  i've just got a xantia 1.9 terbo desil and its haveing trouble starting on a morning after heating glow  plugs twice for 30 seconds it still takes 1/2 minutes off turning it over to get it started and it kicks out a cloud off white smoke after that it runs well and starts up wen warm not sure iff its plugs or injectors

  My daughter has a Hyundai i10 on a 59 plate and when the engine is idling there is an intermittent whirring noise (rather like an electric motor running) which I cannot trace having considered all the likely things it could be. Would be grateful if anyone has come across this and if so what causes the noise. Many thanks.

  Hi, I have a 2002 Yaris and the speedo has started to play  up,going from the proper speed reading to zero for a few miles then giving a varied readout.The ABS light goes out when starting the engine and the car runs ok apart from the speedo problem. Any ideas on where to look for the problem please?

  Nissan Almera 1.5 Yreg. Engine management light on, and running rough. checked timing chain and it had stretched, replaced chain cam gears etc etc all comes in kit. started car, same problem! changed camshaft sensor same problem!!!!!!!!

  Bought a 56 plate Ford Focus TDci sport less than three weeks ago, the car is running great but the engine management light came on the other night while driving on motorway, the next morning all ok no light on, but three days later the light is back on, any idea what is causing it.

  car starts and runs for few mins but wont go over 2500 revs, then cuts out and the engine mangment lights comes. dirty fuel was put into it but i drained it out and put clean fuel in and cleared the codes but  when i turned the car off then re-started it and the light came back on and it stoped after few mins again.

  we have an 06 and a 59 plate couple of aygo's,both are used at least 6 days a week;both when they got to 20k failed their mot's due to severe corrosion of their discs and resulting imbalance of the brakes- I have always run fords before usually taking them up to 70k before new discs were needed is this the price you pay for economical cars!

  windows failed on mine last year I was told by dealer water had got in loom, I am an  electrician & often run mains cables in water to pumps for for fountains no problems. The car was just out of warranty. As the windows would not close I had them fixed. I contacted SKODA UK &  I was reimbursed 75% of the cost Stick with your rights it works!

  hi still got fuel problem i put £10 of diesel in andonly got 47 miles on a run just wondered if changing thermostat and coolant temp sensor and vac pipe  will make that much difference , i have serviced it about 2000 miles ago to see if that made any difference but it didnt, hope somebody can help thanks
• Renault Laguna Extreme DCI - Lose of engine power. 26 Mar 2012 (Forum)
  I was driving along at 60 mph and the Prehearing Warning Light appeared and the car suddenly lost power and lots of smoke came from the exhaust. The engine kept running but still lacked power. When i stopped the car it would idle as normal. When i pressed on the accelerator it is slow to pick up on the revs. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

  Spent 3 hours the other night at a very strange customer focus event in the Thames Valley. It was run by a marketing company gathering customer opinion data for a manufacturer who they tried to keep secret.  It was based around the styling and desirability of cars in the 'softroader' category, ie CRV, Tiguan, RAV4 etc.

  Car has about 60k and runs fine, but when accelerating past 2800 revs and dropping below 2400 revs, the charging light/beeper briefly activates. I put a voltmeter on and the voltage does indeed drop during these times, so it's not a faulty alarm!

  I lose power in sharp corners and roundabouts after a long run of say 100 miles plus. The car has just been serviced and has had new lambda sensors fitted as previous were "shot" and this was happening pre service and it has not been cured. Any ideas?

  Then the power steering failed. Then all the other warning lights came and the engine started to splutter as if running out of petrol although it has a full tank. The engine died and will not restart. Any ideas. Thanks for any help

  It was from london to Blandford in the wee small hours in a 2 litre Vauxhall Victor and the road was clear all the way. A starry night too  I had a completely clear run along the Salisbury-Blandford road too with headlights seemingly shining out forever ahead.

  Can anyone explain why so many electronic gadgets which run on two AA or AAA batteries decide to stop working as soon as the battery voltage is down to 1.47 Volts? The nominal battery voltage is 1.5, brand new ones usually read almost 1.6, why do the manufacturers not design the circuits to keep going till individual batteries are down to say 1.4 Volts?

  First start of the day there is rarely a problem but after that it some times takes six or seven attempts. It is very intermittent. Once started it runs perfectly. It has been doing this for about the last 1000 miles in all weathers but mainlywhen it's dry. Due to go in for second service soon so hope they can sort it.

  When taken to the garage and connected to the magic machine it indicates a fault with the fuel pressure switch. However, once the computer is re-set the car runs normally until the next time. This last happened a year ago, and has recently happened again. Any clues??

  In the last two years it has had no service of any kind, and has covered 20,000 miles. I have added a small drop of oil. Only has 70,000 on the clock.  I plan to run it into the ground, so resale value isn't a concern. What essential service should I do in order to keep it reliable? Thanks
