  I drive for work around 50 miles per night, stopping and starting but not long enough for the engine to get really cold. I then drive around 20 miles during the day, school run etc. In September I will be starting Uni, 11 miles each way on the motorway.

  I do not necessarily have a problem with this but the car also passed its MOT at the same service. The car is 4 years old, 19000 miles, no vibration or noises when driving / steering and no undue tyre wear. My question is how can a car require immediate attention but pass its MOT. Is the car safe to drive?

  I have a lexus is220d (2007), service and maintained from the main dealers. It has really bad lag below 2200 revs, to the extent it is difficult to drive on steep rds. It also jerks at low revs, once I accelerate over 2000 revs it drives quite normal. Fuel consumption is high, have cleaned the EGR valve and MAF sensor, run a number of cleaners through but sadly no progress.

  Yeah, I know driving instructors tell you that your car will fly off the road if you do it but does anyone else coast in a bid to save fuel/spice up slow driving? There's a hill near where I live and starting from the top I managed 1.9 miles as measured on the trip.

  I have recently had a Cambelt and timing kit change on my car. Driving home from the garage a ESP Fault appeared on dash and stayed there continously. When turning ignition off & on fault clears, but after driving for a few min re appears continous. Also on ignition get a red brake warning light although goes off after engine starts.

  Following warnings lights that ABS,EPS,BAS were malfunctioning car was stopped & engine switched off, gear shift placed in "Park". Later attempt to shift into "Drive" found gear shift immovable and unable to start the engine although plenty of electrical power. Prior to switching the engine off I noticed the "D" display indicating car is in "Drive" had vanished.

  Hi, I seem to be loosing water from my radiator coolant bottle. I have to add 0.5 litres every day.  Driving long distance I have no broblems, sitting in traffic and start stop traffice causes the coolent warning lite to come on.  When I then drive the coolent warning lite goes out.  The car never overheats Also, I cant see where the water is leaking, also no water in the oil.

  My boyfriend recently bought a second hand corsa from a garage. It passed its MOT a few weeks ago, but as he was planning to visit me (2 and a half hour drive) I wanted him to have it checked over and serviced. He has had it serviced today and been informed it will never pass another MOT as it is completely rotten underneath. He's okay with this and isn't worried about only running the car for 11 months then ditching it, but I'm worried it is not safe to drive.

  I have taken the trim off to check it out but cannot see where the problem is. I would suspect that the drive on the motor has broken but cant confirm because I can't see where the motor drives the window mechanism. Anybody have any experience/advice re this problem?   Don

  My Voyager keeps coming out of gear, when i stop, or go from reverse to drive. It only seems to do it first thing in the morning. If i stop at a junction, it tays in Drive but does not go into gear, then i have to wait, and put it in different gears, and it will eventually go in a foward gear...ANY HELP PLEASE!!
