VW Polo - Advice Needed For The Best Possible Outcome 6 Apr 2024 (Forum)
After citing Consumer Protection that the onus is on him to prove it didn't already have a fault or wear already in the engine things got a little heated and we left with him stating 'It's the end of the week, lets leave it there, nothing will happen till next week now' The following day, which was a Saturday, we got a call at 5pm stating 'Everyone had gone home so I've taken the engine cover off (this was the first time the cover had been off which is crucial as you will see) and found the problem' 'It's the oil sensor, he has hit something in the road and the car lost all its oil' I know nothing about cars but I am not stupid. -
BMW 318i 2006 - Fuel Leak on Used Car - What Do I Do? 9 Sep 2019 (Forum)
Hoping somebody might have an idea as consumer rights helplines are closed for the weekend. On 20th July I bought a 2006 BMW 318i with 85k for £2650 from a used car dealer. At the time of purchase he wrote 6 month warranty at the top of the invoice & gave me documents for a 6 month warranty from WMS. Due to the age of the car it only gives a 3 star warranty which doesn't appear to cover a massive amount, but figured it gave me a bit of piece of mind. -

Ford Focus - Can A/C comp. leak coolant? 31 Jul 2006 (Forum)
my car has lost about half a litre of coolant in maybe 2 weeks, and the a/c compressor is covered in a fluid deposit. does any engine coolant flow through the a/c compressor? my intial thought was that it was the water pump leaking, but can only see a/c comp from bottom of car? -
Auctionview: what does 'track' mean? 7 Jun 2005 (Forum)
I've subscribed to auctionview and have found I have the option of 'tracking' certain cars that go up for sale. What does this option actually do? I was hoping it could then tell me the price that the car sold for after the auction is over but can't seem to find this information? Is there any other way of finding this out except for hoping HJ's auction reports cover the car I want? -
On-Car Wheel balancing in London Area 14 Jun 2004 (Forum)
HELP! Can anyone pls tell me where I can get wheels balanced on the car, preferably in London area? I have a 1955 Citroen Traction Avant, and the bracket to hold the hubcap covers the central hole, and no-one has a 5-stud adapter/cone big enough to fit the wheel from the back. -
Is This Normal? 10 Jul 2003 (Forum)
I was checking over the car today, it's a Micra 1L, W Reg, and underneath the car what I think is the sump is half covered in greasy oil. There are no drips and it is not losing any oil, I get six monthly oil changes and have never had to top it up. -
Need your help please.... 21 Dec 2002 (Forum)
They had the car for over 2 weeks, although it was ready after 4 days they stated they did not want to give the car back until they had carried out extensive road tests. They covered 300 miles in the 2 weeks.... that is 2 days work for us, so really the 300 miles covered were of no value to us. -

Allowed a person to borrow my car on the understanding he had own insurance to drive another car. Had accident, found out he was only a named driver on his brothers policy and was not covered. The accident was his fault and the other party are claiming against me, my insurance will not accept any claim because i was not driving the car. -

Questions. 1: Am i covered by my insurance to take car for service and MOT. 2: Presumably it is worth getting service and MOT before selling car as car could not be driven on road by buyer 3: How do i SORN car. 4: What about car insurance. -
Hyundai Tucson - GAP insurance 9 Sep 2021 (Forum)
I had a new Hyundai Tucson delivered on Monday - it's leased on PCH over 4 years. I understand that for leased cars GAP insurance is worth investing in as it would cover payments should the car be written off. Are there any good insurers to go for? Do you have to have insurance from dealers or can you just shop around like with other insurances? -
N/A - 1000miles a year oil change 1 Oct 2018 (Forum)
I despair HJ Agony column today advising a OAP to get his 5yr old car oil changed every year. The oil is probably as clean as the day it went in there with this sort of use. The car obviously needs an annual MOT so feel sure that this would cover any safety contingencies for him. -

Having got through a set of original Toyo tyres in 15,000 miles my car has covered since new, is there an alternative wheel/tyre that can be fitted or will this upset the speedo etc. I hate low profiles so much I look at cars with the old fashion rubber with absolute envy. -
