  • Any - Not changing the car 27 Jan 2020 (Forum)
Unless something catastrophic happens have now decided to run the MG ZS as long as is practical. Not for financial reasons but because of the problems associated with the "new tech". inc internal combustion engines. Secondly, will be 70 next year and now only really drive when necessary, Bus service till 7pm from town is good, last few every half hour, daytime every 20 minutes and about 100 metres from bus stop, also have bus pass.
  • FIAT Punto II (1999 - 2006) - 00 1.2 16v Oil Pressure Warning Light. 23 Sep 2019 (Forum)
That aside, what i'm asking is if there might be any other causes to look at before i end up stripping out the Oil Pump. Other than the constant warning light, the motor is running grand. Thanks in advance. Herro24
  • Corsa 2013 reg 1.2 sxi - Corsa D Breather Tube 17 Aug 2019 (Forum)
Hi all, I've got a very annoying engine squeak coming from my Corsa 1.2 sxi 2013 reg. It usually only happens after it's been running for a while. I've done some research online and contacted someone who had exactly the same noise as me and he resolved it by cleaning the breather pipes. There's 2x youtube videos of this and a few instructions but I just cannot find the pipes on my engine.
  • Any Carburetted - Fuel On The Roof 9 Aug 2019 (Forum)
I had the fuel pump delivering into the fuel can, but (presumably due to a lack of back pressure), it seems rather fast and would probably overflow the can if run for very long. I assume its OK to completely block off the fuel pump (assuming I can)? There is a return pipe to I presume it'll all just go back into the tank. Bit of trouble getting it to syphon, but that never seems to go like it does in the movies.
  • Peugeot 308 SW - Squeaking Noise 17 Jun 2019 (Forum)
Hi, I have a 2010 Peugeot 308 SW and for the past few months have noticed a strange squeaking noise after I drive for a while, when it's going over little bumps in the road or even when stopping and closing the rear doors or the boot. It only happens after the car had run for about 10 miles or so and then suddenly stops again after the car has cooled down for about 10 minutes. It almost sounds like a metallic chirping noise and comes from the rear region, underneath the car.
  • Audi A6 2005 - New Duel mass and clutch kit fitted making noises 28 May 2019 (Forum)
I have put a new clutch in my Audi A6 while I was on I did the Duel mass flywheel and the clutch slave cylinder replaced the brake fluid (as it shares a tank with the clutch slave cylinder) and blead the brakes and the new slave cylinder. When the car runs at idol it sounds like a squeeky/ grinding mettle on mettle noise when dipping the clutch and putting it in gear the noise remains but gears do select and wheels turn. The clutch peddle doesn't feel like it's doing anything untill half way pressed down.
  • Used car background checks 18 May 2019 (Forum)
Assuming they provide paperwork to back up the sales blurb is it enough? Also I would assume they would run the checks for their own protection when taking ownership of any car. Thanks
  • MOT advice please 10 May 2019 (Forum)
I was in an accident and I'm waiting for my claim to be resolved. I'm currently disputing the amount but my car will be written off. My MOT runs out tomorrow and I can't drive my car to get a new MOT (and it will fail anyway plus will never go back on the road again). I have road tax and insurance at the moment but am worried I could be fined for not having a valid MOT.
  • Honda Jazz. - Help! Looking for new Automatic - opinions needed. 8 May 2019 (Forum)
I am thinking about the Toyota Yaris, possibly the hybrid? I want something light and nippy and fun to drive. Good fuel consumption, and cheap to run. Not much to ask lol!   I could go back to gears I suppose, but automatics are so easy I am reluctant. Any suggestions gratefully received.
  • VW Polo2012 - Headlights 4 Apr 2019 (Forum)
Isn't this a bad design failing, especially if one were driving in a rural area at night? Another interesting point is that the car runs the headlights during daytime and the service record repeatedly shows headlamp changes.
