. -

Ford Mondeo IV (2007 - ) - 08 2.0 tracking problem 18" alloy wheel 24 Oct 2009 (Forum)
My car is a Titanium X estate with sport appearance pack. I have got bad tyre wear on the front o/s wheel. A tyre specialist garage checked the tracking, but informed me that they did not have the correct settings available for my particular model. They then said they should be the same as a previous model. -
Filth beyond belief - descending gaga to cylinders 16 Aug 2009 (Forum)
Straight down the throats of those once pristine inlet tracts - and into the cylinders as gritty grinding paste for the bores and rings. That`s the EGR. Or rather `the facilitator of filth` I`ve just blanked off the EGR on the 1.9D (as in tech) But woa.. what wet oily filth has been descending.. I`m amazed engines keep running... Now add DPF.. -

Baked on bugs > best remedy 10 Jun 2009 (Forum)
Having travelled on a long hot trip about a week ago when it was hot, I?m still left with some of the baked-on remains of bugs. ( even after lots of rain. ) It?s a black car so they seem to show. I?ve tried hot water & sponge, and non-abrasive kitchen cleaners, but there always seems to be some left on. I?m trying not to scratch the surface of course, so I?
