any - Tyre Tread depth. 1 Aug 2021 (Forum)
We are advised to replace when the depth is reduced to 2mm. I recently replaced mine with a set of leading brand tyres. On line facts give noise level, braking and fuel consumption performance. I was surprised when I measured the as new tread depth as 6mm. giving only 4mm of wear. I can remember getting 50,000 miles out of a set of Michelin tyres many years ago (unfortunately no recollection of tread depth.) -
VW Golf not starting 18 Oct 2020 (Forum)
A quality garage has changed the clutch switch, it worked for about half an hour, it has been on various garage computers and brings nothing up on the fault codes. Another garage has removed all the earth leads as some was corroded and replaced all. It worked ok for 3 days and back to normal, not starting. Any idea guys. The garages it has been to are very reputable, it's had a new battery as well. -
Dashcam suitable to switch between cars 6 Aug 2019 (Forum)
I need a good resolution for detail like number plates when playing clips back; quick to release and fix to windscreens when changing between vehicles; if possible, a reasonable battery life so I don't need a charge lead hanging off it all the time. Need one to do the job so not necessarily the cheapest. Any recommendations please? -
GPS, GMP advice 12 Apr 2018 (Forum)
I was interested to hear on Sky news today that GMP advice GPS units to be put on the bottom of the screan and touching them can lead to a fine of £50 plus. My windscrean is quite sharply racked and so putting the GPS unit on the bottom makes it so far away I can not see the details, secondly as you drive it gives traffic updates and if it suggests another route demands a confirmation if you wish to use it. -
Hard cold starting, Yamaha Scooter.125cc 7 Jul 2016 (Forum)
I can hear the starter is turning but the engine will not fire. The charging system has been charged and is O.K. I had to have the bike started with leads by the RAC where it started first time. Also, in the colder weather, it seems to stall when started and can only be kept running if I opening the throttle. When started, it re-starts first time. -

Engine size Nissan QQ 17 Jan 2015 (Forum)
Had this engine in a Micra a much lighter car and was not impressed with its ,poke, A qq is much heavier than a Micra so I do not see any improvement in performance of even keeping the status quo of the 1.5.cc Can any current owner of the 1.2.QQ assure me that it has .getupand go,? Would like the 1.6. diesel but short runs I fear would lead me into conflict with the DPF. hfp -

VW Golf 1.6 Tdi DSG 105 Bhp - Extended warranties 26 Jul 2013 (Forum)
I test drove one of these and was amazed at the performance as I was lead to believe the 1.6 diesel might be underpowered. The price was about £1000 more than it should have been, but it was a main dealer (Peugeot) and in a small rural town and it did come with a 5 year extended warranty. -
Chrysler Grande Voyager - Chrysler Grande Voyager cutting out 26 Jun 2013 (Forum)
It usually starts up again if we get out of the car and rock it from side to side ????? Recently we had our car in the garage as it would not run, it had a service, new pipes, leads etc, they also disconnected our gas conversion as they thought this was the problem. But now one month on and £550 later we are in this situation as above??? Any advice would be greatly received, i'm a stay at home mum so not very mechanically minded lol. -
Toyota - Well Done - Another Recall Toyota 24 Nov 2012 (Forum)
I appreciate that there are getting a few too many of these but I continue to have the utmost respect for Toyota as a Company and the fact that they refuse to hide these issues and risk the bad publicity to do what is correct for the customer. My understanding is that the fault leads to a potential noise in the steering mecahnism only and is not safety related yet they continue to publicise this. Any other company would probably just wait until the customer complained and then fixed it as teh customers raised it and not gone public at all. -

Is this the future of SatNav? No annoying voice! 7 May 2012 (Forum)
According to AT&T drivers accurately followed instructions and made fewer turn errors. The work also builds on other research showing that listening to voices is distracting and leads to loss of control of the vehicle. Is this necessary technology or another gimmick? see original article: http://mashable.com/2012/03/22/att-steering-wheel/ -

Ford Fiesta (1995 - 1999) - 99 1.25 - Can I fit NGK Platinum Sparkplugs? 16 Nov 2009 (Forum)
Hi Folks My Fiesta sometimes has trouble starting and I'm going to replace my HT leads because I still have the originals (10yrs 95,000miles). It will need new plugs as well. The recommended plugs are NGK TR5A-10, but I noticed that NGK do a Platinum version part no. PTR5A-10, which only cost a few pounds more. -
Honda Civic UK (1995 - 2000) - 00 1.4 Which Battery 25 Oct 2009 (Forum)
The battery on my Honda Civic has been playing up and needs replacement. On searching on the internet there are different batteries available like Lead Acetate battery (45 Ah) from Halfords (£59.99) who fit it as well for a nominal fee of £4.99 or others avalable online like Alphaline for £47 with a power of 45 Ah or Varta Battery with 45 Ah power for £52 or Numax for £45 with 35 Ah I do not know which one to buy and how easy or difficult it is to fit a battery by yourself. -
Jeep Grand Cherokee (1994 - 1999) - 95 4.0 Unable to start 15 Aug 2009 (Forum)
The commonest problem I've seen with these is the crank sensor although this did seem a bit all of a sudden as there was now warning or other problems leading up to it. fuel pump primes and engine turns over fine. I read somewhere that you can get the fault codes on your dash but not sure any help would be appreciated. I have checked relay's fuses and ordinary stuff.