  • any - good garage guide 17 Feb 2019 (Forum)
does anyone take care of this guide, ie if a garage closes and another takes over is anyone meant to update it. as a company called PTA used to run a small tyre place in Orpington which I noticed closed down late last year, reason unknown apart from a rumour, Bens Tyres has since opened in its place, but have noticed the guide still says PTA so obviously its not been updated I used to use PTA a lot for new tyres and often to replace discs and pads as their prices were probably the best, as were there mechanics whom I was actually sorry to see move to other companies  I don`t use the new people as I have had no need to, but from what I've seen they need to establish themselves but if they are as good as the old PTA mechanics they will do well...
  • Isuzu Dmax 2014 - DPF issue 28 Jan 2019 (Forum)
Doing some reading on this apparently it's something to do with the DPF cyle and the fact I do a lot of short runs. Can't change my work so need to go on damage limitation. Had the oil changed once between services as I did not like the idea of diesel swishing about in the oil but the level is rising quite quickly and still not got to it's first service at 12000 miles.
  • Fiat - Warm engine misfire. 2.8 jtd Ducato 2001 19 Jan 2019 (Forum)
My Fiat Ducato 2.8 jtd is misfiring when under load and engine is warmed up. It only happens at 3000 rpm and only when engine reaches running temperature. Nothing shows up when garage put it on their tester and no faults on dash. No smoke although exhaust is footy. So far we have replaced the crank sensor which didsort a stalling problem which had been going on for sometime.
  • Flunkies must everything in relation to Trialix an - Improvises your muscle growth results 8 Jan 2019 (Forum)
It strategy may not make sense to a lot of companions. We can thank Trialix for bringing that together. Finally, you run the risk of being called a coward. Why do you desire to freely provide something that deals with Trialix in an unique way? That Trialix company has become a stumbling, bumbling joke. Yes! I tell men precisely what they may have from Trialix .
  • Suzuki SX4 2013 1.6 Petrol, 35,000 miles any good? 15 Dec 2018 (Forum)
I'm going to look at one this afternoon with a view to parting company with the diesel corsa and migrating back to petrol.  Mainly as the price difference is quite noticeable and as I do the majority of short town runs it won't have the EGR/DPF troubles of the newer diesels.  My mileage is dropping to around 16 - 17k per annum so I feel that now would be the time to return to petrol power.  Any potential savings on fuel would be offset by the servicing as I believe the intervals on the SX4 are around 10k.
  • Why the difference between Diesel and petrol 7 Nov 2018 (Forum)
We have a 1.5 Clio Diesel and it comes under the old car tax rules and we don't pay for road tax and we have no plans on selling this car, We also do short journeys but still average 58 MPG with a long run now and again just to clear out the filter, so really happy with the car, Its just when you see the spread opening up between unleaded and Diesel and i am not sure why.
  • Chrysler Voyager - engine cutting out but starts 3 Sep 2018 (Forum)
I have  Chrysler voyager 2.5 SE turbo deisel, and it runs fine but cuts out when slowing down and sometimes on cornering as well The garage mechanic is having headache now trying to solve this at first when he took it for road test previously he said he was fine and never cut out on him but now after I said to him I am sorry but its still cuts out he had it from me properly because it was awkward for me as I had no oher transport to use so my freinds at my garage where I bought the voager from has kindly loaned me another vehicle while he sorts the problem out.
  • Rail replacement buses 2 Jul 2018 (Forum)
Apart from the appalling inconvenience, are the tickets the same price as the rail tickets? do they "run to time" and emulate the stops (if any) of the original cancelled train? Are they reliable modern buses with air con etc" Are they staffed by properly trained drivers who understand the customer care needs of rail passengers?
  • Maybe a CR-V - £5k Diesel Dilemma 28 May 2018 (Forum)
Does the advice of don't by a diesel for school runs & shopping extend to older cars ('08-'09)? I seem to read a lot on the subject that, when you drill down, appear to be talking about newer cars fitted with a DPF (I had to look that up) so I haven't been able to make a positively direct correlation.
  • Seat Leon - Buy a Golf Mk7 Face Lift or Seat Leon FR? 14 May 2018 (Forum)
Golf alittle more refined / quiet, and higher residuals but Seat very capable and more fun? It’s tough. I like them both. I’m buying car for long run / outright, so no pcp finance and changing in 3 years. Any objective opinions welcome. Thanks.
