  • Nissan Micra - Spinning noise when clutch pedal pressed down 29 Jul 2019 (Forum)
I did a Google search and that would cause a spinning noise when the pedal is up. This is an old car with about 6 months MOT left on it so it's not worth taking to a garage.
  • Vauxhall Astra - Fuel additive for low blow engines 23 Jun 2019 (Forum)
If required this will be an additional £19.20." Never used an additive in any car, but then I've never had a turbo before. So, worth having or snake oil?
  • Honest John's Motoring Agony Column 12-05-2018 Part 1 13 May 2018 (Forum)
Good to see Edd China is back with his own shows again, albeit on Youtube. Watched the first episode last week and its back to being just like the Wheeler Dealers of old, namely getting his hands dirty fixing up cars you will recognise, without having to import them from the U.S first. Edd's Youtube channel is called "Edd China's Garage Revival"
  • Mazda 2 2016 - Mazda Infotainment System keeps restarting 16 Oct 2016 (Forum)

  • A comfortable 4 x 4 16 Jul 2016 (Forum)
I am the owner of an 18month old Jaguar XF. I have never been happy with the car. I live in a very rural area and find the ride on the local roads to be really uncomfortable. I'm looking at getting rid of it and swapping it for a 4x4.

  • what usedcar to pick ? - Seats for five tall adults 15 Jul 2015 (Forum)
I need an economical car for a 40 mile daily commute that will on occasion accommodate my wife and three tall teenagers - Possibly even for European holidays? Currently we use a Fiat Panda, mainly for my commute, and a Honda Shuttle (old but good) for the family.
  • 4 x 4 vs golf 12 Dec 2014 (Forum)
Where does the energy go? Even a few years ago this would have been serious I think. Count me out from buying a classic car.
  • Mitsubishi Colt CZ2 1.3 2009 - Gearbox oil change 19 Dec 2013 (Forum)
My car suffers from the notchy gear change problem that seems common with Colts. Mitsubishi recommend 75/90 semi-synthetic oil for the box. However I note from an old post you recommend switching to something like Redline MTL or GM Synthetic to improve this.

  • Vw Passat CC - Perished Continental tyre 13 Sep 2013 (Forum)
I just had to change one rear tyre, that can't be more than 2 or 3 years old, at the absolute max, because the sidewall was perished. It was quite obvious, can't understand what might mave affected only one tyre, all of them, have 6mm tread on. Might it be the one that gets the most Sun & UV on it where the car's parked ??
  • BMW 3 Series Compact E36 - M.O.T. (competent or incompetent technicians??) 2 Aug 2013 (Forum)
My 7 year old car was MOTd in March 2011 and passed for 12 months. Last week I suffered brake failure due to corroded brake pipes. BMW have replaced the pipes at a cost of £1000. How can brake pipes become unserviceable within 3 months?.....
  • Nissan Note - Peeling Paintwork 12 May 2013 (Forum)
I genuinely think this is a copout and the paintwork is not fit for purpose. In view of the age of the car do I have any recourse?

  • Audi any..... - Modern Audis 28 Aug 2012 (Forum)
Does the 0000 on the badge stand for the thousands it cost to repair them when out of warranty? I know of 3 people who all have audis under 2 years old and have all suffered breakdowns and replacement of major components, I thought they were meant to be reliable! I know the people in question have had their cars repaired under warranty but IF they were out of the warranty period the bills would be very large.

  • BMW X5 - Warranty direct wear and tear 15 Aug 2011 (Forum)
Is this wear and tear? Surely some oil is expected in a 7 year old car and also could this cause a crack in an intercooler. I feel seriously ripped off!!  I have written a letter of complaint but am sure this wont help. Does anybody have any advise.

  • Ford C Max 09 - Auxiliary drive belt 12 Mar 2011 (Forum)
The local ford dealer says it is the drive belt that needs changing at a cost of £90 and the belt is not subject to warranty. The car has done less than 25k and is just 2 years old. Has anyone had this problem? If the belt is defective why is it not covered by warranty or could this be a problem with the alternator.Thank you in anticipation.
