  • SAAB 9-3 (1998 - 2002) - 99 2.0 Intermittent Clutch/Gearbox problem 8 May 2009 (Forum)
Hi all, Have just bought the above car and overall it's great. However after 5 days driving and a reasonable 120 mile run, it has developed a problem selecting gears. The fault is intermittent and either fully present or not at all. Fault is only present just after start up. What happens is I start the car but then cannot select any gears - the lever will simply not shift to any position, as if no clutch operation at all.
  • Diesel gear change with DMF in mind 7 May 2009 (Forum)
Mine has shift lights that do actually come on at 2k. Usually takes me down to 1.5k for the next gear. This got me thinking, people drive like this all the time, low revs and after reading about DMF failure and someone suggesting lugging from low down puts big stress on the DMF, does it? Is 1.5k really too low to drive like that all the time?
  • Need something v.cheap, powerful and economical! 7 May 2009 (Forum)
Hi there, I currently drive a VW Golf Gti 16v mk3 with 100,000 miles on it. The thing is bomb proof and a good mix of performance and comfort. With 150bhp and weighing only 1150kg its not as quick as modern hot hatches but its no slow coach!
  • Ford Focus II (2004 - 2007) - Buying new car this W/E last min advice! 5 May 2009 (Forum)
Dynamique, this time it's the dCi 105 bhp diesel, again low miles and about 6.5K. Obviously we have to drive them both. The only thing I'm woried about in the focus is the horror stories re road/tyre noise. The Megane, the engine sounds a cracker, but inevitably I'm worried about reliability. It's obviously at 2007 a face-lift model and I've read that the reliability is much improved.
  • Cars are too good for most of us now. 24 Apr 2009 (Forum)
Cars are too good for most of us now. Modern diesels are fitted with particulate filters that only work properly if you drive the car at moderate speeds at least part of the time. If you crawl pathetically about mimser-style and never let the thing breathe, it clogs up and costs you money and makes you whinge about it. But it's your damn fault.
  • Honda CR-V III (2007 - ) - Michelin Tyres 13 Apr 2009 (Forum)
In fact, I'm considering trying the pressures at 28psi all round to see if this makes any difference to the ride and drive, in general. Has anyone any experience of this problem with the Honda CRV (Sport) Petrol Automatic in particular, or the Michelin tyres fitted, as quoted above, please.
  • Ford Fiesta (2002 - 2008) - Warranty claim - Ford wriggling 23 Mar 2009 (Forum)
Just been speaking to my dad, his almost two year old Fiesta 1.4TDCi has done 56,000 miles as a driving school car. He has noticed when the car warms up gearchage becomes difficult, especially going through the neutral 'gate'. It will disengage gear OK, spring to neutral then it requires a real push to get it through neutral before it goes into the next gear with no problem.
  • is my car registered? 13 Mar 2009 (Forum)
There is now scam here - this was a merc main dealer, so just cockup, not conspiracy. However, I'm now worried about if I should actually be driving the car. Has anyone any experience of these matters?

Hi, Its been 9 months now since i own this 2005 BMW 320 CD. 74K Genunine Milage...perfect drive...excellent handling..in short its fun to drive... The only thing I am not happy about is the clutch paddle!!...its heavy.....fews days back I drove a 54 Plate Passat 1.9 TDI... 6 speed manual...also drove an Audi A4..2.0 TDI with 6 Speed manual transmission...if I compare these VW clutches with my BMW....they are very soft and smooth...I even got my car Inspected by BMW dealership in Surrey and they said that 'working' of my clutch is fine...i never said that i have some issues with the working of the clutch..it works fine....gears are engaging fine...no vibration but the paddle is HEAVY!...

  • Peugeot 307 (2001 - 2007) - 02 2.0 hdi (fap) model lacks low end power 28 Jan 2009 (Forum)
When we purchased the car we were bombing about in it and ws getting 40ish mpg out of it now with the most careful of driving we can only get around 29mpg and it is really sluggish until you get the revs up. It doesnt smoke and there are no odd oil leaks or diesel leaks. Any ideas anyone dont really want to give the main dealer all or xmas money just yet Thanx
  • Vauxhall Vectra C (2002 - 2008) - 02 2.2 Automatic doing strange things 18 Jan 2009 (Forum)
I have a 52 Vauxhall Vectra 2.2 Automatic. Recently I have experienced the strangest fault. When driving along, the car will seem normal, and then the enging light and the spanner symbol appear. When you put it over to manual the 5 will appear, however when you try and kick down a gear with either the pedal or the manual lever, it stays in 5th gear.

I like driving, I like people, and I like to think I have a strong work ethic ? so I've begun to think about training for ADI. My Uncle, who trained 15ish years ago, has not put me off. He has stated it is hard work but on the other hand has strong rewards.

  • Peugeot 306 (1993 - 2001) - 1999 1.6 running roughly 30 Nov 2008 (Forum)
Driving along quite happily today at about 40mph in top gear in SHMBO's 306, when it started to run a bit hesitantly, kept driving for about another two miles to our final destination and it got gradually worse, but not enough to warrant stopping.
  • Mercedes Benz CLK W208 (1997 - 2002) - 01 200 Komp, possible O2 sensor problem? 27 Nov 2008 (Forum)
I started the car again and it ran OK but the yellow engine warning light on the bottom right of the instrument cluster has stayed on. Anyone an idea what this may be and would it be OK to drive the car 25 miles to my nearest MB garage? Cheers Moved over to Tech and year/engine details edited in,

  • Mitsubishi Colt 3-door (2005 - ) - 07 1.1 Anyone ever had problem with EML coming on? 23 Nov 2008 (Forum)
Moved my car up my driveway. Turned off engine, locked it and went off to do other things. Few hours later, returned to drive car. It started fine, drove off down the road and noticed the engine maintenance light was showing on the dashboard. Rang Mitsubishi roadside assistance who said if the car was driving fine (which it is) then it's probably just the sensor and needs to be reset at a dealer.
